WHO ARE YOU?

Faseeh, Saleem January 2011 (has links)
The sculptural forms produced on a knitting machine reveal the existence of human body. The installation induces sensation, questions the sense of absence, though differentiating between the Male and Female identity. The work evokes the evolution of human life exposing the secret of unborn, the journey of gender origin. No doubt we are born with gender specific features, but still one is constrained to investigate the individuality. / Program: Master Programme in Fashion and Textile Design

A natureza eloquente - um estudo sobre o cinema de Eugène Green / The eloquent nature - a study of Eugène Green\'s films

Faissol, Pedro de Andrade Lima 27 September 2013 (has links)
This dissertation is a study of Eugène Green\'s films. Its structure will be divided according to what we suppose to be - in terms of the spectator\'s reception - the central aspect of his films: on one hand, Green will lead the spectator to establish with the film a connection based on the \"reading\"; on the other hand, a connection based on the \"experience\". This important distinction will be developed throughout the analysis of ten selected scenes from Green\'s first two feature films: Toutes les nuits (2001) in the first chapter, and Le Monde vivant (2003) in the second. At the end of the dissertation, a final question will be brought to light by putting together both films.

The Necessity of Presence and Play

Darland, Jeff, II 01 January 2019 (has links)
Theater programs that focus solely on the influence of the Stanislavski system are neglecting students’ opportunity to experience additional approaches to performance study that focus more readily on the sensations of the human body and the practices of improvisation to prepare actors to be able to stay present and respond truthfully within any moment. The pedagogical work of Jacques Copeau and Jacques Lecoq, which relies on improvisation, paired with more recent stylings of improv teachers such as Viola Spolin, Keith Johnstone, and Del Close reignite a modern sensation of play, found uninhibited in the world of nature, such as the expressive freedoms found in infants. These techniques bring out a truthful style of performance that is tailored to the individual, instead of tailoring the individual to the style. Not only are these performance methodologies useful to the performance artist, but they also hold proven in communities outside of the arts, helping people understand different perspectives, and improve their compacity for empathy and communication.

The waiting room: an art investigation of site in abeyance

Vickers, Sharon Unknown Date (has links)
This art project explores issues of unoccupied space. In particular, the project concerns itself with temporal aspects of site and issues of past, present and potential usage. This space, otherwise inert, invites activation by the spectator's psychological projections. This projected occupation calls on redolence of the past, memory and a sense of the utility of the site.Based on imagery evidence and personal remembered experience, the spectator provides context forthis site. The project uses the painting process to open up areas of sensibility around personal and remembered experience. The thesis is constituted as practice-based work, 80%, accompanied by an exegesis, 20%.

Svenska FN- förbundet - En jämställd organisation? : En studie om jämställdheten inom en frivilligorganisation i Sverige

Nyberg, Moa January 2008 (has links)

UN is a non-governmental organization which should promote gender equality within the organization. It is an organization which is based on human rights and claims that in order to solve the problem of poverty, famine and development we need to promote women’s status. In Sweden there is a strong tradition of gender balanced representation at the governmental level and this perspective raise the question if there is a spill-over effect to the civil society as in the case of a non-governmental organization. This makes it interesting to look at if a non-governmental organization which is not under state control work for gender equality within their own organization. What does the gender equality pattern look like in a sphere that is not controlled by the government? Does it work by itself? The main purpose of this thesis is therefore to examine opinions about the gender balance within the Swedish UN-movement.

In order to understand and analyse the gender equality context within UN, interwievs with chairmens for each UN-district in Sweden was conducted and it was found that there was no active promotion of this issue within the organization. Instead, the survey showed that the promotion of gender equality issues was directed towards other societys. To a certain extent it was also shown that women’s understanding of UN as a gender equal organization was less prominent than men’s understanding. This thesis concluded therefore that gender equality does not work by itself in the civil sphere. Instead, it seems as if work for gender balance needs directive and control from the government in order to function.

Key words: Gender equality, FN, feminism, politics of presence, non-governmental organizations.

