Some Morphological Aspects of the Speech of Cooke County, Texas

Holman, Ruth Louise 01 1900 (has links)
A survey of language in a certain area is designed primarily to present a living language as it is actually spoken; thus, a morphological study of language is designed to determine the most widely-used syntactical and grammatical forms and to record these forms in a statistical manner. These findings are to be interpreted in the light of similar studies, not with the purpose of establishing the cultural level of the language in the area surveyed, but to present all the possible variations, and, in some cases, to draw a comparison as a matter of record between the forms found to be commonly used in every-day speech and the standard usage as given by leading linguistic authorities.

THE ACQUISITION OF DERIVATIONAL MORPHOLOGY BY ARAB LEARNERS OF ENGLISH: VERB>NOUN DERIVATION

Eldeeb, Muftah Bashir 01 August 2013 (has links)
This study examines seven deverbal nominalizing suffixes through theoretical framework and previous research. They include the morphological aspects, productivity of suffixes, base-driven approach and phonological neutral and nonneutral suffixes. Learners participated in an instrument to account for their competence of verb-noun derivation. The participants presented knowledge of relational, syntactic and relatively distributional morphology. Also, some suffixes are more productive than others and that was shown through the level of accuracy of these suffixes. The suffixes -ing, -er, and (at)-ion are of high accuracy and thus productive. Whereas the suffixes -ment, -ent/-ant, -ence/-ance and -al are less accurate and less productive. The underlying reason behind the productivity and non-productivity of these suffixes is because of the phonological transparency factors. Suffixes that do not cause internal phonological changes in the base presented high accuracy and easily learned, while suffixes that require internal phonological changes posed challenges to learners. The -ment suffix is neutral, no internal change required, however; its accuracy went down in this study.

Ensaio da relação do parcelamento do solo e volumetria construída intraquadra com a temperatura aparente de superfície do município de São Paulo em medições remotas / Essay of the relationship between division of land and intraquadra built volumetry with apparent surface temperature of Sao Paulo city in remote measurements

Hoffmann, Martin 08 April 2014 (has links)
This project is an essay to establish a process of analysis of the relation between division of land and intraquadra built volumetry of Sao Paulo city, using the database of the research The Open Spaces Systems in the Brazilian Urban Form Constitution: Production and Appropriation QUAPÁ-Sel II developed by the QUAPÁ Laboratory at FAU USP, with the information of the apparent surface temperature existent in three seasons, fall, winter and spring. In order to establish a methodology that can be replicated in other places, the work presented here, using this database and remote sensing images, seeks to identify possible similarities between the worked classes and their apparent surface temperature and how this may influence the air temperature and the thermal comfort of people in the urban canyon level.

Contar desde el vestuario: La narrativa detrás del diseño de vestuario en la serie El último bastión / Telling from the costumes: The narrative behind the costume design in the series The last bastion

Ataucuri Ostolaza, Camila Marianne-Alexandra 13 September 2021 (has links)
This research is the result of the analysis of the narrative behind the costume design of The last bastion (2018-2019), the largest production of Peruvian TV and the first series of a Latin American state television on the Netflix worldwide platform. The case study has been limited to the 10 most emblematic scenes of the first and last episode (episode 1 and 35). The narrative analysis is approached from the morphological and conceptual aspects of the costume design in the series, in order to determine what tools are used to present the plot and the arc of the characters from the costume design. It also seeks to determine what creative licenses and limitations exist behind the period costume design in this Peruvian TV production, without affecting the narrative and intentions behind the artistic work. Finally, the document is expected to be a reference for exploring narrative possibilities in the costume design of upcoming Peruvian projects in the audiovisual sector, whether for film or television, as it is hoped that the creative process used in both is enriched to grow audiovisual as a country. / Trabajo de investigación
