Este fato mostra a complexidade envolvida em mensurar um sistema que ainda n?o est? completamente definido. Muitos testes s?o popularizados para avaliar a sensibilidade da m?o e outros s?o descritos, embora nenhum tenha sido aceito, como padr?o-ouro, para avaliar a sensibilidade da m?o. Este estudo transversal tem como objetivo avaliar a reprodutibilidade interexaminador dos testes de monofilamentos de Semmes-Weinstein e Discrimina??o entre dois pontos est?tico e din?mico. Com tal finalidade, foram selecionados oitenta indiv?duos saud?veis com idade m?dia de 20,8 anos (desvio padr?o=3,5) que aceitaram participar do estudo. Esses indiv?duos foram submetidos ? aplica??o dos testes por dois examinadores distintos. Foi utilizado o coeficiente de kappa para avaliar a concord?ncia entre os examinadores para cada teste. Os testes de discrimina??o de dois pontos - est?tico e din?mico - n?o apresentaram uma concord?ncia estatisticamente significativa (p>0,05) e, no teste de monofilamentos, apesar do elevado percentual de concord?ncia entre os observadores, o c?lculo estat?stico do coeficiente kappa foi prejudicado pela aus?ncia de variabilidade dos dados. Pode-se concluir, ent?o, que os testes, em sua maioria, n?o apresentaram concord?ncia entre os examinadores, necessitando de novos estudos para confirmar estes achados

Depuis plusieurs années, l'équipe "Propagation & Imagerie" du Laboratoire de Mécanique et d'Acoustique UPR CNRS 7051 s'intéresse à la tomographie ultrasonore pour inverser le champ acoustique rayonné par une structure osseuse corticale, i.e. reconstruire une image numérique et paramétrique en coupe transversale 2D de la diaphyse des os longs. Les premiers résultats in vitro sur des échantillons adultes sont très encourageants et pertinents. Aujourd'hui, nous orientons nos travaux vers l'imagerie du tissu osseux chez l'enfant. Les dimensions, la constitution ou encore l'élasticité de ces "plus petits" os se prêtent bien aux approximations et modélisations envisagées. Lors de cette soutenance, je me propose de faire une synthèse des actions passées, présentes et futures sur ce sujet, en exposant l'intérêt de la méthode mais aussi ses limites, en présentant les stratégies mises en oeuvre pour l'inversion (méthodes expérimentales ou numériques basées sur l'approximation de Born et/ou Born distordu, et basées sur l'approximation par des objets canoniques - ICBA). J'exposerai nos travaux sur les développements expérimentaux, sur la propagation dans ces milieux complexes et sur les protocoles d'acquisition et de traitement des signaux que nous avons élaborés.

This dissertation investigates the ethnic labor market activities of the Latina/os. This study is important since regardless of their historical and increasing presence in the U.S., Latinos continue to find themselves disproportionately at the bottom of the social hierarchy (Saenz, Morales, and Ayala 2004). Furthermore, due to their lack of access, a significant amount of the members of this group are turning to employment in an ethnic niche. While there is no consensus as to what exactly constitutes an ethnic niche, a distinct characteristic is the co-ethnic nature of the work environments. Special focus is placed on how immigration status/nativity, gender, nativity, and skin color influences job search activities and wage differentials in the ethnic niche. While these factors have been found to impact the mainstream labor market, our knowledge of how these factors operate in a work environment with a dominant presence of co-ethnics is ambiguous. Utilizing data from the Multi-City Study of Urban Inequality (MCSUI), results show that Latina/os workers in co-ethnic niches receive fewer economic rewards than their ethnic counterparts in the general labor market. Furthermore, within the Latina/o population dark-skinned individuals are more likely to be employed in ethnic niches while the lighter-skinned are more likely to be employed in the general labor market. When examining the stratification factors of immigration/nativity status, gender, and skin color, in addition to social networks, findings show that these stratification factors operate in a similar fashion in ethnic niches as they do in more mainstream labor markets. Thus these findings question the presumably protective work environment of ethnic niches.

Denna studie undersöker bevakningen av Paralympics och hur den har förändrats i de svenska dagstidningarna Dagens Nyheter och Aftonbladet, från det första mästerskapet i Rom 1960 till det senaste mästerskapet i London 2012. Studien omfattar kvantitativ innehållsanalys såväl som kvalitativ textanalys. Avsikten med den kvantitativa delstudien är att undersöka omfånget av Paralympics-bevakningen i de valda tidningarna och hur det har förändrats under den valda tidsperioden. Avsikten med den kvalitativa delstudien är att undersöka hur språket och attityden gentemot Paralympics och dess deltagare har förändrats över tid. Den kvalitativa undersökningen görs med stöd av Michel Foucaults normaliseringsteori och Umberto Ecos receptionsteori. Resultatet av den kvantitativa delstudien visar att mediebevakningen, med några få avvikelser, har ökat stadigt från 1960 till 2012. Den kvalitativa delstudien visar att attityderna gentemot Paralympics och dess deltagare överlag har förbättrats. Detta leder till slutsatsen att det finns goda förutsättningar för en mer omfattande och en mer seriös bevakning av Paralympics i framtiden.

<p>The content of this report describes a bachelor thesis performed on commission by Cybercom Sweden West. The report describes techniques, methods and development tools used during the project. The purpose of this project is to demonstrate the usefulness with a new Bluetooth profile called Medical Device Profile (MDP) on the Medica trade fair 14-11-2007. The MDP profile that will be released in turn of the ear 07/08 is primarily intended to be used in medical devices.The demonstration is to be made by building a demonstrator consisting of an application running on a smartphone with Bluetooth abilities. The application will handle the Bluetooth connection between the smartphone and the oximeter, the data encryption and other functionalities and presenting the figures received form the oximeter in a Graphical User Interface (GUI).The final demonstrator consists of a smartphone application programmed in Symbian C++, which communicates with the oximeter using the Bluetooth Serial Port Profile (SPP). The application runs on UIQ 3.0 based smartphones and displays heart rate and %SpO2 (The percentage of oxygen saturation in blood), which the application receives from the oximeter.The original idea was to use the MDP profile by porting Cybercom's C version of the MDP to Symbian OS for the Bluetooth communication, depending on various factors described more in detail inside the report this was not done. The purpose of the project was still reached, even though another profile then MDP was used. This was done by replacing the considered oximeter for an older version which is using the SPP. By using SPP the same result will be demonstrated but with an older technique, and this will achieve the same result on Medica trade fair. The project was demonstrated on Medica with a successful result.</p>
