Uppsatsen avser studera vilken påverkan EU har haft på Sverige vad gäller anskaffning avförsvarsmateriel. Vinklingen har varit en studie av förmågan strategisk flygtransport med de konkretafrågeställningarna: Vilka motiv framläggs i Sverige gällande anskaffning av strategisk flygtransport och hurförhåller sig svensk inriktning vad gäller anskaffning av strategiskt flygtransport gentemot den inriktning som EUhar genom EDA? Genom att studera officiella dokument och även jämföra Försvarsmaktens perspektivplaneringoch EDA:s LTV analyseras vilka motiv som framförs och vilken samstämmighet det finns mellan Sverige och EU.Avslutningsvis diskuteras om det finns någon problematik med den europeiseringsprocess som sker. För att fåförklaringar till hur de eventuella beroendena har kommit till uttryck har teorin runt europeisering använts, medfokus på mekanismer för ”top-down” och ”bottom-up”. Resultatet av studien visar att behovet har uppstått iSverige som ett resultat av påverkan från EU men vad gäller realiseringen av förmågan har Sverige visat en vissoavhängighet från EU. Samstämmigheten mellan de båda framtidsvisionerna har varit stor. Den diskrepans somhittats har kunnat återknytas till de svenska motiv som lett till realiseringen av flygtransportförmåga genommultinationellt inköp av C 17. / This essay aims to study to what degree the EU has influenced Sweden in terms of defence equipmentprocurement by examining the case of strategic air transport. The questions posed are: What motives are put forwardin Sweden concerning the procurement of strategic air transport and how do Swedish and EU directives about thefuture of strategic air transport, relate to each other? Through a study of official documents and by comparingSwedish and EU visions, the stated motives and the concurrence of the visions are analysed. By way of conclusionthere is a discussion about whether or not there may be any future problems with the Europeanization process. Tointerpret the results of the study the theory of Europeanization is used, focusing on top-down and bottom-upmechanisms. The results show that Swedish requirements are influenced by the EU but in realisation its owncapability Sweden has showed a certain independence. The two visions appear to a large extent to be consistent.
