Changes in fitness with long-term cardiac rehabilitation

Pryzbek, Michael January 2020 (has links)
Despite known associations between fitness and recurrent cardiovascular events, changes in cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) and muscle strength with long-term cardiac rehabilitation (CR) have not been extensively examined in men, and data in women is absent in the literature. The purpose of this thesis was to estimate changes in CRF and muscle strength associated with long-term CR program enrollment in men and women, and to examine the influence of baseline fitness and age on these fitness trajectories in men. Our methods and interpretations of the findings are discussed in the thesis, but in brief, using mixed model analyses we observed important fitness benefits over long-term CR enrollment in men and women and influences of baseline fitness and age on the trajectories in men. Our data provide new evidence of improved fitness trajectories in men and women after long-term CR enrollment and highlight the importance of long-term exercise-based CR after the completion of short-term programs. Larger prospective cohort studies are warranted to confirm the observations, and to identify potential mechanisms underlying these findings. / Dissertation / Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)

Reproductive traits and sex ratio bias in the dwarf willow Salix herbacea

Zhao, Minchun January 2024 (has links)
Sex ratio is very important for the evolution of dioecious plants. It can influence the reproductive success of plants. Sex ratio bias is common among reproductive individuals. Studying the reproductive traits can help to understand possible mechanisms that could influence the generation and maintenance of sex ratio bias. However, few studies have reported the relationship between reproductive traits and sex ratio bias. We investigated 29 full-sib families of the dwarf willow Salix herbacea L. S.herbacea exhibits an overall female sex ratio bias but also strong variation in sex ratio among families. We used variance component analysis to investigate from which morphological level the variation of reproductive traits (cumulative catkin number over four growth periods, annual catkin number in the fourth growth period, flower number, ovule number) came from. And we used mixed models to test the influence of family, sex and the sex by family interaction on reproductive traits. Besides that, we also tested the correlation between sex ratio and reproductive traits. Our results suggest that genetic factors can influence the degree of sexual dimorphism of S. herbacea in the different families Flowers from families with higher sex ratios had more ovules, sex ratio and the ovule number co-varied across families.

François, Axel 07 October 2011 (has links)
In the current economic context, the representation and the analysis of 3D data is growing more and more in the field of Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The number of GIS applications is constantly increasing in many industries, such as Defense, Regional Development and Civil Security. However, we can point out the emergence of an important request for 3D analysis in GIS. These developments require a standardization of data and exchange structures. This is carried out by Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) and International Organization for Standardization (ISO). A recent standard (ISO 19107:2003) describes the complex objects to be taken into consideration and the associated treatments that can be used. It aims to develop interoperable exchange and analysis of geometric and topological data in GIS. Currently, no complete implementation on a computer of this standard has been done yet, regarding the level of abstraction sought. However, a simplified version was exclusively developed for 2D objects (ISO 19137:2007). This thesis proposes the modeling and the analysis of complex objects in three dimensional space, with their associated treatments. The objective is to create a first library whose the features are conform to ISO19107. Moreover, this standard is currently under review within the OGC Consortium (Open Geospatial Consortium) with a need for correction and evolution. The work done until now have enabled us to make a meaningful contribution with the addition of new geometrical primitives, the harmonization of primitives through the use of rational parametric curves and surfaces. The works on this standard also allowed the development of an application within the GEOMATYS company, making possible the 3D modeling and analysis for traffic simulation based on GIS data.

Otkrivanje kvara rotora kaveznog asinhronog motora primenom tehnika analize terminalnih veličina / Induction motor broken bar fault detection based on the analysis of motorterminal quantities

Reljić Dejan 21 September 2017 (has links)

trofaznog kaveznog asinhronog motora. Metoda je zasnovana na
identifikaciji obeležja kvara rotora iz signala terminalnih veličina
jednofazno napojenog trofaznog kaveznog motora u stacionarnom stanju
pogona.
/
In this Doctoral dissertation, a novel method for broken rotor bar fault detection
in a three-phase squirrel-cage induction motor (IM) is introduced. The proposed
method is non-invasive and it is based on the analysis of the IM terminal
quantities in a single-phase steady-state operating condition. Compared to
conventional fault detection techniques, the developed method does not require
any loading on the motor, which is the main benefit of the method. The faulty
condition of broken rotor bars was investigated analytically, while the
effectiveness of the proposed method was proven by the variety of computer
simulations and experimental results. Based on these results, a methodology for
the quantification of broken rotor bars in the IM has been presented.

Analýza vývoje základních ukazatelů o bankovním trhu v ČR a použití modelu RSW / Analysis of financial indexes in the Czech banking market and application of the RSW model.

Tiutiunnic, Olga January 2015 (has links)
The aim of my diploma thesis is to explain the basic financial indexes in the Czech banking sector, to analyze Czech banks with the model of financial health RSW, which was modified according to the specifics of Czech enterprises, and to contribute to the conclusion, if it is possible to apply the model RSW in its modified form for testing financial health of Czech banks. The RSW model results will be compared with achieved results in the model, which I named alternative comparative model (S-model). S-model works with indexes from banks annual reports. The theoretical part will be defined by definition of bank and a brief description of Czech banking, by financial description of the specifics in bank statements and fundamental indexes. Then I will describe the way of using the model RSW in its modified form. In the practical part of my diploma thesis I will test eighteen Czech banks by RSW model and compare achieved banks ratings with the alternative comparative model. I choose the techniques of S-model based on my individually attained knowledge and read literature.
