Välgörenhetsorganisationers marknadsföring : "First they open their hearts, then their minds and then they will open their wallets". (Maud Randel)

Carlsson, Mita, Ekholm, Karin, Zamorano, Nathalie January 2009 (has links)
Our reason for this study is to research how non- profit organizations focused on fundraising, market themselves to create and keep the relationships with their potential and existing contributors. With this study we also want to create an image of the meaning of marketing, applied to non- profit organizations focused on fundraisings, struggle towards attracting more contributors. We also aim to research what our respondents believe will be the outcomes of marketing on nonprofit organizations in the future. For this essay we have chosen a qualitative method which consists of six interviews with respondents whom have different knowledge and experiences of the non- profit sector. We chose this method to be able to view our main subject from different aspects and through the interviews also form a more profound picture of the non- profit sector and also, finally, se what the respondents think about the issue. We have further from our analysis formed a discussion which has later brought us to our conclusions. We can therefore with this state that the marketing of non- profit organizations focused on fundraising is essential to be able to form relationships with potential contributors. We also find that these organizations trough marketing communications can enhance their brand and attract the attention of the people. Our conclusion also shows that the marketing of non- profit focused on fundraising can result in both positive and negative effects. Ultimately we find through our discussion that, the non- profit organizations focused on fundraising lack different aspects of their planning and we therefore find that the primary improvement is not only by feedback to the contributors but also by making different activities to further create strong relationship with their contributors and partners.

An Investigation of the Donation Willingness of the Donators of the Non-Profit Organizations: A Comparison Between Religious and Non-religious Organizations

Hsin, Jia-chen 22 June 2009 (has links)
Because of the diversity of the society, the contents of the service and production provided by the public department (Government) and the private department (Business) can not fit the present and future needs. Based on the failures of the functions of the society and the government,NPO or NGO is flourishing to make up for the insufficiency of the two departments. There is a vigorous development of NPOs in Taiwan since 921 earthquake, and the numbers of NPOs rise steeply. As to NPOs,it is very critical to understand the donation willingness of the donators on the situation of limited society resources and private donations. The goals of the research are to discuss the donation willingness of the donators of the NPOs including the personalities, motives, religious beliefs of the donators, the fame of NPOs,the extent of expositions of information and the usage of the donation. And then probe the causes of the donation willingness of the donators. The goals of the rsearch are as following: 1.To probe the recognition of the NPOs managers, volunteers and donators to influence the donation willingness of the donators in Kaohsiung district. 2.To analyze the factors that influence the donators of the NPOs in Kaohsiung district. 3.To provide the suggestions to the managers of the NPOs in Kaohsiung district.

Investigating Servant Leadership in the Context of Cause-Related Sporting Events

Parris, Denise 2011 December 1900 (has links)
This dissertation presents three separate studies designed to provide systematic and evidence-based insight into how servant leadership could be a crucial success factor in helping non-profit organizations (NPOs) hosting cause-related sporting events achieve their missions. Thus, the purpose of my dissertation was to advance the literature and the practice of servant leadership. In Study one, I conducted a systematic literature review of studies that explored an application of servant leadership. A disciplined screening process resulted in a sample population of 39 studies. The synthesis of these applied studies revealed: a) there is no consensus on the definition of servant leadership; b) servant leadership is being applied across a variety of contexts, cultures, and themes; c) researchers are using multiple measures to explore servant leadership; and d) these studies provide strong evidence that servant leadership helps organizations and improves the well-being of followers. In Study two, I explored the leadership style of the founder of a cause-related sporting event to understand how this leadership style motivated volunteers. This was achieved through semi-structured personal interviews, document analysis, and personal observations of the 25th National Kidney Foundation (NKF) Surf Festival. Results indicated that the founder was a servant leader who influenced volunteer motivation by generating a shared vision dedicated to helping others, building a caring and loving community, and creating the freedom and resources for followers to become servants themselves. In Study three, using a longitudinal case study, I qualitatively explored if a cause-related sporting event could inspire participants to become servant leaders, and if so, how does the event achieve this? Data collection methods included focus groups, open-ended qualitative questionnaires, direct observations, document analysis, and semi-structured personal interviews with participants of the U.S. NKF Transplant Games, specifically Team Florida. Analyses revealed the event inspired participants to serve others and helped to build a community of servant leaders. It was found that three specific mechanisms of the Games generated community-level outcomes, which led to impacts on participants and helped them develop servant leadership. I then developed a model to describe a cause-related sporting event's ability to inspire participants to become servant leaders.

