Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka hur kommunikation i instrumentalundervisning kan förstås i förhållande till teorier om dialog och dialogisk undervisning. Med avstamp i den ryske litteraturteoretikern Michail Bachtins dialogbegrepp och med tankar och forskning om dialogisk undervisning som referenspunkter undersöks det i denna uppsats hur kommunikation i individuell instrumentalundervisning respektive ensembleundervisning kan se ut och förstås. En instrumentallärare som arbetar på en kommunal kulturskola har observerats när denne undervisar elever individuellt samt i ensemble. Observationerna har strukturerats och analyserats med hjälp av begrepp och idéer om dialogisk undervisning i klassrumssituation. Under observations- och analysprocessen har begreppen omarbetats för att kunna belysa det specifika i den instrumentalpedagogiska situationen i allmänhet och den individuella undervisningsformen i synnerhet. Några dialogiska huvudteman har visat sig förekomma i den observerade lärarens undervisning och dessa har kopplats samman med de redan befintliga begreppen om dialogisk undervisning för att på så vis söka förståelse i hur kommunikationen i de observerade undervisningssituationerna kan förstås i förhållande till tidigare forskning. Den musikaliska kommunikationen var det som tydligast skiljde resultatet av undersökningen från den tidigare forskning om dialogisk undervisning som presenterats, och just denna typ av kommunikation visade sig också skilja sig i hur den användes i individuell undervisning respektive ensemble. Det finns i allmänhet grundläggande skillnader i hur kommunikation i grupp och kommunikation mellan enbart två individer fungerar och detta var också något som resultatet av undersökningen underströk. Kommunikationen i de individuella lektionerna kännetecknas av en tät ord- eller yttrandeväxling mellan lärare och elev. Generellt sett kan sägas att huvuddelen av den kommunikation som förekommer i ensembleundervisning också förekommer i individuell undervisning, men i mer koncentrerad form i den senare undervisningsformen.

Individualized teaching in schools with children with learning disabilities is a prerequisite, in order to be able to convey knowledge and teaching in an educational and developing way. The purpose of this study is to explore how musical communication can be used in school's with children with learning disabilities in different ways and how teachers can create an individualized teaching through this, during the music lessons. The study's result describes the interviews that have been conducted that have occurred in varied locations around Sweden with teachers in the subject area music in learning disabilities. The result presents how teachers use musical communication in their teaching and in what way the teaching is tailored to the needs of the students to become developing. The discussion that is linked to the subject of the study focuses on individual adaptation and alternative ways in which the teacher can make use of it in order to obtain an educational teaching, in which the students are given the opportunity for an in-depth understanding and a developed knowledge.

This study investigated the terms used by drummers and audio engineers to describe the recorded drum kit and the processing applied to it. The main method consisted of semi-structured interviews with six professionals in the fields of drumming and audio engineering. The participants were asked to describe five musical samples of different drum kit mixes containing kick, snare and hi-hat sounds. Their descriptions along with explanations of their communication tactics were compared, resulting in explanations of fourteen semantic descriptors. The comparison of their use of the terms in the context of the samples revealed some differences depending on their professional backgrounds. The results suggested that, while audio engineers have a larger semantic lexicon in regards to the recorded drum kit, the differences in the definitions of terms had a larger degree of variation between individuals than between the respective professions.
