[pt] INVESTIGANDO O RELACIONAMENTO ENTRE DEPENDÊNCIA DE CARACTERÍSTICAS E PROPAGAÇÃO DE MUDANÇAS / [en] ON THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN FEATURE DEPENDENCIES AND CHANGE PROPAGATIONBRUNO BARBIERI DE PONTES CAFEO 21 July 2016 (has links)
No
As métricas propostas nesta tese superaram consistentemente
as métricas convencionais estudadas.
[en] Features are the key abstraction to develop and maintain software
product lines. A challenge faced in the maintenance of product lines is the
understanding of the dependencies that exist between features. In the source
code, a feature dependency occurs whenever program elements within the
boundaries of a feature s implementation depend on elements external to that
feature. Examples are either attributes or methods defined in the realisation
of a feature, but used in the code realising other features. As developers
modify the source code associated with a feature, they must ensure that other
features are consistently updated with the new changes – the so-called change
propagation. However, appropriate change propagation is far from being trivial
as features are often not modularised in the source code. In this way, given a
change in a certain feature, it is challenging to reveal which (part of) other
features should also change. Change propagation becomes, therefore, a central
and non-trivial aspect of software product-line maintenance. Developers may
overlook important parts of the code that should be revised or changed, thus
not fully propagating changes. Conversely, they may also unnecessarily analyse
parts that are not relevant to the feature-maintenance task at hand, thereby
increasing the maintenance effort or even mis-propagating changes. The
creation of a good mental model based on the structure of feature dependencies
becomes essential for gaining insight into the intricate relationship between
features in order to properly propagate changes. Unfortunately, there is no
understanding in the state of the art about structural properties of feature
dependencies that affect change propagation. This understanding is not yet
possible as: (i) there is no conceptual characterisation and quantification means
for structural properties of feature dependency, and (ii) there is no empirical
investigation on the influence of these properties on change propagation.
In this context, this thesis presents three contributions to overcome the
aforementioned problems. First, we develop a study to understand change
propagation in presence of feature dependencies in several industry-strength
product lines. Second, we propose a measurement framework intended to
quantify structural properties of feature dependencies. We also develop a
study revealing that conventional metrics typically used in previous research,
such as coupling metrics, are not effective indicators of change propagation
in software product lines. Our proposed metrics consistently outperformed
conventional metrics. Third, we also propose a method to support change
propagation by facing the organisation of feature dependency information as
a clustering problem. We evaluate if our proposed organisation has potential
to help developers to propagate changes in software product lines.

[en] THE NATURE OF INCENTIVES AND DIFFICULTIES INHERENT IN TRANSFORMING CHANGE PROCESSES IN PRODUCTIVE ORGANIZATIONS / [pt] A NATUREZA DAS DIFICULDADES E FACILITADORES INERENTES A UM PROCESSO DE MUDANÇA TRANSFORMADORA EM ORGANIZAÇÕES PRODUTIVASKATIA ROUSSEAU 25 July 2007 (has links)
mudança, associados a valores éticos,
de responsabilidade, cooperação, solidariedade e
sustentabilidade.
dificuldades. / [en] Either global crisis of the civilization, crisis of
modernity, or even a simple
reply to the requirements of the globalization, for more
the conservatives, the name
given to the period of transformations for which crosses
the society, there is a consensus
among various authors, besides a movement of
entrepreneurs, executives and employees
of diverse organizations, that the change with respect to
the form we see the relation
organizations and society is not only primordial, but a
consummated fact. The society
crosses a phase in which it faces problems, most of them,
resulted of its own
development. This problematic issue has been subject of
diverse areas, including
academic, administration and politics. Considering
previous studies and enterprise
experiences that have already shown the possibility to
adopt a more ethical, human and
ecologically engaged perspective, as well as theoretical
contributions on the transforming
change, the purpose of this work was to understand the
nature of the difficulties and the
inherent incentives to a process of transforming
organizational change. With regard to the
final considerations, due to the particularly nature of
the paradigm change, the results of
literature corresponded to our expectations of that it was
not possible to find only one
single answer to the problem. A group of authors gives
more emphasis to the difficulties
in the change processes, usually associated to the values
of the traditional
administration, whereas another group gives more emphasis
to the incentives of change,
associated to ethical values, responsibility, cooperation
and solidarity. Anyway, both
difficulties and incentives are associated to values,
those which correspond to the aspects
of axiological nature. The analyses of the data, as well
as the analysis of the
bibliographical research, have led to the philosophical
bases of the problem of change. In
the philosophical perspective, the result of the empirical
research allowed us to also
identify the greatest frequencies in the axiological
categories. However, the incentive
categories are the most remembered, in regard to their
frequency and diversity, for there
were three incentive categories and only one difficulty
category.

