We propose in this thesis an analysis and comparison of intellectual paths and political postures of Octavio Paz, Gabriel García Márquez and Mario Vargas Llosa, which it allows to understand Latin America’s intellectual history in the second half of the 20th century. During the 1960’s Latin American intellectuals were marked with Cuban revolution and world’s political context: Cold War, Vietnam War, Prague’s invasion and student protests around the world. Paz, García Márquez and Vargas Llosa were part of this period, that’s why with this work we compare them as intellectuals and they have different postures. The main objective of this thesis is to compare their intellectual involvement, within the context of Latin American and French intellectual history (concepts and theories in 20th century). For this reason, we analyze and compare theirs ideological formations, intellectual conjunctions and disjunctions, involvement in four conjunctures (Cuban revolution, Coup d’État in Chile, Sandinism in Nicaragua and EZLN in Mexico) and theirs intellectual figure’s representations. Therefore we show that in Latin America we find intellectual involvement at the end of the 20th century, which allow us to propose a “lettered city’s regeneration”.

The Effects of a Nobel Prize : How Boris Pasternak's Nobel Prize in Literature Contributed to Disseminating his AuthorshipPetersson, Isak January 2014 (has links)
This study explores and sheds light upon the relations between Russian author Boris Pasternak’s Nobel Prize in Literature (1958) and the subsequent proliferation of his authorship. The study’s aim is partly to define the Nobel Prize and its role as a distributor of culture, but also to problematize the complex nature of cultural prizes and their influence over cultural production. In order to do this two areas have been analysed: Pasternak’s publication in Swedish and his occurrence in Swedish daily press between 1953–2013. The analysis exemplifies the strong consecrating power of the Nobel prize, as well as its ability to, in a longer perspective, solidify an author into a literary canon. In line with English’s theory on how cultural prizes have come to serve as forums for capital intraconversion, it is also evident in Pasternak’s example how several of the involved parties have capitalized on the prize by trading cultural, economic and medial capital. Furthermore, the analysis concretizes how the cultural prize apparatus produces and reinforces cultural value, and consequently not only influences the cultural scene, but also has the potential to sway public political opinion.

開放取用系統與商業資料庫之書目計量比較研究-以諾貝爾生物醫學獎為例 / A Bibliometric Study on Open Access Systems and Commercialized databases: The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine Literature Approach潘梓其, Pan, Tzu Chi Unknown Date (has links)
The International Scholarly Communication has gradually forwarded open access system since the publication of Budapest Declaration in 2003. Under this research background, this study uses biomedical Nobel Prize winners in recent years for the study of 23 samples of appraisal in the commercial database (SCIE, Scopus) and open access systems (biomedical categories: Pubmed, Highwire ; Comprehensive: Google Scholar) literature collection status, in addition to comparing repeatability and integrity of its internal and cross-comparison of the five databases and system repeatability, uniqueness and integrity, while also viewing the ability to obtain the ratio of text to understand current status of open access literature, and then observe the open access systems and commercial databases whether the two can complement each other, or open access database system instead of commercial possibilities.
The results showed that five databases have different retrieval systems in many different forms. For the purposes of retrieval, Scopus collections are more complete; SCIE and Pubmed are the most similar two databases in the search results. Inclusion academic publishing purposes, Highwire is the most complete one. For Google Scholar, the collection’s uniqueness is the highest. Overall, comparing the open access system with commercial database, open access system contains a high proportion of full text. Scopus is the most one of full text collections. The PNAS study also found that five of the duplicate database and system sources and unique source. In addition, the use of PubMed and Highwire retrieved biomedical literature is more professional than Google Scholar.
According to the study results suggest that commercial databases can be considered included in the scope of network resources into the open, in order to properly organize network resources and application of bibliographic and full-text. Open access system should improve the accuracy and bibliographic indexing bibliographic completeness. In addition, for the library service should take the following measures in response to: (a) enhance the promotion of commercial database retrieval methods and the use of proper timing; (2) to teach the proper use of open access system retrieval mode; (3) Balance Business open access database and use of the system, in order to achieve rational use of library funds.
The follow-up research of this study can be extended to the field of clinical and biomedical evidence-based medicine research. The follow-up research results can be used to understand the biomedical literature’ timeliness, whether the system reaches an open access immediate or practicality. Furthermore, users' satisfaction with open access scholarly publishing research is also an anxious subject to know, and the follow-up study will strengthen efforts.
