[en] THE CORDIAL MAN AND THE TRANSLATED MAN: THE MODERNITY OF THE POSTMODERN SCENE / [pt] O HOMEM CORDIAL E O HOMEM TRADUZIDO: A MODERNIDADE NA CENA PÓS-MODERNA

GUSTAVO TADEU ALKMIM 03 June 2008 (has links)
[en] This text concerns the relation between the translated man of the contemporary world and the Brazilian cordial man. It establishes a parallel that reveals aspects of modernity (including, but not exclusively, socio-economic ones) in the multicultural, postmodern and urban scene, considering that there is not an effective rupture between these two moments. In order to develop the subject, we consider elements that involve the economic, cultural and politic process of globalization inserted in the dynamics of the cyber capitalism, along with the theoretical debate about the identity crisis of the contemporary man and the search for hybrid spaces by means of hybridism processes and by transdifference, focusing on certain narrations and characters of the Brazilian literature and cinema.

BEATRIZ ANDREIUOLO 19 October 2011 (has links)
[en] The study aims to follow Hannah Arendt s developping of a narrative that illuminates the disclosure of certain people taking into account who and not what they where. Through this it also intends to elucidate what would be the dark times and show why Hannah Arendt needed to build on images to make up her texts.

[en] MANGUE: AN ILUSTRATION OF THE GREAT POST-MODERN NARRATIVE / [pt] MANGUE: UMA ILUSTRAÇÃO DA GRANDE NARRATIVA PÓS-MODERNA

ROBERTO AZOUBEL DA MOTA SILVEIRA 14 April 2004 (has links)
[en] The thesis Mangue: an Ilustration of the great post-modern narrative investigates the place of literature in contemporary cultural arenas, taking as (non) ilustration the Mangue, a cultural cooperative inititated in the 90´s in the city of Recife. This work discusses themes related to literature and post-modernism, showing that the fragments of post-modern discourses can produce a great narrative: the inclusion of social groups and cultural languages that have been historically set aside by western cultures.

EVELIN CATHERINE SCHMID DO AMARAL 25 January 2006 (has links)
[en] Healthcare literature has described communication and interaction impairments as a central symptoms of the Asperger´s Syndrome. It points out, however, that problems in relation to the use of language have not been observed. In this dissertation, we approach this question through the analysis of the talk of an Asperger´s Syndrome patient in interaction with his speech pathologist. We study different aspects of interactional dynamics, as well as the use of strategies to referer to past events and experiences, i.e., resources used in the construction of narratives. Having as theoretical ground the interactional sociolinguistic perspective and the labovian model for the contruction of narratives, we recorded and transcribed therapeutic sessions. Based in this data, we observed, regarding conversational dynamics, that the patient provides evidence that he is able to take turns and present topics, but does not use them properly every time. As to the construction of narratives, we observed that the patient, although presenting narrative elements, does not adequately organize his narratives.

[en] NARRATIVE AND IDENTITY: A PORTUGUESE IMMIGRANT IN BRAZIL. / [pt] NARRATIVA E IDENTIDADE: O PERFIL DE UMA IMIGRANTE PORTUGUESA NO BRASIL

ELIZABETH BARROSO LIMA 21 October 2003 (has links)
[en] This study aims to analyse the construction of identity of a Portuguese immigrant in Brazil, during a research interview. Using the Interactional Sociolinguistics approach to discourse analysis, I investigate how she constructs her identity, focusing her professional career, that is organized in a sequence of positive and negative events. In her speech, the narrator constructs an image of a hard worker, and a brave person. I also observe how the Portuguese culture, specially the Portuguese culture of an immigrant in Brazil, informs her construction of identity.

[en] THE IDENTITY CONSTRUCTION OF FOUR PUBLIC COUNSELORS IN THE STATE OF RIO DE JANEIRO: A NARRATIVE ANALYSIS / [pt] A CONSTRUÇÃO IDENTITÁRIA DE QUATRO CONSELHEIROS TUTELARES ATUANTES NO ESTADO DO RIO DE JANEIRO: UMA ANÁLISE NARRATIVA

MARCELLA DA SILVA CORREA 06 November 2012 (has links)
[en] This research examines interviews with four public counselors in the State of Rio de Janeiro aiming to analise the construction of their identities through the histories they narrate. The central topic of the interviews is violence against disabled children and adolescents; this research also examines the way public counselors deal with this issue. This is a qualitative research that analyses discourse through a sociointeractional perspective of the narrative analyses. The focus of this work will be on the counselors’ narratives about their lives before and while working as a counselor. This study reveals that narratives are important tools to understand how identities are created and also about the counselors’ work. The narrative analysis leads me to observe that counselors present similarities in social issues and also in defining disability. On the other hand, they show differences related to religious aspects and about initial acceptation of the position at the public councils.