[en] (RE) MAKING COMMUNITY RADIOS: THE TENSION TO TRANSFORM FICTION IN HISTORY / [pt] (RE) FAZENDO RÁDIOS COMUNITÁRIAS: A TENSÃO EM TRANSFORMAR FICÇÃO EM HISTÓRIAERICA CRISTINA DA SILVA GOMES 18 September 2007 (has links)
mensagens. No âmbito comunitário, demos visibilidade para
histórias locais e
reunimos características que consideramos como
possibilidades de reconfiguração
do radiojornalismo tradicional, tais como: presença da
subjetividade, existência de
textos sonoros híbridos e maior liberdade em explorar a
linguagem do veículo.
[en] In this search, we focused on the journalistic narratives
of some
community radios in Rio de Janeiro. We identified how
these broadcasting
stations deal with this type of media, paying attention to
the way the messages are
produced. In the community sphere, we gave visibility to
local stories, and united
characteristics that we consider as possibilities of
reconfiguring the traditional
radiojournalism, such as: the presence of subjectivity,
the existence of hybrid
sound texts and the greater freedom to explore the radio`s
language. We tell the
trajectory of radio in Brazil to insert and legitimate the
community broadcasting
stations involved in this process. And this process
reveals the difficulties that
these stations face in relation to some topics: acquiring
the license, the problem of
repression, the interruption of the activities and the
nomenclature given to the
segment. On the other hand, we showed the organization of
people that fight for
these radios, as well as the interest of the traditional
media in the production of the
community radios. This approach is real only because we
are facing a context that
is going through paradigmatic changes. The dissolution of
the modern discourse
as homogeneous gave space to the arising of plural
narratives. Among these
voices, until then quite, are the journalistic narratives
of the community radios.

[en] The dissertation maps the social space created around the public discussion
concerning the security impacts of climate change. Pierre Bourdieu’s method of
controversy mapping was applied, which consisted in positioning the agents
involved in the debate on a Cartesian plane, symbolizing the social distances
between them. The social map is formed by the intersection of two axes: first, the
horizontal axis, in which actors are positioned according to how they frame the
climate threat (emphasis on human security x emphasis on geopolitical and
military security). Second, a vertical axis, in which agents are located according to
the type of measures they advocate to deal with the security impacts of the
phenomenon (preventive adaptation x reactive adaptation). By crossing agents’
positions in these two axes, the research tried to evaluate the consistency between
its results and the arguments of Ulrich Beck, Didier Bigo, Jef Huysmans, Claudia
Aradau and Rens van Munster concerning the political impacts of the new kind of
unmanageable risk climate change represents. The dissertation evaluates, in
particular, the hypothesis linking the securitization of climate change with the
transcendence move from a communitarian international system towards a model
based on a global sense of belonging. The research aimed, therefore, to analyze
the effects that the different conceptions of climate security are having upon the
modern understanding of space and time. As a conclusion, the dissertation
identified an inclination among the analyzed agents towards a conception of the
global understood as an exchange between well delineated particulars and a
propensity towards practices of risk management.