Power and the vélorution: cycling advocacy, social networking and grassroots change in Winnipeg, MB

Kliewer, Karin Jonelle 22 December 2009 (has links)
Bike to the Future is an Active Transportation advocacy organization in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Since its incorporation in 2007, active transportation attitudes, policies, funding, and infrastructure have improved substantially in the city. Many successes have been attributed to this organization, representatives of which are now considered to be the Winnipeg experts in cycling infrastructure and policy creation. This thesis explores how people who use (or want to use) a comparatively marginalized traffic form empowered themselves and spurred on positive changes to cycling policy and infrastructure. The literature review offers a larger context for the importance of power analysis, collaborative planning and the work of Bike to the Future. This provides a framework overview of power discussions in planning discourse, and connects heterarchical power structures to collaborative planning theory and strategic networking. Research for this project involved a case study of the work of Bike to the Future. Four different research methods were employed during different stages of research, including media and literature searches (of news sources, blogs, and planning literature), a case study, semi-structured interviews, and participant observation. The work of Bike to the Future has also shown that influence can be strengthened when different power resources—powers of knowledge, speech, place, and political and market powers – are used. The value of using different power structures, hierarchical and heterarchical, is highlighted. In order to be most effective, this study suggests all structures and resources must be used cooperatively and collaboratively. Because of its ability to engage wide audiences, recognize interdependence, and connect the different types of knowledge and expertise, Bike to the Future can be understood as a collaborative success. Although at the time of this study, this organization was susceptible to volunteer schedules and burnout, its networking potential and networking power was strong. These will continue to be major assets in the evolution of this organization evolution. Lessons learned from this research process may be useful for many other groups seeking to expand their influence in decision-making realms and on multiple fronts.

Knöpker, Mônica January 2018 (has links)
Belonging to the theoretical framework of Cultural Studies in Education, specifically its poststructuralist branch, this research aims to analyze the pedagogy performed by some civil society non-profit organizations in the niche of teacher education and the possible truth effects that it may disseminate. Its empirical corpus is composed by materials available online about the working system of these institutions and through documents related to five strategies identified as ways of implementation of this pedagogy, such as: a) award editions and exaltation of successful experiences; b) research conduction and publicizing; c) publication of journals, books, and other documents; d) discussions in education participation; and e) education programs and independent courses offers. In order to analyze these materials, I searched theoretical and methodological inspiration in Foucault’s production on discourse. Besides contributing on this sense, Foucault were part of the theoretical background in the discussions on neoliberalism and education along with others such as Ball, Peck, Gadelha, López-Ruiz, Sibilia. To approach civil society non-profit organizations, I resorted to Ferrarezi, Cassepp, Oliveira e Haddad. In terms of pedagogie(s), I found theoretical support on works by Costa, Camozzato, Andrade, Veiga-Neto, among others. The thesis defended throughout this research is that the organizations analized put into practice a pedagogy which I have named as hybrid since it results from a combination of characteristics from both school and cultural pedagogies. This hybrid pedagogy produces its own necessities, and it operates with the intent of making the aimed learning outcomes effective through cycle processes that have, as a starting (and arrival) point, models already established by institutions which have implemented them: models of teacher education, in the first case; and models of teachers themselves, in the second case. Moreover, it is also part of this argumentative thesis the proposition that the pedagogy under analysis, while disseminating pedagogies strong related to neoliberal logic precepts, would allow for making neoliberalism work ‘inside us’, ‘constituting us’, as Ball (2014) has claimed. This is an special strategic way, because having the focus on teacher education may potentialize the internalization of investments on neoliberal ideas, since the effects of this pedagogy not only impact teachers, but also their students, and through them, mostly likely the society as a whole. By making this rationale work in this way, the hybrid pedagogy contributes to the reduction of neoliberalism exogenous strategies to maintain the prevailing logic.

Ligas Acadêmicas de Medicina na UNIFESP: papel na formação do graduando e importância da busca ativa de informação científica / Academic Leagues (Interest Groups) in Medical Course of UNIFESP: role in undergraduate medical students and importance in active search of scientific information

