\'Temei a Deus, honrai ao Rei\': revista A Seara e os (des)caminhos do debate sobre a relação igreja/política na imprensa assembleiana (1956-1980) / Fear God, honor the King: A Seara magazine and the ways of the debate about the relationship Church/Political on Assembly of God press (1956-1980)

André Dioney Fonseca 06 February 2017 (has links)
This thesis analyses the ways of the debate about the relationship involving church/politic on the A Seara magazine, pressed by Casa Publicadora das Assembleias de Deus (CPAD), between the years of 1956 and 1980. It starts with an analytical proposal in which the periodic press, far from being a mere repository of information that can be isolated from all the elements that support them, presents itself as a documental corpus whose complexity requires a multidirectional view capable of understanding that each text present in the pages of a serial publication results from an intricate set of interests that permeates the writers and/or influence groups. So, in this work, with the purpose of going beyond the image of A Seara as a message carrier that expressed the official position of the Assembly of God church on politics, we opted for a model of analysis that seeks to understand how the internal dynamics of the editorial staff of this magazine influenced the approach of this controversial subject that, in some cases, received interpretations that distanced themselves from the convictions signed by the majority wing of the high pastorate. In order to demonstrate this dynamic, all the selected texts that dealt with the theme \"politics\" in A Seara were analyzed considering the editorial projects of the different groups that alternated in the writing of this periodical in more than two decades of circulation. It is evident from this perspective that A Seara\'s distinct positions on the church/political relationship were directly linked to the specific demands of its editors and not to an \"institutional\" view of the Assembly of God about a complex subject and on which it was difficult to reach consensus.

The research starts based on the case Lendas de Ex?, a judicial case which took place at Pedro Adami Municipal School, in C?rrego do Ouro, in the mountain region of Maca?, Rio de Janeiro. The methodology chosen was the qualitative one, from the study of this judicial process ? addressed as a meaningful sampling of the tensions between Christians and the curricular demands of law 10.639/03 ?, we intend, through the concept of reproduction by Pierre Bourdieu, to diagnose the recurrences of racial prejudice patterns through religious intolerance, in a context in which the politicization of the black identity is conjuncturally unidimensionalized by biases of ethnicization focused on afro-religious identity references that dispute the school curriculum as a place of right of cultural and political expression of Afrodescendence and social dignity. Once this critical-diagnostic stage has been accomplished, we intend to organize themed topics as a glossary that helps the basic education teacher deal with the curricular effects of the change brought by law 10.639/03. The purpose of this research is the creation of the critical guide for pedagogical support to teachers of the second segment of basic education, which allows the approach of Afro-Brazilian religions in classroom. The choice of the critical guide is based on the empirical finding of the obstacles found in school and the need for didactic material that ease such approach. The body of this research itself will become the critical guide, complemented by a glossary of recurring terms in conflict situations involving disputes between Christians and Afro-Brazilian religions. The hypothesis of this research is that the teaching of history, culture and Afro-Brazilian religions in schools has been hampered both by the Christian fundamentalism in neo- pentecostal version and the one-dimensional essentialist ethnicization of the black identity in Brazil by the bias of afro-religiosity, which has given the tone of the contemporary agenda of policies of political and institutional visibility of the black movement, creating a smokescreen over the singularity and multidimensional complexity of the History of Black people and Racism in Brazil itself, which also composes the critical focus of the potential curricular effects of law 10.639/03. Thus, it will be important that a guide aimed at teachers of public basic education in Rio de Janeiro includes a study of possibilities of law 10.639/03 beyond the two-dimensional approach which limits its practical effects as a result of the tension ?neo- pentecostalism? vs. ?afro-religiosity?, because what is at issue is a historic and ethnical- citizen learning that goes beyond cohabitation or silencing imposed by the force of law.

Pentecost, process, and power : a critical comparison of Concursus in Operational Pentecostal-Charismatic Theology and Philosophical Process-Relational Theology

Reichard, Joshua David January 2010 (has links)
This doctoral thesis comprises a critical comparison of the theme of concursus, the way in which God and humanity interact, in the Pentecostal-Charismatic and Process-Relational traditions. The comparison is literature-based / similarities and differences in the theological literature of each tradition are compared in order to determine the extent of compatibilities and incompatibilities. The hypothesis is that similarities in the literature sufficiently leverage differences. The first chapter includes a statement of the problem, namely that the global expansion of the Pentecostal-Charismatic movements necessitates interaction with more academically and philosophically oriented theological traditions such as Process- Relational theology. The second chapter comprises an historical survey of the Pentecostal-Charismatic movements, including key dogmas and practices. Chapter three comprises an historical survey of Process-Relational theology, including its philosophical, metaphysical, and scientific orientations. Seminal Process- Relational theists such as Whitehead, Hartshorne, and Cobb are surveyed. Chapter four consists of a broad historical survey of the theological theme of concursus, including the notions of causation, free will, and determinism in both philosophy and theology. Further, the fourth chapter includes a broad historical survey of pneumatology, which is framed as the basis for a comparison of concursus. Chapters five and six comprise surveys of concursus in the Pentecostal- Charismatic and Process-Relational traditions respectively. Chapter seven entails an extensive analysis of differences and synthesis of similarities between the Pentecostal-Charismatic and Process-Relational notions of concursus. Four differences and four similarities are identified. Differences and similarities are ranked and compared for compatibility...
