Patienters upplevelser av det akuta omhändertagandet / Patients’ experiences of emergency care

Pålsson, Cecilia, Wedin, Sara January 2010 (has links)
This requires knowledge of the normal processes going and what pathological condition that may arise in order to provide proper care. The aim of our study was to illuminate patients 'experiences of nurses' responses in the acute care. The study was carried out based on a literature study in which 13 articles were analyzed. The results showed that patients perceived technical competence as the most important in the initial management. In a slightly later stage experienced a more informal, more personal approach with more focus on the mental health needs as important. Feeling of having lost control, fear of what is to come, to be left alone was described consistently by patients. They thought it was important to feel involved, that the nurse was there for the patient, that they were given information and that they were seen as an individual with individual needs. Research on this topic is limited so more research in this area is needed. Also research how the nurse feels that she responds to patients and why she does it would have been interesting to investigate and hopefully contributed to increasing the quality of nursing care in the emergency meeting.</p>

Zetterberg, Camilla January 2006 (has links)
<p>Elderly patients experiences of palliative care – a rewire</p><p>The purpose of this paper was to study elderly patient’s experience of palliative care with present knowledge as starting point. The questions were; what criteria do the elderly, dying person think is most important to fulfill in palliative care? and how satisfied is the elderly, dying person with the palliative care that are giving to him/her? The information were collected by a data based search trough science magazines and technical literature. Four relevant studies were found; Costello (2001), Heyland (2005), Wilson (1999) and Formiga (2004). Results in this studies show that the communication between patients, physicians and nurses need to improve. The elderly patients demands better, straighter and clearer information from the nurses and physicians, especially about their condition. The elderly demands more emotional and spiritual support from the health care and people with chronic diseases like COPD and CHF seems to bee less satisfied with palliative care then those with cancer. The reason for this can bee that, this group of patients is less likely to not being offered palliative care at all, much because it is harder for the physicians to set a proper medical prognosis.</p><p>Keywords: palliative care, elderly, patient- satisfaction</p>

Bemötande på en akutmottagning

Ewald, Ann-Chatrine, Ljungdahl, Carina January 2011 (has links)
Daily many patients seek an emergency department; these patients are often worried and anxious. The aim of this literature review was to describe critical aspects of reception among other things, current information, security and confirmations to patients at an emergency department. To answer the aim 13 scientific articles were analyzed and scrutinized. The results showed that information about the estimated waiting time were absent in several cases. Furthermore, it also demonstrated that many patients felt unsafe since they meant they were not being confirmed as individuals. To be given the possibility to be involved in their own care was considered important and created a sense of confirmation. The results of this study showed that nurses in the emergency department may provide security and confirmation to the patient by applying simple manners, such as give information and take their time to inform and involve patients in their own care. These arrangements may lead to increased satisfaction among patients seeking an emergency department.