This Thesis has been developed to assess the impacts of climate change throughout this century on future water demands for soybean irrigation in the Northwest region of Rio Grande do Sul under a stochastic approach and considering different projections of climate models for the period 2011-2100, compared to the past (1961-1990). The water demands for irrigation (IWR) were obtained by simulation with the SWAP model. The stochastic aspect of this evaluation was conducted by incorporating the spatial variability of the saturated hydraulic conductivity (Ksat) and the parameters of the soil water retention curve (CR). Initially, a stochastic analysis of soil physical-hydraulic attributes (Ksat and CR parameters) in the Donato basin (1,1 Km2) was carried out. This basin served as a representative area of soils and land uses of the Northwest region. The Sequential Gaussian Simulation (SSG) technique was used to generate 100 random fields of each variable. The results revealed greater uncertainty for Ksat and for α parameter of the CR and identified that the large spatial and temporal heterogeneity of the variables may be associated with factors such as climate, management and land cover, sampling error, spatial density of the sampling grid and also the degree of soil compaction. After, an investigation was made to detect changes in temperature (T) and precipitation (P) patterns in the Northwest region of RS (~65.000 Km2) by using different global and regional circulation models (GCM and RCM, respectively). Seven distinct locations in the region were considered, for which there are ten different climate projections of these models. Additionally, it was also investigated the frequency and intensity of extreme rainfall events using extreme event indices. Projections indicate an increase in average annual temperature of almost 3 °C by the end of this century, as well as an increase in annual precipitation. It was also performed a seasonal analysis of T and P, which showed that the largest temperature increases are projected for the winter and early spring and, therefore, do not coincide with the summer months the main crop in the region (soy). Making use of the above information, the SWAP model was applied to estimate the water demand for soybean irrigation (IWR), excluding losses due to the efficiency of any method of irrigation. A hypothesis test for the simulated IWR series and the results supports the premise that in short-term IWR (2025s) is not statistically different from base period (1961-1990). On the other hand, IWR in 2055s and 2085s reject this hypothesis. Finally, the influence of the spatial distribution of the saturated hydraulic conductivity (Ksat) and the parameters of the soil water retention curve (α, sat and n) on IWR was evaluated, according to a stochastic approach. The simulated values form the geostatistical method of Sequential Gaussian Simulation (SGS) were used as input data in the SWAP model. Input data of meteorological information were provided by the projections of regional climate model ETA 20 and ETA 40 CTRL, as well as the projections given by global climate model HADCM3 for the seven locations in the region. Estimates obtained by the stochastic method were then compared with the IWR estimates obtained without considering the spatial variability of physical and hydraulic soil properties. The results indicated large spatial variability of IWR values. Furthermore, it was observed that the smallest uncertainties of IWR were obtained from the projections with better spatial resolution, the ETA 20 model, while the HADCM3 model revealed the highest differences between future periods and the current period (baseline). The results also showed that the greatest uncertainties are probably due to climate models, since the stochastic approach did not add uncertainties to the IWR values simulated previously. Finally, the series of IWR obtained by stochastic and deterministic approaches were compared by the hypothesis test of Kolmogorov-Smirnov, which proved that only the series in the short term (2025s) differ, and, therefore, the soil spatial variability may not be neglected when estimating this variable.

[en] NUMERICAL MODELING OF CO2 INJECTION IN SALINE AQUIFERS, AIMING TO EVALUATE MINERAL STORAGE / [pt] MODELAGEM NUMÉRICA DA INJEÇÃO DE CO2 EM AQUÍFERO SALINO, OBJETIVANDO AVALIAR O APRISIONAMENTO MINERALROBERTA DOMINGOS RODRIGUES 13 December 2017 (has links)
maior temperatura. / [en] In order to contribute to climatic changes mitigation, technologies aiming the reduction of pollution gases emissions, such as carbon dioxide, have been highlighted in recent researches. One of the alternatives to prevent all this carbon from being released into the atmosphere is to reinject CO2 into reservoirs or in other nearby geological formations. In this sense, this work presents a technology related to the capture and geological storage of CO2 and evaluates the carbon dioxide injection process into saline aquifers. The main objective is to evaluate the carbon dioxide injection process in saline aquifers of carbonate rocks, in a time scale of three thousand years, to evaluate the storage mechanism of CO2 in its different
forms, including mineral storage. Such study also considers in the modeling, the chemical reactions between the components in the aqueous phase and the molecular diffusion of the carbon dioxide in the aqueous phase, as well as the chemical reactions of mineral dissolution and precipitation. From the research made and the information gathered in the literature, the premises for the simulation of the base case were established, and derivative cases were generated by individually varying each of the following properties: diffusivity, salinity, pH and temperature, in which the contribution of each property was evaluated on the different CO2 storage forms. Finally, it was concluded that the injected CO2 mineralization process started after approximately 200 years of simulation. However, due to slow rates of the mineral precipitation, the CO2 storage in the dissolved form was still predominant. The different properties that contributed to increase the CO2 mineral storage, which is considered the more estable one, were: lower diffusivity factor, higher aquifer salinity, basic pH (pH equal to 8.0) and higher temperature.
