Development of Unibap's demonstration system : Creating an application for Unibap's space computer solutions demonstration system

Leth, Agnes, Lodin, Ellen January 2024 (has links)
The purpose of the project is to develop a demo system for the satellite computer company Uni-bap. This demo system is used by the sales team at business fairs to showcase the potential andcapabilities of Unibap’s solutions. However, the current demo system lacks the visual appeal anduser-friendliness desired by the sales team. Our task is to address these shortcomings by devel-oping an application that is both educational and user-friendly. Additionally, the project involvesconstructing a demo box for the computer running our application to enhance its portability andensure efficient heat management.Through internal and external interviews with Unibap’s employees and other industry experts, weformulated the aims and goals of the project. The results included designing a Graphical UserInterface (GUI) for the demo system. Although we did not have time to implement all the plannedfeatures, the results were positive in terms of design and the implementations achieved so far. Theconstruction of the demo box was also successful, enhancing the system’s portability and heatmanagement. Further improvements are suggested to make the GUI even more user-friendly and educational.

Nsengiyumva, Guilin January 2024 (has links)

Gymnasiets mål och högskolans förväntningar i matematik / Secondary School’s Goals and University’s Expectations in Mathematics

Mnich, Michal January 2024 (has links)
The drop-off rate from Swedish engineering education is worryingly high, at about 50 %. The reason is commonly stated as pertaining to mathematics courses within the programmes. Engineering students are often not prepared well enough to handle the increased abstraction level and requirements, as compared to mathematics courses in Swedish upper secondary school. Research has shown that there are indeed differences in mathematics between secondary and tertiary education which are likely to cause problems for unprepared students. This study aims to identify some specific issues that students face during the transition and propose to upper secondary school math teachers ways of easing the transition for their students. Four semistructured interviews were carried out with university math teachers in order to gather insight about university expectations and areas of mathematics where the new students’ prior knowledge is not satisfactory. The findings were then used to analyze the course syllabus and a textbook in the course Mathematics 4. Results indicate there are several perspectives on the transition problem and several reasons for the differences between the education levels. Some differences are created due to different views on mathematics as a subject. Other differences are explained by lacking correspondence between the textbook, the course syllabus and university expectations. Four possible ways of lessening the transition problem are proposed for upper secondary school teachers: (1) using well-planned homework, (2) working with different mathematical texts, (3) controlling the availability of calculators and formula sheets and (4) maintaining contact and cooperation with a university.

Pedro Pereira Sarmento 25 July 2019 (has links)
Historically, several points of contact are known between music and concepts in the areas of scientific study. Soundscape Generation Using Web Audio Archives

Paulo Jorge Fernandes Teixeira 14 August 2019 (has links)
A aplicação protótipo, MScaper, implementa o método no ambiente Ableton Live. / The large and growing archives of audio content on the web have been transforming the sound design practice. In this context, sampling -- a fundamental sound design tool -- has shifted from mechanical recording to the realms of the copying and cutting on the computer. To effectively browse these large archives and retrieve content became a well-identified problem in Music Information Retrieval, namely through the adoption of audio content-based methodologies. Despite its robustness and effectiveness, current technological solutions rely mostly on (statistical) signal processing methods, whose terminology do attain a level of user-centered explanatory adequacy. This dissertation advances a novel semantically-oriented strategy for browsing and retrieving audio content, in particular, environmental sounds, from large web audio archives. Ultimately, we aim to streamline the retrieval of user-defined queries to foster a fluid generation of soundscapes. In our work, querying web audio archives is done by affective dimensions that relate to emotional states (e.g., low arousal and low valence) and semantic audio source descriptions (e.g., rain). To this end, we map human annotations of affective dimensions to spectral audio-content descriptions extracted from the signal content. Retrieving new sounds from web archives is then made by specifying a query which combines a point in a 2-dimensional affective plane and semantic tags. A prototype application, MScaper, implements the method in the Ableton Live environment. An evaluation of our research assesses the perceptual soundness of the spectral audio-content descriptors in capturing affective dimensions and the usability of MScaper. The results show that spectral audio features significantly capture affective dimensions and that MScaper has been perceived by expert-users as having excellent usability.
