Automatic Geometric Data Migration Throughout Views of a Model Fidelity Family

Soderquist, Hans L. 05 March 2006 (has links) (PDF)
Changes in geometric model parameters are constant throughout the design process. Each group in an organization needs different model information at varying times during the design process. As a result many different models of the same part or assembly arise for the needs and use of each group in each design phase (from conceptual design to full product definition). When one group makes changes to a model, those changes need to be reflected in all of the models which describe the product in all groups and design phases in order for those changes to be verified against all design criteria that were set, and for those changes to be seen by downstream users in the design process. This thesis describes a method for linking these models together which will provide revision control, assuming all models can be updated from any of the other models which define the product and allow for these models to be parameterized using different schemes.

Random Variate Generation Web Service

Sabah, Mohammad 12 September 2003 (has links)
Simulation and statistical applications often mimic the behavior of a random phenomenon by way of generating random observations that form a known or empirical probability distribution with estimated parameter values. Generation of such random observations is called Random Variate Generation (RVG). The number of simulation and statistical applications provided on the World Wide Web (Web) is on the rise. To facilitate the development of simulation and statistical applications on the Web by way of reuse, there is a need for providing RVG as a Web service. This research involves the development of such a Web service for RVG, which can be invoked programmatically over the Web by using SOAP over the HyperText Transfer Protocol (HTTP) running on top of the Internet. To provide the RVG Web service, an RVG Web application is developed based on the Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE) architecture. The RVG Web application is engineered by using the IBM WebSphere Studio Application Developer and runs on the IBM WebSphere Application Server. A client simulation and statistical application may call the RVG Web service and request the generation of random variates from 27 probability distributions. In addition, the RVG Web service also provides general statistics, scatter plot, and histogram of the requested random variates. The plots and histograms are created in Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG). The RVG Web service: (a) accepts requests in the Extensible Markup Language (XML) format, which is specified according to a request schema, and (b) sends the results to the client application also in the XML format specified according to a reply schema. The interface specification and access information needed to invoke the RVG Web service are provided in the Web Service Description Language (WSDL) document. Any Web-based simulation or statistical application that needs generation of random variates, their scatter plots and histograms, can invoke the RVG Web service programmatically at http://sunfish.cs.vt.edu/RVGWebService . / Master of Science

網際網路應用系統開發之模組化趨勢及人力資源配置研究~以Java 2 Servlet & JSP技術進行農民曆日期轉換為例

錢雲山 Unknown Date (has links)
Just like the modularization of hardware component, the trend of modularization of software component has gained also general recognition in the field of application system development. Recently, web-based application has become more and more important in the distributed computing environment. The Sun Inc. has been developing the servlet & JSP technology to be used for developing interactive web application. In this research, a software component study following the model-view-Controller architecture is inspected to verify the software modularization trend in the web application development using servlet & JSP technology. For implementation purpose, a business logic dealing with Chinese Calendar Transformation is selected as the model part. The implication of human resource allocation from point of view the application system development is also outlined as a deductive conclusion.

Rule logic and its validation framework of model view definitions for building information modeling

Lee, Yong Cheol 07 January 2016 (has links)
With the growing number of complex requirements for building and facility projects, diverse domain experts iteratively exchange building design and product data during the design, construction, and facility management phases. Such data exchanges, however, frequently involve unintended geometric transformations, inaccurate project requirements, and insufficient syntactic and semantic elements in building model data. To ensure the interoperability of building information models, this dissertation includes an examination of rules categorized from the Precast Concrete Institute model views and a generalization of the rule logic and structures of each rule set. Moreover, rule logic is coded and implemented on modularized validation platforms of a validation tool referred to as the IfcDoc tool, an automated model view documentation and validation application. This dissertation is expected to help domain experts evaluate whether building design data fulfill the data exchange specifications of their domain and the objectives of a proposed project. Furthermore, to identify unreliable and inconsistent IFC mapping procedures of BIM authoring tools, software developers using the proposed approach would implement an automated debugging process in their IFC interfaces according to the specifications of a targeted model view.

Moreover, there are available tools in the genome domain that also need to be integrated. Another problem is that the systems developed for these objectives do not offer all the support to the researchers, therefore in their majority do not possess flexibility and are of difficult expansion. The proposal of this work is the development of a software component framework, called FrameEST, developed with the most recent technologies of reuses, that structures and guides the development of different applications of molecular biology domain. The FrameEST is available for reuses of the applications: in the phase of modeling in a CASE tool and the phase of implementation as one plug-in in the Eclipse enviroment. A case study is used to illustrate the FrameEST reuse.

A Journey Through the Land of Model-View-* Design Patterns

Syromiatnikov, Artem January 2014 (has links)
Every software program that interacts with a user requires a user interface. Model-View-Controller (MVC) is a common design pattern to integrate a user interface with the application domain logic. MVC separates the representation of the application domain (Model) from the display of the application's state (View) and user interaction control (Controller). However, studying the literature reveals that a variety of other related patterns exists, which we denote with Model-View-* (MV*) design patterns. This thesis discusses existing MV* patterns classified in three main families: Model-View-Controller (MVC), Model-View-View Model (MVVM), and Model-View-Presenter (MVP). We take a practitioners' point of view and emphasize the essentials of each family as well as the differences. The study shows that the selection of patterns should take into account the use cases and quality requirements at hand, and chosen technology. We illustrate the selection of a pattern with an example of our practice. The study results aim to bring more clarity in the variety of MV* design patterns and help practitioners to make better grounded decisions when selecting patterns.

Teknik för en flerskiktadwebbapplikation

Pettersson, Jonnie January 2008 (has links)
The report analyses if some common problems can be avoided by using modern technology. As a reference system “Fartygsrapporteringssystemet” is used. It is an n-tier web application built with modern technology at time, 2003-2004. The aim is to examine whether ASP.Net MVC, Windows Communication Foundation, Workflow Foundation and SQL Server 2005 Service Broker can be used to create an n-tier web application which also communicate with other systems and facilitate automated testing. The report describes the construction of a prototype in which the presentation layer uses ASP.Net MVC to separate presentation and business logic. Communication with the business layer is done through the Windows Communication Foundation. Hard coded processes are broken out and dealt with by Workflow Foundation. Asynchronous communication with other systems is done by using Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Service Broker. The results of the analysis is that these techniques can be used to create a n-tier web application, but that ASP.Net MVC, which at present only available in a preview release, is not sufficiently developed yet.
