Erythrina velutina Willd. : potential distribution model in Sergipe state and seed analysis as tools for ex situ conservation

Souza, Juliana Lopes 24 February 2016 (has links)
The fragmentation of forests promotes the isolation of populations, the loss of genetic diversity of native species and the deterioration of its capacity to adapt to climate change. Even plants with high ecological plasticity are found in a situation of rarity in the Brazilian biomes, before the full knowledge of its properties and potentials, demanding urgent measures for its conservation. Nevertheless, for the establishment of this conservation, the knowledge about germination and tolerance to water restriction is fundamental. Erythrina velutina Willd. is a native species recommended for degraded areas recovery, found in the state of Sergipe in the biomes Atlantic Forest and Caatinga, in rareness in the area of Baixo São Francisco. In this context, it is proposed the identification of the geographic distribution of Erythrina velutina Willd. in Sergipe state through potential geographic distribution modelling technique and identify areas outside of Conservation Units of potential occurrence to with places for seed collecting. For the occurrence modelling, 395 registers of occurrence for the species and 38 variables were used and evaluated on the Maxent program. Using the model generated by the program, maps were created on the program ArcGis with the species occurrence prediction and contrasting against local land use were generated. Through the potential distribution model, 23 cities had the higher occurrence probabilities for E. velutina, and it was noticed that most part of the areas were occupied by pasture and the remaining forests were vastly fragmented, demanding measures to sample this diversity and to collect material for ex situ conservation. For the seeds analysis two seed lots from different origins were used, Sergipe state and Pernambuco state, stored since 2012 and 2008. The seeds were first evaluated through X Ray image analysis, after that the initial seed quality with the determination of morfometry, 1000 seeds weigh, germination on paper and on sand and electric conductivity. After this, the seeds were submitted to water restriction with polietilenoglycol (PEG 6000) at -0.8 MPa though 12, 24, 48 and 72 hours. Another part of the seeds lots were submitted to osmopriming though submersion in water and PEG at -0.8 MPa with constant airing during seven days. The germination percentage (%G), germination speed index (IVG), average germination time (TMG) and average germination speed (VMG) were estimated. There were no observed differences between the seed thought the X-Ray image analysis, both lots had full seeds, and then the initial quality analyses were held. The seeds from Pernambuco state were bigger and heavier, but had lower germination and vigor. For the water restriction, the seeds form Sergipe state had an increment on germination with the increased time under restriction and the seeds from Pernambuco had the hair germination value with 24 hours. With the restriction at 72 hours is possible to differentiate between the vigor of the two lots. The osmopriming results in a 11% increment in germination in low vigor seeds, such as the ones from Pernambuco with 11% increase.

Old Testament quotations within the context of Stephen's speech in Acts

Kim, Ju-Won 11 October 2007 (has links)
The aim of this study is to contribute to ongoing studies on the Acts of the Apostles, particularly in the area of the manner in which the NT writer quotes and interprets the OT. Many scholars have studied the use of the OT in the NT, though few have investigated the explicit quotations in Acts. The discussion confines itself to an examination of the nine explicit quotations in Stephen’s speech of Acts 7 which are identified with introductory formulae, i.e.: (7:3 from Gn 12:1; 7:6-7 from Gn 15:13-14; 7:27-28 from Ex 2:14; 7:33-34 from Ex 3:5, 7-8, 10; 7:35 from Ex 2:14; 7:37 from Dt 18:15; 7:40 from Ex 32:1, 23; 7:42-43 from Am 5:25-27; and 7:49-50 from Is 66:1-2). The study first seeks to situate the quoted texts in their original context, after which attention is paid to their appearance in Stephen’s discourse in Acts. Specific attention is given to the question of the presence of a possible independent Lukan Textvorlage which might underlie these quotations. To this end, firstly an overview of the differences between the pertinent OT textual traditions (e.g., MT, LXX, etc), and the NT is provided. This clearly establishes the nature of the changes and modifications present in Luke’s reading of his original material. Secondly and finally, the discussion seeks to provide an assessment of Luke’s theological and hermeneutical framework, reflected within the OT quotations of Stephen’s defense. Through the method referred to above, best depicted as consisting of text-historical, methodological and hermeneutical aspects (Steyn 1995:31-37), this study makes the following observations: Firstly, most of the explicit quotations in Ac 7 are not found anywhere else in the NT, except for the book of Acts. Only the 8th quotation from Am 5:25-27 in Ac 7:42-43 occurs in CD 7:14-15, but the quotation from CD differs from the meaning of the original context. It seems clear that these quotations are attributable to Luke himself via his LXX version - although it is possible that Luke might have used either the LXX or the MT in a few places. Secondly, when Luke relates the quoted texts from his LXX version of the OT to his new hearers, most of the changes that Luke made are likely to be expected within the change in context between that of Luke and the original source of the quotation. That is, the grammatical and stylistic changes were made by Luke, although the possibility of the changes being due to his Vorlage, should not altogether be excluded. Luke’s cautious theological and hermeneutical intention is also to be detected in Stephen’s speech. However, it is true that the original meaning is not significantly altered by these changes. At last, it may be assumed that Luke is the author of the changes to these quotations. Thirdly and finally, Luke’s theological intentions for applying the quotations are revealed as follows: God as the subject of the history has been constantly at work for his people. However, his people repetitively reject God’s servants and go against God’s words given through them. The climax of this pattern is found in the killing of Jesus and Stephen (Ac 7:52, 60). Nonetheless, God continues to be working to accomplish his salvific plan for his people, regardless of the hostile attitude of the Israelites toward God himself as well as his messengers. At last, it results in his salvific activity (endless love) ‘to the ends of the earth’ (Ac 1:8), viz., even to the Gentiles through his numerous witnesses again. This study comprises of seven chapters according to the flow of the narrative, which are designed as follows: the Abraham Story (chapter 2); the Joseph Story (chapter 3); the Moses Story (chapter 4); the Temple (chapter 5); Stephen’s Indictment (chapter 6). In addition, chapter 1 presents the introduction, and chapter 7 describes the synthesis and conclusion. / Thesis (PhD (New Testament Studies))--University of Pretoria, 2007. / New Testament Studies / PhD / unrestricted