Social Presence, Satisfaction, and Perceived Learning of RN-to-BSN Students in Web-Based Nursing Courses

Cobb, Susan 05 June 2008 (has links)
While the development of online education has been progressing rapidly, further evaluation research is needed (Atack and Rankin, 2002; Halter et al., 2006). There is a need for further research on nursing students' experiences and satisfaction with online education, and correlating factors to promote the quality of online learning. Social presence is one factor that has been shown to affect outcomes such as satisfaction and perceived learning in online courses (Gunawardena and Zittle, 1997).
The purpose of this study was to assess social presence in online nursing courses and its relationship to student satisfaction and perceived learning. The theoretical framework for the study was the Framework for Assessing Outcomes in Web-based Nursing Courses (Billings, 2000). A descriptive, correlational study design was used. The study instrument was a 34-item questionnaire administered via the Internet and consisting of the Social Presence Scale and the Satisfaction Scale (Gunawardena and Zittle, 1997), and demographic questions. Subjects in the study were 128 students in an online RN-to-BSN program at one college in the northeastern United States who were taking an online nursing course during the study term. Results indicated that there was a strong relationship between overall satisfaction and overall social presence (rs = .63, p < .001)) and instructor performance (rs = .46, p < .001). Four sub-domains of social presence were identified: overall comfort with online and computer-mediated (CMC) communication, communication with CMC and the online environment, comfort and community of CMC/online environment, and attitudes toward CMC/online communication. Four sub-domains of satisfaction were identified: general satisfaction, usefulness of course, learning from course, and stimulation and ongoing learning. All sub-domains of social presence correlated highly (rs = .61 - .72, p < .001) with the satisfaction sub-domains except the communication factor which correlated to a lesser degree (rs = .39 - .45, p < .001). There was a strong relationship between perceived learning and social presence (rs = .61, p < .001) and with comfort with the online course (rs = .66, p < .001). Overall social presence, instructor performance, and the sub-domains of social presence predicted a significant amount (p < .001) of total variance in overall satisfaction and perceived learning. No significant relationships were found between the demographic factors and overall social presence or perceived learning. Females had significantly higher scores on the communication factor (p = .02) and subjects with more online course experience found the courses more useful (p = .04). / School of Nursing / Nursing / PhD / Dissertation

The Effects of Having a Presence in Social Media : Swedish advertising agencies' awareness of social media and its contributing opportunities and risks

Yaro, Walita, Asmar, Adissa, von jahf, Heidi January 2013 (has links)
Emerging from traditional marketing platforms in the early millennium is a brand new marketing form called social media. Having a presence in social media is a growing part of marketing communication and it gives companies a voice and a means to converse with their existing and prospective customers. Social media is starting to become a great tool for businesses to develop and maintain strong relationships with customers and is therefore a vital platform for organizations to communicate with their customers. Having a presence in social media will require businesses to be aware of the opportunities and risks that come with using the medium. Not knowing how to use the new channels and the accompanying technique while launching different social media channels can be highly unsuccessful for the business. Learning how to communicate with customers when using social media channels is therefore crucial for a business‟ success in that area. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of having a presence in social media for business-to-business companies, by focusing on the opportunities and risks. Three research questions are developed, based on the literature review. A deductive approach has been applied followed by a qualitative research with a semi-structured form, focusing on the advertising industry. Furthermore, a case study strategy has been carried out with four different advertising agencies located in Sweden. This study reveals that industry professionals believe that social media is a vital platform for brands to be present in because it allows them to keep contact with current and potential customers. They believe in the magnitude of being able to communicate and interact with people online and how that interaction can lead to new strong relationships. Furthermore, the research shows that advertising agencies have a deep understanding of what a social media can bring them in terms of creating prosperity for their businesses and generate awareness towards their brands and their work. Finally, the study terminates that having a presence in social media can provide the agencies with more positive than negative effects by gaining a great deal of success and resulting in greater campaign and brand awareness.
