Ježíšovo vyčištění jeruzalémského Chrámu: historičnost a teologické akcenty v jednotlivých evangeliích / Jesus' Purification of the Jerusalem Temple: Historicity and Theological Accents in Gospels

Gallas, Leo January 2018 (has links)
The thesis "Jesus Cleansing the Jerusalem Temple: History and Theological Accents in Individual Gospels" deals with the event described by all four canonical Gospels. The paper describes the appearance of the Jerusalem Temple in Jesus' time and selected aspects of its spiritual, political, economic and sociological role in the life of the Jewish population of Palestine in the 1st century AD. The author notices the selected negative circumstances that could have led Jesus of Nazareth to enter the Jerusalem temple with the intention of disrupting the order and returning the Temple to its original purpose. The author pays great attention to evidence to confirm the theory that the "event" in the Temple occurred twice. One at the beginning of Jesus' public activity (described in the Gospel according to John) and once at the end (described in synoptics). Further, the author pays attention to the arguments in support of the historicity of the described events. Keywords Jesus of Nazareth, Jerusalem Temple, Gospel, Historicity, Cleansing of the Temple

This paper seeks to analyze the processes of interaction between faithful and church, specifically in social networking largest Catholic procession of Latin America: The Candle of Our Lady of Nazareth, held every second Sunday of October in the capital of Pará, Belém do Pará. The networking of the Candle, specifically Facebook, are still recents strategies used by the church to evangelize, digital media on calls originating web 2.0 and Cyberculture, in a society in the process of mediatization. In these new communication platforms, religion begins to change their ways of communicating. And the faithful? These are replaced and relevant central role in this new scenario. In this analysis, are discussed changes that begin to emerge in the discourse and practice of the Catholic Church provided by the insertion of the church in the digital world as well as the tensions encountered along this route between saying and doing the religious institution. Are perceived, yet, the differences found in the opinions of the priests themselves, regarding the use, purpose and other details regarding evangelization in the digital medium. As a case study, we analyze the speeches of Internet digital media in the Candle of Nazareth, seeing if there is a change in the mode of being and doing religion and a new way of being religious that is emerging in social networking Internet, with the increasing mediatization of society.

Security of tenure as a means towards achieving improvements in housing in self-help housing projects : a case study of Nazareth and Bester's Camp.

Mbonane, Zakithi. January 1999 (has links)
The research investigates housing improvements in low income settlements in South Africa. Using a comparative study of Bester's Camp and Nazareth, the investigation interrogates the impact of the subsidy scheme provided by the government. This logically encompasses a close scrutiny of such issues as: the land tenure system and its effects on the housing for low income groups, the obstacles that poor households have regarding housing improvements and accessing credit facilities. Burgess' arguments on the income's influence on housing improvements and Turner's idea of security of tenure as a factor laying foundation for housing improvements to take place, respectively, are juxtaposed in order to analyse trends of investments in housing in South Africa. The dissertation endeavours to contribute to the current housing debates by offering recommendations that can go a long way to alleviate the problems raised in the study. / Thesis (M.Sc.U.R.P.)-University of Natal, Durban, 1999.

Vzkříšení Ježíše z Nazaretu jako otázka hermeneutická / Resurrection of Jessus of Nazareth as a Question of Hermeneutics

Mašatová, Nina January 2016 (has links)
The thesis deals with the message of the resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth, which is crucial for Christianity and its relevant hermeneutical approach. In the first chapter we analyze the contemporary hermeneutical context of the message within the Hellenistic and Hebrew cultures. In the second chapter we present an analysis of pre-Pauline faith confessions, Paul's texts and synoptic Gospels focused on targeted formulating of the message for respective communities and their cultural background. The last chapter wants to present some contemporary relevant hermeneutical approaches to this message. One of them could be the so called mythmaking, which emphasizes the necessity of permanent updating of accepted opinions, messages and realities. We can observe the mythmaking process already with the New Testament authors and each and also our generation is expected to bring the message about the resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth to future generations in a relevant way. Prorocký model katecheze jako reakce na otázky naší doby / Prophetic model of catechesis as a response to the questions of our time

Krbec, Jan January 2019 (has links)
The Diploma thesis "Prophetic model of catechesis as a response to the questions of our time" examines the theme of the historical-prophetic model of catechesis. The study part of the work looks at the model in the context of the biblical concept of prophecy consummated in the personality of Jesus of Nazareth and as one of the manifestations of the participation of those baptised in Christ's prophetic office, realised in the evangelical mission of the Church. His sensitivity to social challenges, the emphasis laid on small Christian communities, and the entitlement to Christian engagement are viewed within the scope of the Social Doctrine of the Church and its development after the Second Vatican Council. The authorial part of the work presents original catechesis to the current social topic, read through the prism of gospel and Christian belief. The objective of the work is to show how the historical-prophetic model of catechesis can help adult believers understand the "signs of the times" and contribute to the growth of Christian community. The objective is to be achieved by submitting the topic to the members of two small communities and evaluating the results of the meeting.

Paul's non-violent Gospel : the theological politics of peace in Paul's life and letters

Gabrielson, Jeremy January 2011 (has links)
This thesis advances a claim for the centrality of a politics of peace in early Christianity, with particular focus given to the letters of Paul and the Gospel of Matthew. In brief, I argue that Paul’s task of announcing the gospel to the nations involved calling and equipping assemblies of people whose common life was ordered by a politics (by which I mean, chiefly, a mode of corporate conduct) characterised by peaceableness, and this theological politics was a deliberate participation in the political order announced and inaugurated by Jesus of Nazareth. To this end, there are three main components of the thesis. Chapter Two is focused on the Gospel of Matthew, particularly the way in which violence (and peace) are constructed by the evangelist. Chapter Three bridges the first and third components of the thesis, attending to the important question of the continuity between Jesus and Paul on the issue of non-violence. The third component involves two chapters. Chapter Four attempts to identify the trajectory of violence and peace in Paul’s biography and in the “biography” of his Galatian converts (as he portrays it), and the fifth chapter traces the presence of this non-violent gospel in (arguably) Paul’s earliest letter. The intended effect is to show that a politics of non-violence was an early, central, non-negotiable component of the gospel, that its presence can be detected in a variety of geographical expressions of early Christianity, that this (normally) “ethical” dimension of the gospel has a political aspect as well, and that this political dimension of the gospel stands in stark contrast to the politics of both the contemporary imperial power and those who would seek to replace it through violence.

The role of Archaeology in the Jesus industry

Dyer, Jennifer 12 1900 (has links)
The question leading to this study is whether the facts and theories pertaining to the Bible and Jesus Story as presented by The Authors (H Schonfield, D Joyce, B Thiering, M Baigent, R Leigh, H Lincoln; M Starbird, and D Brown) could be verified by the Archaeology evidence. I have adopted a multidiscipline and holistic approach considering information gathered from all media sources to ascertain what theories, if any could replace the traditional Jesus Story of the New Testament. I considered whether the alternative theories or traditional theories were believable due to the evidence presented by Biblical Archaeology or by the techniques used by The Authors in presenting their facts. By using Thouless’ system of Straight and Crooked thinking I was able to ascertain that the theories used in the novels written by The Authors may have been persuasive, but lacked substance. / Biblical and Ancient Studies / M.
