Massmedia och socialtjänsten : -framställning och påverkan

Herrmansson, Klas, Bastos, Fanny January 2013 (has links)

Brown, Hillary L 06 July 2012 (has links)
On January 12, 2010, the Caribbean nation of Haiti suffered from one of the most devastating earthquake in recent history. The purpose of this study is to explore representations of Haiti in Western news media coverage of the disaster. The researcher utilized Jiwani’s (2006) theoretical framework of common sense stock knowledge to explore the relationship between the Western news media and Haiti, with an emphasis on media framing. Additionally, the method of journalistic discourse analysis was employed as a means of analyzing the 90 article sample. The researcher found that there were several frames that dominated coverage of the disaster which resulted in the marginalization of Haiti and Haitians.

Kommentera här! : En kvalitativ studie om nyhetssajters kommentarsfunktioner

Thorsell, Johan January 2011 (has links)
This study builds on the discussion of the comment field that is related to news sites articles. The debate culminated in the summer of 2011 when several news sites changed their conduct and in some cases also the technologies used. This study intended to investigate whether the choice of technology for annotation affects users' willingness to communication on newssites, but also to elucidate possible underlying factors for this. This has been carried out by obseravtions and interview studys. The results of this study indicate that communication is affected by the choice of technical solution. And that lack of control is one of the determining factors of whether the user is willing to comment on an article.

Syns du inte - finns du inte : En kvantitativ studie om inverkan av kön och andra sociala kategorier på människorssynlighet i Aktuellt och Rapport

Huhta, Helena January 2009 (has links)
Title: If you can not be seen - You do not exist: A quantitative study of how gender and other socialfactors affect the degree of visibility in the Swedish newscasts of Aktuellt and Rapport. (Syns duinte finns du inte: En kvantitativ studie om inverkan av kön och andra sociala aspekter påmänniskors synlighet i Aktuellt och Rapport).Number of pages: 46Author: Helena HuhtaTutor: Martin FredrikssonCourse: Media and Communication Science CPeriod: Autumn of 2009University: Division of Informatics and Media, Uppsala UniversityPurpose/Aim: The aim of this study has been to investigate to what degree women and menparticipate in the newscasts of Aktuellt and Rapport, broadcast on the Swedish public servicechannels of SVT 1 and SVT 2. Furthermore, I have also looked into how social identities, such asage and ethnicity, affect the degree of representation for each gender, respectively. Some of thebasic research questions comprise: 1. how much space is given to men compared to women in termsof: number of participants for each gender, speaking time and position in the news order? 2. Howdo the roles differ for male and female participants in terms of position and topic? 3. How do ageand ethnicity affect the degree of visibility for men and women in Aktuellt and Rapport?Material/Method: This study has been carried out as a quantitative content analysis of Aktuellt andRapport, during ten weekdays in October and November of 2009. The research units included in thestudy consist of all people visible and talking actively, on screen during the domestic news, of saidperiod, in Aktuellt and Rapport.Main results: The results show that men are more visible than women, due to there being a largernumber of male participants, and men also having a tendency to get longer speaking times.Regarding roles, women participate to a much greater extent as private persons than men - the latterrather being made visible as representatives. The main subject areas between the genders also differ, where women usually occur in a “soft news” context, and men in “hard news” context. When looking into the intersection between gender and age, the newscasts have a tendency todisplay younger females and older males. Hence, the female participants seem to have adiminishing chance of being seen as they grow older, while there is an opposite tendency for maleparticipants. Finally, regarding the intersection between ethnicity and gender, the study has shown that thegenders are more evenly represented among people of a non Swedish origin. The ethnic minoritiesare, however, underrepresented in these newscasts as a whole. Keywords: gender, ethnicity, age, intersectionality, news, media, representation.