Hornero, Zuleika Molina January 2015 (has links)
Made available in DSpace on 2018-06-18T13:12:05Z (GMT). / Introduction: Interest Groups (IGs) in Medical Schools are formed by groups of undergraduate students with a common interest, which meet periodically to carry out theoretical and practical activities related to a field of future professional activities, supervised, on a voluntary basis, by a teacher of doctor from the area. Practical activities (medical consultations) consists of patient care, participation in study groups and follow-up procedures, among others. The Medicine IGs therefore play a peculiar role in medical education, as students have the opportunity to make active and freely choices, develop innovative initiatives, exchange experiences and interact with colleagues interested in the same issues. The first search question was how these students perform the search for scientific information that subsidize their study, in the activities already mentioned of IGs. Such a question was later replaced to the role of the IGs in the students' training process, as a hole. This study turns to the importance of Medical IGs in UNIFESP in the training curriculum of the students and in this context, the role of accessing scientific information sources. Objectives: The study aims at investigating the participation of medical students of UNIFESP, focusing the development of their medical training and the systematic use of scientific literature information in their activities. Methodology: Considering the nature of the information to be got and analyzed, a qualitative approach was used. First, a document search was conducted, in order to raise historical data about IGs in general and particularly in UNIFESP. Later, a population of students and supervisors of IGs was interviewed. Results and Discussion: The students searched for IGs in order to complement their school training, looking forward to have contact with patients. They valued theoretical activities because these were related to consultation issues. Several students stated they wanted to perform scientific research, although they and their supervisors observed a poor capacity of searching scientific information in literature. They also appreciated the interaction with students from other years, as well as supervision of small groups of students and responsibility for their tasks. Conclusions: Taking part in IGs was considered of great importance in the students’ training, not only in developing theoretical and practical skills, but also specially for their growing as “being doctors”. The interviewed considered particularly the construction of a humanistic practice in their future exercise of medical profession.

Implementace supervize sociální práce do nestátních neziskových organizací / Implementation of Social Work Supervision in Non-governmental Non-profit Organizations

VOŠVRDOVÁ, Vanda January 2013 (has links)
This thesis deals with the implementation of social work supervision in non-governmental non-profit organizations. Supervision is a staff support tool, a form of learning; it ensures the quality of provided services and is also a very important measure against burnout syndrome. The theoretical part focuses on the definition of supervision, its origin and development. The implementation of supervision to organizations is influenced by various factors, which are addressed in this thesis. Supervision is one of the ways for promoting an independent qualified expert for social workers, as imposed by the Social Service Quality Standards. The aim of this thesis is to determine what entails the implementation of social work supervision to non-governmental non-profit organizations providing social services in the district of Chrudim. The practical part presents results of qualitative research. Hypotheses are defined in the conclusion. The research questions are: - What are the obstacles to the implementation of supervision to non-governmental non-profit organizations providing social services? How is supervision accepted by workers of non-governmental non-profit organizations providing social services? How is supervision accepted by directors/managers of non-governmental non-profit organizations providing social services? The research was carried out in the form of interviews, using the technique of semi-standardized interview with directors and workers of selected organizations. The section Results shows results of the interviews with directors and workers. In the discussion I deal with the results and focus on the areas I wanted to explore in particular?that is, I am looking for answers to the research questions. The answer to the first question is that the obstacle to the implementation of supervision to non-governmental non-profit organizations providing social services is represented by the lack of financial resources. The answer to the second and third questions is that the staff as well as the directors of non-governmental non-profit organizations providing social services accept supervision positively. At the end of the discussion, I provide three hypotheses based on the answers to the research questions.

Negócios sociais e valores pessoais: um estudo quantitativo com estudantes de administração / Social business and personal values: a quantitative study with business administration students

Talita Rosolen 03 October 2014 (has links)
Social and environmental challenges resulting from the current economic system began to gain more space in the discussions and activities of business, government and civil society. Concepts such as sustainable development, corporate social responsibility and sustainability have become increasingly widespread and social business emerged as a new kind of organization, whose purpose is the generation of social and/or environmental value along with the financial, and its model may vary between the private and the third sector. For the strengthening of such organizations, it is necessary to have professionals with values related to the care of others and with the collective, which can direct to act in a socially or environmentally responsible way. Simultaneously to the evolution of the field of social business, it could be noticed the growing number of people seeking responsible professional occupations linked to their values, independently of organizational boundaries, which are characteristics of boundaryless career and the protean career. Given the importance of individual action in the strengthening of social business, and the major role of personal values in the career decisions of individuals, there is a need for researches that examine the connection between social business and personal values. Thus, this study aims to investigate the interest and intent of business administration students in working in social business and the relation with their personal values. The methodology was descriptive and quantitative, using a survey to collect data from business administration students from three universities in São Paulo. The results indicated that over a third of the respondents revealed the intention of working with social business in the short or long term, which can be considered a significant amount, considering that social businesses are more recent type of organizations. The variance analyses performed indicated no statistical evidence that, in this sample of data, there are differences in interest in social business between students that prioritize conservation values and students that prioritize openness to change values. On the other hand, there is statistical evidence to support that the interest in working with social business is different among respondents who prioritize values related to self-enhancement versus self-transcendence. It was possible to verify the positive trend in working with social business by students who prioritize values related to the self-transcendence dimension, including the motivational types Benevolence and Universalism. These results indicate the growing importance of values related to personal and society well being to the careers of individuals and reinforce the growing field of social business as well as the professional opportunities it offers.
