Availability Management In Configure-to-order Manufacturing Systems

Yontem, Huseyin Erdem 01 December 2009 (has links) (PDF)
AVAILABILITY MANAGEMENT IN CONFIGURE-TO-ORDER MANUFACTURING SYSTEMS Y&ouml / ntem, H&uuml / seyin Erdem M.Sc., Operational Research Supervisor: Asst. Prof. Dr. Sedef Meral December 2009, 98 pages In resource constrained supply chains, where demand is higher than the supply, the decision whether to accept or reject the customer order is a very critical task from resource planning and customer service level perspectives. Since the customers, in today&lsquo / s e-business environment, expect quick responses to their orders, some in-advance work has to be done before the arrival of actual customer orders, especially in configure-to-order (CTO) and make-to-order (MTO) production systems. Available-to-Promise (ATP) is a business function that is becoming the central management system for today&lsquo / s dynamic supply chains whose responsibility is to respond customer orders by considering the trade-off between front-end customer satisfaction and back-end capacity allocation. In this study, we propose an availability management approach that introduces push-based allocation planning by using order segmentation before the arrival of actual customer orders in CTO production environments. Moreover, a two-step order promising framework is introduced in order to increase customer service levels through giving certain or v tentative delivery dates immediately to customer orders before the batch, rule-based actual resource consumption processes. The proposed approach is applied to the real-life processes of an enterprise in order to analyze its applicability and evaluate the benefits that accrue. The results of the experiments prove that, the four-phased availability management approach contribute to both overall profit and customer service levels.

Basso, Kenny January 2012 (has links)
This dissertation aims at analyzing the breach and recovery of customer trust in the company after a poor failure recovery - a double deviation situation. Its objective is to investigate the greater effect of trust violation derived from the double deviation situation; the effect that the promise of non-recurrence of failures and apology as trust recovery tactics have on trust; the role of attributions of competence and integrity to explain the effects of trust recovery tactics; and the moderating effect of both trust violation type and temporal distance between the occurrence of double deviation and tactics insertion, in the relationship between recovery tactics and trust. In order to verify these effects, four experimental studies were operationalized. The results from the first study indicate that the breach of trust is higher after the double deviation, compared with the level of trust identified after the simple deviation. In the second study, the possibility of trust restitution by the promise of non-recurrence of failures and apology was verified. The results of this second study indicate that both promise and apology generate higher levels of trust in the company than the control condition (without any tactics) and two other tactics used to restore trust. Furthermore, the second study also shows that the effects of both recovery tactics on trust are fully mediated by attributions of competence or integrity. In the third study, the findings indicate that the effectiveness of recovery tactics depends on the type of trust violation to which the subject was submitted. Whereas the promise generated higher levels of trust when the violation was based on competence, the apology generated higher levels of trust when the violation was based on integrity. In the last experimental study, the results indicate an interaction between the trust recovery tactics and the temporal distance, between the double deviation and the tactics insertion, given that the apology has generated greater levels of trust when the distance was short (vs. long); while the promise generated higher levels of trust when this distance was long (vs. short). Based on that, this dissertation contributes to the marketing and trust recovery literature by showing that: the double deviation intensifies the negative effects on trust generated by the simple deviation, it is possible to rebuild trust after double deviation, through promise and apology; the cues expressed by the recovery tactics and the subject attribution explain the mechanism through which the trust recovery tactics operates; and both the violation of trust type, as well as the temporal distance condition the effects of recovery tactics.