”Självklart kan jag ställa upp i tidningen igen” : En studie i hur journalister och intervjupersoner ser på intervjun och nyhetsartikeln / “I’m absolutely willing to participate for the newspaper once again”

Dahlqvist, Melissa, Uhlin, Louise January 2009 (has links)
In this study we have investigated the news interview both from the perspective of the journalists and of the subjects of the interview. We have made interviews with 50 persons who participated as sources in the news and with 21 journalist who wrote the articles in the local newspapers Östran and Barometern in Kalmar, the 21 of November 2008. The journalists were asked to tell their story of how the articles where produced, how they prepared before the interviews, if they had an image of the articles in advance and if they were satisfied with the outcome of the article. The persons who had been interviewed were asked to tell us how they felt about the interviews, if they were satisfied with the outcome of the article, if they could consider being in the newspaper again and to give their opinion of local journalism. Most of the persons who had been quoted in the articles said that at least one or two things went wrong in the articles. Despite this they would not hesitate to be interviewed the newspaper again. Surprising for us was to see how often the journalists get “served” with both the news and the subjects of the interview. It was for an example often that the Journalists visited press conferences and wrote articles from press releases. When the journalists produced news in this way, they simply interviewed those present at the press conference or the contact person in the press release

news report and anchor's image

Sung, Yi-hsuan 07 July 2005 (has links)
In Western, many television networks always expend largely to mold the star anchor for raising rating. They believe that the more attractive the anchor¡¦s image, the higher the rating. Since the first cable television station has established in Taiwan in 1993, the competition among television stations to attractive the audience become intense. The way to make up anchor¡¦s image is changed; we can read anchor¡¦s stories in newspaper in various ways. General speaking, the only one purpose for publicizing is rating. The main purpose of this study is in connection with news report and anchor¡¦s image. The experimental design is to figure out audiences¡¦ reactions between different newspaper contents (the love & marriage life news and the family life news) and the different aspects (the positive, the negative and the neutral reports). Therefore, the study will also focus on the relationship between anchor¡¦s image and audiences¡¦ television news choices. The study uses questionnaire to collect the data and infers the following results: 1.News report is remarkable to influence anchor¡¦s image. 2.The news report about anchor¡¦s love and marriage has the stronger influence with anchor¡¦s image than the news report about anchor¡¦s family life. 3.It influences with anchor¡¦s ¡§personal glamour¡¨, ¡§professional ability to cover news item¡¨, ¡§trusty¡¨ and ¡§authoritative¡¨ when audiences read the news report about anchor¡¦s love and marriage. 4.The audiences¡¦ imaging evaluations for the news anchor that come from¡¨ negative report¡¨ is apparently higher than other evaluations (which come) from positive and neutral reports. 5.There is the highly positive relationship between the imaging index of the news anchor and the intention of the audience.

A Study on Information Seeking Behavior on the World Wide Web--A Case Study of News Database

Sung, Su-Yen 10 August 2005 (has links)
Information Acquisition is the most essential and the most widely¡Vused function on the Internet. The Internet provides a platform on which News to be communicated to users faster and services to be delivered more efficiently. With the growth of users on the Internet, the online news database becomes a powerful tool of information acquisition under the integration of computers and communication technologies. Users can find useful information related to their work and daily life very easily. The purpose of this research is to investigate the information acquisition behavior affiliated with different uses of on-line news database. We use the Task-Technology Fit Model proposed by Goodhue and Thompson (1995) to investigate whether a better fit can result in a better decision satisfaction. An experiment was designed to study the user satisfaction under different settings of task characteristics and search tools. The results indicate that different search tools result in different satisfaction levels. More specifically, the keyword search has resulted a higher user satisfaction than the classified catalog search tool. Unfortunately, we do not find a better fit between task characteristics and the search tool can result in a higher user satisfaction. The findings can tell why Google, a pure keyword search engine, becomes dominating on the Internet search. It also provides implications for the design of search tools and the improvement on the functions of classified catalogs for developing on-line news Databases.

The strategies of the reporters employed when they encountered pressure.

