Understanding Factors Influencing Plastic Recycling Behavior : A study in the context of Sweden

Zinkevicius, Martynas January 2024 (has links)
This study comprehensively examined the factors shaping individuals' intentions towardplastic recycling, explicitly focusing on pro-environmental attitudes, subjective norms, perceived behavioral control, and moral norms. A quantitative research approach wasemployed, and data were gathered from 105 respondents through a survey instrument. The results indicated significant pro-environmental attitudes and perceived behavioralcontrol influences on recycling intentions. While subjective norms demonstratedmarginal significance, moral norms did not emerge as significant predictors. Thesefindings underscored the crucial roles of attitudes and perceived behavioral control inmotivating recycling behaviors. From a theoretical standpoint, the study reaffirmed therelevance of the Theory of Planned Behavior in understanding pro-environmentalbehaviors. Practically, the insights obtained offered valuable guidance for designingtargeted interventions to foster recycling behaviors and mitigate plastic pollution. Onecritical area for intervention is enhancing PBC. Making recycling more accessible andconvenient can significantly boost individuals' confidence in their ability to recycle. Thiscan be achieved by improving the availability of recycling facilities, providing clearinformation on how to recycle correctly, and reducing perceived barriers to recycling.

The subject matter of the study is happiness and psychological well-being. The object matter of the study is communication of happiness and psychological well-being with observance of moral norms. The master's thesis consists of an introduction, two chapters, a conclusion, a list of literature (60 sources) and an appendix, which includes the forms of the applied methodologies. The volume of the master's thesis is 137 pages, on which are placed 9 figures and 6 tables. The introduction reveals the relevance of the research problem, the development of the problematics, the purpose and objectives of the research are set, the object and the subject of research are determined, the basic and additional hypotheses are formulated, the methods and the empirical base are specified, as well as the stages of the research, the scientific novelty, the theoretical and practical significance of the work. The first chapter includes a review of foreign and domestic literature on the topic of happiness, psychological well-being, morality, sin and vice as a moral norm-prohibition. The sections devoted to the connection of happiness, psychological well-being and morality are presented. Conclusions on the first chapter are the results of the study of theoretical material. The second chapter is devoted to the empirical part of the study. It provides a description of the organization and methods of the study and the results obtained using all the methods used: the Oxford Happiness Inventory, the methodology “The scale of psychological well-being of K. Riff”, the tests “Greed”, “Anger”, “Pride”, “The Sin of Lust”, “Gluttony”, “Envy”, “Despondency” (Yu.V. Scherbatykh). The chapter also presents a correlation analysis of the results of the study. The findings of Chapter 2 are the main results of the empirical study. In conclusion, the results of the theoretical and empirical parts of the work, as well as conclusions on the hypotheses put forward, are presented in a generalized form, the practical significance of the study is substantiated and possible prospects for further development of this problem are described. / Объектом исследования явилось счастье и психологическое благополучие. Answering the call for values-based anti-doping education: An evidence-informed intervention for elite adolescent athletes in Germany and Austria

Manges, Theresa, Seidel, Kevin, Walter, Nadja, Schüler, Thorsten, Elbe, Anne-Marie 20 March 2024 (has links)
Doping has serious negative consequences for athletes and the integrity of sports, implying the need for effective prevention programs. Since educating young athletes about doping-related knowledge is deemed to be not sufficiently effective to minimize doping, a focus on values, emotions and morality is seen as a promising approach and previous research indicates which variables exactly could be addressed in anti-doping efforts. These variables are anticipated guilt, empathy, moral disengagement, and collective moral norms, since these constructs have been strongly and consistently linked to doping intention, likelihood, or behavior. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to develop a values-based anti-doping intervention, which targets the aforementioned variables, and to evaluate its effectiveness in producing changes in outcomes in comparison to an information-based intervention and a waiting control group. To evaluate their effectiveness, both interventions, which each consist of six 45-min sessions (one session per week) were implemented in a sample of 321 young elite athletes, aged 13–19 years, from a broad range of team and individual sports. Thirty different teams, training groups or classes were randomly assigned to either the values-based intervention, the information-based intervention, or to a waiting control group. Doping intention, doping susceptibility as well as the above mentioned variables were assessed at pre- and posttest and, for participants of the values- and information-based conditions also at a 3 to 4-month follow up. Within a multilevel modeling framework general linear mixed regression analyses revealed that the values-based intervention, compared to the control group, was able to decrease athletes' moral disengagement and increase their anticipated guilt immediately after the intervention (at posttest), whereas no effects for the information-based intervention emerged. Looking at how the outcomes developed over time (i.e., at the follow up measurement), it could be demonstrated that the reduction in moral disengagement sustained. The increase in anticipated guilt, however, was not sustainable and, surprisingly, decreased from post to follow up. Furthermore, athletes in the values-based intervention reported higher empathy from post to follow up, which could possibly indicate a “delayed” effect. This study provides support that a values-based approach can produce changes in some, yet, not all addressed variables and specific elements from this intervention could potentially be a useful addition to traditional anti-doping education (i.e., information provision).

Social structures of contracts - a case study of the Vietnamese market

Nguyen, Quan Hien Unknown Date (has links) (PDF)
What makes real life contractual arrangements? How does the law influence real life contractual arrangements? These are everyday questions for businesspeople and commercial lawyers. The traditional ‘imperative’ view of law assumes that business people contract ‘in the shadow of the law’ and contractual arrangements conform to what the law says. But empirical studies on contract practice suggest that contract law may, in fact, play a very insignificant role in real life contractual arrangements. This thesis provides a sociological view of the role of contract law in real life contractual arrangements in the context of the Vietnamese market. Specifically, this thesis applies an institutional law & economics approach to investigate how social structures of the market influence contractual arrangements to marginalize contract law in the Vietnamese market. Drawing on two surveys of contract behaviour in the Vietnamese market, this thesis finds that real life contractual arrangements respond to the institutional structure of the market as a whole, rather than only ‘the shadow of the law’. Institutional changes in the Vietnamese market suggest that there exists a merchant law system, constituted of traditional moral norms and social structures in the market. This merchant law system continues to order contractual arrangements in the market, despite the introduction of a transplanted contract law system. Disagreeing with the imperative approach, this thesis claims that contract law reform should conform to the institutional structure of the market to reduce transaction costs of contracting and to provide an effective framework for real life contractual arrangements.
