A Study of Robert Schumann¡qWaldszenen, op.82¡r

Tsai, Shu-Fei 13 February 2012 (has links)
Robert Schumann is one of the greatest representatives of Germany Romanticism music in the early nineteenth century. As a composer, he had written many types of works, including piano music, vocal music, symphony, concerto and chamber music; Schumann was also a music critic. He frequently published his personal viewpoints and commentaries on music with different pseudonyms in Neue Zeitschrift für Musik, a magazine founded by himself. Piano music plays a vital role in Schumann¡¦s music creation. To Schumann, it is literature that inspires his creativity. Therefore, he prefers to combine his music with literal works. Take Schumann¡¦s Waldszenen op. 82, for example, the composer used poems to help elaborate the great piece. The thesis sets out from the introduction of Schumann¡¦s biography, and then further explores the features of Schumann¡¦s piano music in different phases, the development of his Characteristic piece, and the interrelationship between Schumann¡¦s piano music and literature. Besides, the motive and background of writting Waldszenen is mentioned, and the poetic imagery in Waldszenen is clearly discussed. Last, the composing method and technique of this great work will be analyzed.

A study on suppression of wear effect for polishing tool: a rock-and-roll motion planning

Hsu, Sheng-po 03 August 2006 (has links)
A strategy was proposed to suppress the wear effect of tool in a polishing process. So, machining rate of work pieces in polishing process would keep constant. With this strategy applied to HDP, stable machining rate will bring more advantaged for precision engineering. This study mainly discussed by two parts. First, the planning of the rock-and-roll motion and a wear analysis for tools is talked about. Second is discussing about experiment further. In first part, in order to increase tool¡¦s lifetime, expanding tool wear region by rock-and-roll motion is adopted. Meanwhile, simulate the wear behavior to develop a method of removing tool¡¦s materials in expectant form. In second part, there are two targets to compare with first part, one is the effect of planning of tool¡¦s materials removing and the other is the improvement of suppressive wear effect for polishing tool and stabilizing removal rate of work pieces in rock-and-roll motion. The result of experiments shown that planning of tool¡¦s materials removing is working, the radius of curvature and roughness of tool is nearly stable, and there are some effects in removal rate on work pieces. The result of experiment of rock-and-roll motion verified that the wear theorem for tools and prove improvement of wear is working. So, the goal of suppression of wear effect for polishing tool by expanding tool wear region by rock-and-roll motion is feasible.

From the Wreckage

Carter, Tania 21 May 2013 (has links)
This thesis is an investigation of processes involved in the praxis of Tseil-Waututh knowledge systems, stemming from the longhouse and its value to people of Tsleil-Waututh nation in structure and to people in content and delivery. I journeyed through the process of writing a performance from a dance, the Swan Dance. It was under Len George's care and through this process that I learned to reflect and thus, revalue my body, mind and heart. I learned to love song and sound and to sense my relatives unconscious being, here in Toronto. I felt a sense of community, consciously, unprecedented in my adult life, except in one-on-one relations with siblings and my mother and in reflection. In reflection, I could not name this process, this understanding, but in spurts of words and recollections. It is in this light that the value of Tsleil-Waututh dance and its process of learning came. I turned the light onto this process and the light reflected back onto me, its birth and journey and my participation inside of it. It has inspired a writer to help stop the violence against women, by showing a purpose to, through a belief in tradition. Out emerged a people, warm and beautiful, dancing and singing and speaking. / Seabird Island Band, the Ontario Federation of Friendships Centres.

Three Meditations on the Philosophy of Boethius

January 2013 (has links)
abstract: Three Meditations on the Philosophy of Boethius is a musical piece for guitar, piano interior, and computer. Each of the three movements, or meditations, reflects one level of music according to the medieval philosopher Boethius: Musica Mundana, Musica Humana, and Musica Instrumentalis. From spatial aspects, through the human element, to letting sound evolve freely, different movements revolve around different sounds and sound producing techniques. / Dissertation/Thesis / M.M. Jindřich Feld : Analysis of Concert Piece For Accordion

Řehák, Milan January 2017 (has links)
This thesis intends to illustrate the music language presented in Jindřich Feld’s compositions for accordion. Jindřich Feld (1925-2007) was a very important Czech composer of the second half of the 20th century. As the best example of this music language, I have chosen his “Concert Piece For Accordion” which is certainly one of the most respected accordion compositions ever written. I have always appreciated the music of Jindřich Feld, which is the reason why I decided to write about him and his composition. In this thesis, I focused mainly on an insight into the form and style of “Concert Piece”. Most of my comments and analyses come from my personal experience and from my perspective as an interpreter. This composition, most likely, has not been performed in Sweden before, or it is not well-know at least. I hope that my thesis will help other accordionists and musicians to understand Feld’s music, and contribute to better and more frequent performances of his accordion music.