Chen, Hung-jui 27 July 2006 (has links)
In a modern democratic society, election has become the most common way in which people participate in politics. Moreover, voting is the presentation and consequences of people¡¦s opinions. Therefore, during the period of election, all the information people saw or heard through the mass media might influence people¡¦s decisions of their votes, their attitudes, and their behaviors. Along with the strengthening of Taiwan¡¦s democracy, the political cultures in Taiwan have been changing. Meanwhile, the interactions between politicians and mass media and the distributions of powers have been changing. The relationships between the political systems and the news media are multiple and complicated. The reporters, the elementary gate keeper, are certainly the first target the candidates want to influence. The various ways of influence, either ¡§threatening¡¨ or ¡§seduction¡¨, create ¡§pressure¡¨ on the reporters when they report news relevant to the election. Thus, the motivation and purposes of this study were to investigate the strategies the reporters employed when they encountered pressure. This study made use of questionnaires to collect data. This study surveyed the reporters in the big Kaohsiung area (Kaohsiung City and Kaohsiung County) to analyze ¡§the strategies the reporters employed when they encountered pressure.¡¨ This study recruited 113 valid questionnaires. The results show that when the reporters reported news relevant to the 2004 legislators¡¦ election, the pressure the reporters in the big Kaohsiung area received was lobbying, followed by advertisements and other stress related to profits. The pressure from the news office was also common. As a result, the attempts to influence news about the election were multiple. As for the pressure from the gangsters, it was rare; less than 10 percent of the subjects had ever received such pressure. As far as the strategies employed, a high percentage of the reporters in the big Kaohsiung area adopted the strategy ¡§compromise¡¨, followed by ¡§direct confrontation¡¨ and ¡§ignorance¡¨. Furthermore, the results demonstrate that ¡§compromise¡¨ was the most frequent strategy adopted by the reporters when they received pressure from the news office. This finding illustrates that the key influence on the reporters came from the controlling power of the media organizations. When it comes to the advertisements and other stress related to profits, the reporters usually employed the strategies ¡§compromise¡¨ and ¡§cooperation¡¨; the percentage reached 80%. Such an overwhelming percentage demonstrates the serious interference from the departments of advertisements and businesses in news reports.

The Impact of The Third-Person Effect on Negative Naval News ¡Xa Case of R.O.C Navy

Chu, Kuo-liang 31 August 2009 (has links)
Uniqueness and complexity of military news usually enrich and enhance the significance of the news. Sometimes simple issues are even further elaborated to become negative turmoil and multiple matters. The navy, being in a rapidly changing and multiple-form society, has been expressed in different forms by media of different natures. Sometimes, the navy is even perceived with different ideologies according to descriptions of different media. Ways that the officers and men of the navy as well as the general public view the negative news of the military and the impacts are worth further attention. Hence, this research, based on applications and perspectives of the relevant mass communication theory, is performed by quantifying the questionnaires, and investigates the impact of negative news on officers and men of the navy as well as the third-person effect. In addition, the relationship between the third-person effect and supports of media control. This research has managed to derive four conclusions: The first finding is the verification of existence of ¡§the third-person effect¡¨, i.e. people generally think that the impact of negative naval news on others is greater than that of oneself. The second finding is that the greater the perception of the third-person effect by the interviewed officers and men of the navy, the greater is the willingness to be inclined to controlling the mass media so as to mitigate the negative effects of the negative news about the navy on the general public. The third important finding is that the variable, population, presents a certain degree of relevancy to the third-person effect. This result is the same as the results of other researches. With regard to the perception of the third-person effect by oneself, other officers and men and the general public, the rank, seniority, and education of the population variable present respective obvious relevancy. In particular, age level appears in the third-person effect on ¡§other officers and men¡¨ and ¡§the general public¡¨, showing that the age level has greater impact on the perception of the third-person effect by the navy officers and men. The last important finding is about the information source. Television is the main source of information for most of the navy officers and men. Internet has surpassed newspaper as the second source of information, which is slightly different when compared to the past researches. This finding is thus worth further investigation in future work.