The relevance of Moltmann’s concept of hope for the discourse on hope in Zimbabwe

Chikanya, Tichaona Nigel 02 May 2013 (has links)
Many Zimbabweans experienced its 18 April 1980 independence of Zimbabwe as ushering in an era of hope. However, it is shown that events like Operations Murambatsvina and Makavhotasei, the Land Reform Program, and the Economic Structural Adjustment Program significantly and negatively impacted on the initial hope of independence. The study traces and explores the potential of Moltmann’s work on hope for the Zimbabwean context. It is concluded that Moltmann’s work can make a constructive contribution the meta-discourse on hope in Zimbabwe. This is specifically the case with reference to the way in which Moltmann’s theology of hope integrates the role of history, God’s promise in a comprehensive eschatological framework, grounded in his Christology. / Dissertation (MTh)--University of Pretoria, 2012. / Dogmatics and Christian Ethics / unrestricted

Ermont, Nathalie 09 1900 (has links)
This Master’s thesis explores the modalities of a narrative structure declined in several singular points of view, which multiplies the variations on the theme of betrayal, when it is felt, for a human being, on the affective level. It also explores the question of transmission in a relationship where an adult allows a child to develop his own personality. In the creative part of my thesis, the « novel » entitled Promesses et trahisons recounts the relation between a music master and his young pupil. The reader discovers the successes and the setbacks in this exclusive relationship through three different points of view. After the confession of the student, who remembers as an adult his past history, we have access to the diary of the master presented as an archival document. Another point of view completes the story in the form of a letter, signed by a third party, before an epilogue, which will shed a final light on the plot. The book that inspired the essay section of my thesis is entitled Les Portes du sang. In it, the author, Michel Del Castillo, explores a mother-son relationship (adult and child) through several testimonials, which in turn a narrator tries to contrast and corroborate in order to reveal the elusive personality of the character responsible for her son’s feeling of betrayal. In both cases, one finds a quest for identity whose mystery persists beyond the text.

Tennessee Promise and Two-Year Community College Retention and Graduation in Rural Appalachia

Dycus, Tammy 01 August 2023 (has links) (PDF)
The purpose of this quantitative, non-experimental study was to explore the relationship between the implementation of the Tennessee Promise scholarship program and the two-year Tennessee community college retention rates and graduation rates of first-time, full-time Tennessee students from rural Appalachian counties. Results from this study may help higher education stake-holders better understand the features of Tennessee Promise that are influencing an increase in community college retention and graduation rates for Tennessee students from rural Appalachian counties. The theoretical framework that guided this research was the social capital framework. Data including use of Tennessee Promise, county of origin, retention, and graduation was collected via secure email from seven Tennessee community colleges. The null hypotheses of twelve research questions were tested through SPSS via two-way contingency table analyses using crosstabs. The results revealed that retention and graduation rates of first-time, full-time Tennessee students from rural Appalachian counties attending the participating Tennessee community colleges were significantly higher with the use of Tennessee Promise.

Tennessee Promise: Impact on College Choice in Upper Northeast Tennessee

Barber, Jennifer R 01 May 2018 (has links) (PDF)
The purpose of this correlational study was to explore the relationship between the new statewide two-year financial aid program, Tennessee Promise, and college choice among high school seniors in four counties in upper Northeast Tennessee. Independent variables included GPA, concern about ability to pay for college, and plans to attend a two-year or four-year institution. The dependent variables were scored on three dimensions: cost factors, social factors, and academic factors relating to college choice. Additionally, respondents reported perceptions of Tennessee Promise related to college choice. A 22-item survey was administered to high school seniors from four counties in upper Northeast Tennessee in Spring 2017. There were 294 completed surveys, resulting in a 33% response rate. The financial nexus concept was used as the conceptual framework for the study to explore how perceived affordability influenced college choice. Descriptive statistics, independent-samples t-tests, crosstabulations and one-sample chi-square tests were applied to determine whether a relationship exists between Tennessee Promise and college choice and choice of institution for students concerned with the cost of higher education. Tennessee Promise significantly impacted the decision to attend college and what type of institution to attend. Respondents’ level of concern about ability to pay was shown to have a significant relationship to the type of institution they planned to attend. Additionally, there was a significant relationship between level of concern about ability to pay and the choice to accept Tennessee Promise.