[en] NARRATIVE PRACTICES IN CONCILIATION HEARINGS AT PROCON / [pt] PRÁTICAS NARRATIVAS EM AUDIÊNCIAS DE CONCILIAÇÃO NO PROCON

RAQUEL BRIGATTE 06 April 2009 (has links)
[en] This work investigates narrative practices developed by complainant and complainer in conciliation hearings at PROCON from two cities of Minas Gerais State. We assume that the storytelling framed by this setting has some characteristics that differs for example from the narratives told in spontaneous and other institutional contexts. Based on the intersection between Interactional Sociolinguistics and Ethnomethodological conversation analysis, we examine how shapes and functions of narrative constructions in this setting build and are built by the institutionality of the interaction. We focused on how complainant and complainer show different orientations about the responsibility for that damaging action, which is very present on narrative constructions at PROCON. Throughout narrative development, the disputants engage on a dispute over the definition of the situation making use of discourse strategies in order to present legitimacy and credibility to their narrations. We consider that the dynamic of identity formulations developed during narrations through evaluation elements is focused on strategic interventions used by the participants to shape their meanings about the facts. We also examine how the mediator`s institutional task during hearings is crucial for the development of narrative practices and construction and negotiation of the definition of the situation.

[en] THE VOICE OF THE OTHER IN CONTEMPORARY BRAZILIAN CINEMA: THE PROBLEM WITH THE FIRST PERSON / [pt] A VOZ DO OUTRO NO CINEMA BRASILEIRO CONTEMPORÂNEO: A QUESTÃO DA PRIMEIRA PESSOA

EDUARDO MIRANDA SILVA 29 October 2009 (has links)
[en] The goal of the dissertation is to investigate the construction of narratives in the first person in contemporary Brazilian cinema, considering the criticisms made in the 1970’s against the Voice of Authority and the use of the third person, predominately in Cinema Novo - the fruit of a period in which the arts traveled in consonance with a collective and egalitarian project of the nation, confident in the importance of the role of the artist to educate the people. Starting with the hypothesis that, in the post-Military Dictatorship, between the autocracy of intellectual directors and the rise of Direct Cinema, using the direct capture of image and sound, to analyze the consequences of giving voice to other classes in current cinema. The rise of the first person in Brazilian documentary, with emphasis on the interview, provides means to comprehend the ethical debate that surrounded cinema in the first person, in the beginning of the 21st century. In the selection of the dissertation the following films were chosen for analysis: O homem que copiava (2003), by Jorge Furtado, Cidade de Deus (2002), by Fernando Meirelles and Tropa de Elite (2007), by José Padilha.

[en] Several authors have already studied the links between the narrative experience and the death representation and, based on it, this research makes a second thematic share: the epidemic phenomenon of AIDS in the last two decades of the XX century. For the first analysis some works have been chosen (in different medias) made by HIV-positive persons in the circumstance of the terminal diagnosis. From this group of works it has been selected the Savage Nights of Cyril Collard as a case study useful for analyzing the aspects involved on the act of telling histories in the postmodernity witch emerges in a very particular way in the dealing with this illness.

[pt] CREIO FIRMEMENTE QUE DESDE SEMPRE O SENHOR ME CRIOU PARA SER SACERDOTE: A VOCAÇÃO SACERDOTAL À LUZ DA ANÁLISE DE NARRATIVA / [en] I FIRMLY BELIEVE THAT THE LORD HAS ALWAYS RAISED ME TO BE A PRIEST: THE PRIESTLY VOCATION IN THE LIGHT OF NARRATIVE ANALYSIS

[en] The present dissertation investigates, through the Narrative Analysis and the theoretical contribution offered by Interational Sociolinguistics, the vocational narratives of future priests who are still in the formative process in institutions known as Seminary. The data presented in this research were generated in qualitative interviews with seminarians residing in the same Seminary as the researcher, who is also a seminarian. The research also has an auto-ethnographic sensitivity, since the researcher is also an integral part of a Catholic Seminary and, therefore, an active member of the same community that served as a research field. The analysis, of a qualitative and interpretative nature, takes place in a micro-interactional perspective and from the theoretical framework of Narrative Analysis (LABOV and WALETSKY, 1968; LABOV, 1972; BRUNER, 1997; LINDE, among others). Yet, we use the notion of Total Institution (GOFFMAN, 1961; FOUCAULT, 2006) to understand questions about the context in which these narratives are produced. The results describe that these narratives are based on a system of coherence of their own, in which rhetorical movements of orientation and evaluation are articulated, among which we highlight successful or successful evaluations of vocational choice and the idea of that the divine call is eternal and therefore innate. Also, it is possible to perceive the complex narrative construction in which the notion of agency is sometimes attenuated by the narrator due to the constant presence of two agents: I and God. In addition, the data indicate that these micronarratives dialogue with great narratives (BRUNER, 1997; SHOSHANA, 2013) understood by us as canonical and institutionally diffused among the seminarians.
