Årsredovisningens nytta :  För ickeprofessionella investerare / The value of an annual report :  For a non professional investor

Malmberg, Henrik, Runströmer, Jacob January 2012 (has links)
Aim: The essay should examine how Swedish non-professional investors use annual reports in their choices of capital investment in securities and what benefits the annual report has in their choices. The essay should also examine if the non-professional investors have some problems in their interpretation of the annual reports. Method: The essay use both qualitative and quantitative methods in form of interviews and survey. Conclusion: 50% of the non-professional investors think that they have benefits from the annual report in their capital investment decisions. CEO:s statement in the annual report, management report and auditor's report is used the most. The most difficult parts are the values in the balance sheet, cash flow statement and notes. Suggestion for future research: Conducting a similar study with interviews with non professional investors. Find out which account is taken of investors with less financial knowledge in the preparation of annual reports.

Retail Investors' Perceptions of Financial Disclosures on Social Media: An Experimental Investigation Using Twitter

Snow, Neal Michael 27 March 2015 (has links)
Historically, companies disseminated financial information via the press release. The ability to disseminate information now exists on multiple "new media" channels beyond just the press release, with each channel reaching a different audience. With the different channels of communication come different connotations and associations that people have about the channels, which may affect the interpretation of the message, thereby altering management's ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders. I investigate whether retail investors' processing of financial information disclosures is dependent upon the fit between the channel and the type of information sent on the channel. Using the Elaboration Likelihood Model, I experimentally test how good and bad financial information posted on a social media channel, Twitter, compares to a more traditional channel, a company investor relations page where financial information is traditionally posted. I find that Twitter is associated with investors processing financial information unconsciously on the peripheral route while conscious or central route processing is associated with information coming from the company's investor relations page. Additionally, I find that investors have lower perceptions of management credibility after viewing financial disclosures on a company's Twitter feed than after viewing the same disclosures on the company's investor relations page.

Lavett, Alexander, Sevastik, Michael January 2019 (has links)
Sustainability documents have become more common in recent years and now sustainability reports have become mandatory for organizations meeting certain criteria. The sustainability reports drawn up according to the statutory requirements also have a requirement to obtain an opinion, at a limited level, from an auditor. On sustainability accounting, which are voluntary, the organization can choose to hire an auditor for review at a reasonable level, which is more extensive. The purpose of this study is to investigate the process of reviews and whether it delivers quality from the auditor's perspective. In addition, to examine non-professional investors' assessment of the audit performed. This was done through six in-depth interviews with auditors and eight interviews with non-professional investors. Conclusions from the study show that the auditor through their role contributes to an increase in quality with the reasonable review, but there are shortcomings in quality at the limited review. The studies also found that non-professional investors were not affected by audited or unexamined sustainability documents at investment choices, but that they consider it important that sustainability documents are drawn up and reviewed.
