Esta tese de doutorado apresenta como objetivo analisar a transformação que ocorre, no período clássico e no moderno, das formas: balada, canção, ode e soneto, da poesia em Língua Portuguesa, considerando os conceitos estabelecidos pela tradição poética. Essa transformação é observada sob o aspecto fonoestilístico, com ênfase na sonoridade que compõe os poemas: traços fonológicos, rimas, ritmo e metro. Destaque-se ainda que o foco será o estudo dessas características sonoras, a sua expressividade e como se desenvolve a combinação desses elementos, na constituição do(s) sentido(s), no interior dos poemas. / The present PhD thesis aims at analyzing the changes that occur in the classical and modern periods on some forms such as: ballade, song, ode and sonnet of the poetry in Portuguese. For this it was taken into consideration the established concepts which guide the poetry tradition. The transformation mentioned above is seen from the phonostylistics point of view with emphasis in the following sonority features, which constitute the poems: phonological traces, rhymes, rhythm and meter. It is relevant to mention that the focus given will be the study of such sonority features, the expressiveness presented by them and how the combinations of these elements are developed so as to achieve the constitution of the meaning(s) within the poems.

Ce travail interroge les relations entre langue écrite et langue orale et les effets de la représentation de l’oralité et du dialecte dans l’écriture littéraire. Plus spécifiquement, il établit un cadre théorique d’analyse stylistique permettant de faire émerger la poétique du parler populaire dans l’œuvre de Barrytown de Roddy Doyle. Cette étude s’articule autour de trois chapitres. Les deux premiers sont à visée théorique, et ont pour objectif de mettre en place les outils stylistiques, linguistiques et littéraires à partir desquels l’étude du corpus est abordée. Ainsi, après un retour diachronique et synchronique sur les rapports qu’entretiennent les deux media de communication orale et écrite, nous établissons un cadre d’analyse stylistique de la représentation de l’oralité et du dialecte dans la littérature. Nous étudions ensuite cette problématique plus spécifiquement dans le contexte irlandais, puisque la littérature et la culture irlandaises sont marquées par un la tradition orale. Cela nous conduit à une description détaillée du dialecte anglais-irlandais sous l’angle de la grammaire, du lexique et de l’accent. Nous abordons enfin les effets de la représentation de l’oralité et de l’irlandité dans l’œuvre barrytownienne de Roddy Doyle et faisons émerger la poétique du parler populaire qui l’anime. / This study focuses on the relations between spoken and written language and on the effects created by the representation of orality and dialect in literary writing. More specifically, it proposes a theoretical framework of stylistic analysis which allows for the study of the poetics of popular language in Roddy Doyle’s Barrytown novels. This study is divided into three chapters. The first two chapters aim to define the stylistic, linguistic and literary tools that are used in the third chapter in order to carry out the corpus analysis. This study starts with a diachronic and a synchronic overview of the relationship between the oral and written media of communication. A workable framework for the stylistic analysis of the representation of orality and dialect in literature is then established. The second chapter considers this issue in an Irish context. Indeed, a strong oral tradition has always been present in Ireland and its impact is still felt in literature and culture. The linguistic situation in Ireland is studied from the point of view of grammar, lexicon and accent. Finally, the third chapter applies the framework previously presented and explores the effects created by the representation of orality and Irishness in Roddy Doyle’s Barrytown novels. It finally exposes the poetics of popular language.

Three historic moments will be considered: the initial moment of TV newscasting (1968), the intermediary moment (1980) and the present moment (2005). The term vocal gesture is used herewith to define the elements of vocal dynamics and vocal quality, that is, those elements which constitute the prosody of the languages and their interaction with the phonic segments. The term body gesture is used to refer to the bodily movements connected to vocal expression. The analysis of vocal gestures is anchored in Experimental Phonetics and the analysis of body gestures is based on communicative approaches of kinesthetic nature. The methodological procedures of data analysis involve the extraction of the acoustic parameters of duration and f0 of phonic segments, syllables and GNPC. The analysis of body gestures involved capturing vídeo images which show sequences of postural movements of the hands and face. The presence or absence of concomitant vocal and body gestures is analysed in relation to the placement of prominence and pauses by TV newscasters. This study points to stylistic changes in the format of TV newscasting over the last decades. Such evolution reflects the tendency towards shifting from a reading style heavily influenced by the spelling of words and minimized bodily gestuality to a more expressive style of oral narration of facts. This tendency may be interpreted as a reflex of the media´s effort to establish a connection with its viewers / Esta pesquisa tem como objetivo analisar, nas narrações dos apresentadores de telejornais, a relação entre os gestos vocais e corporais, além de investigar a evolução ocorrida, em termos estilísticos, nesse tipo de gênero, interpretando-a em função das especificidades do momento histórico-social. Serão considerados três momentos históricos: o momento inicial do telejornalismo (1968), o momento intermediário (1980) e o momento atual (2005). O termo gesto vocal é aqui utilizado para designar os elementos da dinâmica e da qualidade vocais, ou seja, os que constituem a prosódia das línguas em sua interação com os segmentos fônicos. O termo gesto corporal é usado para indicar os movimentos do corpo que acompanham a expressão vocal. A análise dos gestos vocais é ancorada na Fonética Experimental e a dos gestos corporais nas abordagens comunicativas de natureza cinésica. Os procedimentos metodológicos de análise dos dados englobam a extração dos valores dos parâmetros acústicos de duração e freqüência fundamental de segmentos fônicos, sílabas e unidades vogal-vogal (V-V). A análise dos gestos corporais consistiu na captura de imagens de vídeo que demonstram seqüências de movimentos posturais, das mãos e da face. A presença ou ausência de co-ocorrência entre gestos vocais e corporais é abordada em relação à atribuição das ênfases e pausas dadas pelos apresentadores de telejornal. Por meio dessa análise, constatam-se alterações estilísticas na forma de apresentação dos telejornais ao longo das décadas. Essa evolução reflete uma tendência de afastamento do estilo de leitura, influenciada pela escrita das palavras e gestualidade corporal minimizada para um estilo de narração oral dos fatos, tendência essa interpretada como reflexo do esforço da mídia no estabelecimento de interlocução com o público
