A quantitative study on employees' perception of CSR and their organizational identification

Andersson, Gustav, Ebbvik Neuman, Jonas January 2019 (has links)
Aim: The aim of this thesis is to explain the relationships between employees' perception of different dimensions of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and their Organizational Identification (OID), as well as how employees job tenure affects the relationships.   Method: A moderated hierarchical multiple regression analysis was used to analyze the relationships between the variables. Data was collected via a survey and the sample consisted of 109 bank employees in Sweden.   Result & Conclusions: The result shows that there exists a statistically significant relationship between employees' perception of internal and external CSR and OID. Furthermore, the job tenure is not a statistically significant moderator between these relationships. However, tenure acts as a predictor of OID.   Contribution of the thesis: The thesis contributes to an increased knowledge of how CSR affects employees. Theoretically, the thesis supports previous research showing that employees' perception of CSR has a positive relationship with OID. Further theoretical advancements are that both internal and external CSR has a positive relationship with OID. We also clarify that employees’ tenure does not moderate the relationships between CSR dimensions and OID but rather that tenure is a predictor of OID. Practically, the thesis contributes with results that show that organizations should communicate both internal and external CSR to their employees, regardless of the tenure.   Suggestions for future research: The results of the thesis partly confirm previous research, but also show conflicting results, which suggests that further research is needed in the field. This involves including other moderator/mediator variables and also other independent variables. Further research should also use a probability sample where the respondents have the same chance of being selected and should also include other industries and sectors.

What motivates a student to do voluntary work? : A qualitative case study of Östgöta nation

Georganakis, Michail, Lazarov, Hristo January 2019 (has links)
The purpose of this thesis was to provide an understanding of the underlying motives behind students’ voluntary work at a student nation. It was carried out as a qualitative case study, where the focus was placed on Östgöta nation workers. Östgöta nation represents one of the thirteen student nations found in Uppsala, Sweden. The theoretical review draws upon four concepts, namely, intrinsic motivation, extrinsic motivation, organisational identification, and organisational citizenship behaviour. Consequently, these four concepts were used to construct a theoretical model, which served as a framework to understand what factors affect worker motives. Empirical material was collected through the conduct of one focus group and five individual interviews, and was subsequently analysed using a thematic approach. Our findings suggest that the underlying reasons behind a student’s work motives are their inherent need to socialize, as well as to belong to a social group. In addition, workers tend to develop a high degree of relatedness between one another. This, in turn, leads them to exhibit behaviour, where they over-perform and help each other. The presence of such behaviour in the workplace, in conjunction with non-monetary rewards, provides us with an understanding of how students motivate their decision of working in a student nation. In conclusion, we advocate student nations to foster altruism and solidarity within their work environment, which would improve their capability of securing and maintaining a sufficient workforce.

Sun, Pai-Yu Unknown Date (has links)
This paper mainly emphasizes on the effect of which the electronic government interface in Taiwan brings to the citizens, especially in the aspect of citizen-oriented services. Moreover, this article reviews the e-government services in other countries and their vary kinds of developing experiences as reference. Along with the quick development of the e-government service, the rank of Taiwan is always in the top list judged and rated by world-famous institutions. As a result, the government of Taiwan is willing to invest more to the plans of e-government which play an important role in the e-Taiwan project. Currently the plan attempts not only to renew the existing mainframe system, but also to build an “e-government service platform” to integrate services over different departments and resources. This platform is the core of Taiwan e-government plan. It can offer citizens vary and delicate information, more high level applications of service, and more interaction with Internet citizens. By utilizing Internet as a communication channel, it can implement the aim of governance more effectively. In the final part of this paper, it analyzes the influence of “e-service platform“ towards each level of government units. In addition, it discusses about how the e-government plan affects the software industry. Furthermore, how the policy about the platform influences the status of software industry is also mentioned in this paper. Once the policy is carried out, it is expected to be some serious impacts on domestic software industry. Therefore, this study also gives suggestions to software companies to make a preparation or reformation in advance.