Stanovení výše pojistného plnění za škodu na rodinném domě v Hronově způsobenou tíhou sněhu / Determination of the Amount of Insurance Settlements for the Damage Caused by Snow Loads on a Detached House in Hronov

Beránková, Martina January 2012 (has links)
The aim of my thesis is to outline the field of the insurance-claims settlement, to determine the amount of indemnity for the damage caused by the weight of snow, and also to clarify basic concepts of real estate appraisal. In the introduction I define basic concepts associated with that topic. Then I bring the reader into the field of real estate appraisal and I define basic concepts and appraisal methods and description. In the next part of my thesis I mention the principles of the insurance company´s claim settlement activity, the products related to property insurance, the person involved in the settlement, and last but not least I outline the claim settlement process itself. However, the point is not just to provide a plain list of all steps involved in the process but to give the reader a better idea how to proceed and what the basic concepts of the field are. In the final practical part I will focus precisely on the determination of the compensation for the damage casused by the weight of snow based on reasonable costs and for bringing the insured property to its original (operational) state.

L’adverbe au seizième siècle : l’adverbe et l’adverbialité dans la phrase imprimée du seizième siècle / The adverb and adverbiality in french printed language of the sixteenth-century

Kaiser, Louise-Adeline 03 June 2014 (has links)
This thesis describes sixteenth-century language, based on a corpus of French texts, from an adverbial perspective. The establishment of a textual corpus organized in sentences, according to syntax and to punctuation required interrogating the sentence, the punctuation and the history of the texts. The question of the adverbs was chosen as the criteria for a semantic, morphologic, and syntactic perspective. A survey of adverbial occurrences led to the hypothesis that adverbality, in the sentence, during the sixteenth century, could function, sometimes simultaneously, on different levels of syntactic hierarchy, levels that likewise present possibilities for adverbality, which was confirmed by a process of circumscription of an adverbial territory within the sentence. The adverbial occurrences taken from the corpus showed quite variable morphology. These many possibilities gave rise to a first stage of questioning that arose from the question of where in the syntactical hierarchy these occurrences were found. Although the reasons underpinning this analysis seemed dependent upon each adverbial occurrence, they proved in fact to be equally and logically present from one occurrence to another and from one morphology to another. This led us to think that a common denominator might be necessary for the entirety of adverbial occurrences. We propose a reconceptualization of these perspectives as logically connected, however disparate the results are as they appear in the language of the sixteenth-century. This leaves us with a reason to continue searching for a common denominator for the adverb and to conceive a logical union that constructs a total entity of adverbial occurrences.

Analýza interdisciplinárního přístupu k dětem s orofaciálními rozštěpy / Analysis of interdisciplinary approach to children with orofacial clefts

Novotná, Kateřina January 2021 (has links)
The topic of this diploma thesis is an analysis of interdisciplinary approach to children with orofacial clefts. The first chapter deals with theoretical base and defines terminology - communication, communication disabilites. It also defines anatomy and physiology of nasal cavity and oral cavity. The second chapter relates to issues of orofacial clefts. It describes classification, etiology, symptomatology, prevention, aestetic and psychosocial impacts and orofacial cleft children care. The third chapter deals with occurence of communication disabilites of children with orofacial clefts. It focuses on the definition of palatholaly, velopharyngeal inadequacy and it describes various linguistic levels and speech therapy and intervention. The fourth chapter is empiric and it deals with analysis of interdisciplinary approach to children with orofacial clefts. In research processes there were used scientific literature analysis, anamnestic data analysis and available specialized materials analysis. Based on all of these materials six case studies were created. Main goal of this empiric chapter was to analyze interdisciplinary approach to children with orofacial clefts. Partial goals were to analyze whether information provided by experts and doctors to parents of newborn children with orofacial cleft...
