The promise of righteousness : a fantasy theme analysis of the Promise Keepers

Huffman, David M. 01 January 1999 (has links)
This thesis investigates the seven promises of the Promise Keepers movement using the rhetorical criticism method of fantasy theme analysis. In order to understand this movement, four research questions guided the study: ( 1) What common themes are embedded in the rhetoric of the Promise Keepers? (2) What is the rhetorical vision promoted by the Promise Keepers movement? (3) What makes the vision of the Promise Keepers movement so persuasive to so many Christian men in America? (4) Based on an examination of the rhetoric of the Promise Keepers movement, what can be ascertained about the motives of the movement?" In order to answer these questions, a rhetorical analysis was conducted on the primary literature of the movement. The analysis indicated that the Promise Keepers are trying to transform America into a Christian nation. The Promise Keepers believe that change can be brought about if men follow the movement's seven promises for Christian living. Through these promises, the movement emphasizes a patriarchal view of men in society. In addition, the analysis of the movement's rhetoric suggests that the Promise Keepers are not interested in political change, but moral change through the lives of individual men.

State-Based Promise Programs: The Intersection of State Policy and Low-Income Students' Relationships with Institutional Agents

Michelle L Ashcraft (15308431) 18 April 2023 (has links)
<p><br></p> <p>This three-paper dissertation focuses on state-based promise programs, specifically the intersection of state financial aid policy and promise program scholarship recipients’ relationships with institutional agents. Gaps exist in the literature on promise programs, particularly pertaining to legal research and specific eligibility and renewal criteria, such as the requirement to participate in mentoring programs. Thus, this dissertation will include: (a) a historical law review on Indiana’s 21st Century Scholars program, highlighting recent criteria for a College Scholar Success Program including a mentoring requirement; (b) a current legislative review of mentoring requirements in eligibility and renewal criteria for state-based promise programs; and (c) a scoping review of the literature on mentoring in promise programs to inform future research, policy, and practice. The intended audiences for the research are state policymakers, state governing boards for postsecondary education, PK-16 educational institutions, and practitioners in education, government, philanthropy, business, and non-profits. This dissertation will answer the following research questions: (a) What historical legislative precedence of the Indiana 21st Century Scholars program led to a mentorship requirement in a College Scholar Success Program? (b) How does the Indiana legislation regarding a postsecondary mentorship requirement compare or contrast to mentoring-related eligibility and renewal criteria for other state-based promise program scholarships across the United States? (c) What types of support do state-based promise program mentors provide their mentees? (d) What roles do state-based promise program mentors fulfill when supporting their mentees?</p>

Tell, Viktoria, Karlsson, Sara, Dahlblom, Emma January 2014 (has links)

Vad attraherar supertalangerna? : om anställdas preferenser i textilbranschen / What attracts the super talents? : employee preferences in the textile industry

Andersson, Felicie, Hurtig, Jonathan January 2016 (has links)
In modern society, our work is no longer just a source of income but a tool for self-realization. From the employees' perspective corporate attractiveness, social values, economic benefits and development opportunities are important aspects taken into consideration when applying for a job and therefore important for companies to acknowledge. The theoretical framework therefore puts the employer brand promise and the importance of its compliance in focus. The study aims to investigate preferences among employees in the purchasing and design functions in the textile industry, and see how well they are achieved to draw conclusions about areas for improvement. At the same time, we want to see how much influence the geographical location has and how likely the employees are to share workplace-related information on social media. The study was conducted with a quantitative approach, where data was collected through web surveys with a convenience and snowball sampling method to reach out to relevant people. The survey gathered opinions from more than 23% of the sample field. Of these, almost 84% had post-secondary education and 30% had been employed for over 5 years, which confirms that the participants possesses experience and expertise that is valuable to their employers. Social values were regarded most important and to have a good relationship with colleagues and managers was ranked as the number one preference. A fun atmosphere scored second place. Fortunately, it is also a sense of belonging that employers seem to meet the best. 65% of the respondents graded 7 or higher on job satisfaction on a scale of 1-10. However, there is room for improvement, especially when it comes to factors such as salary, benefits and self-image congruency. The result shows that the workplace location in itself was not remarkably important and as long as the job is meritorious it does not need to be situated in a big city. The study participants indicate that they are active on social media, but few of them express any positive or negative aspects about their employers on these platforms. Here we see a potential area for improvement when it comes to turning the employees into brand ambassadors for the company's employer brand. This research paper is written in Swedish.

The pre-contract in author’s contract law

Poitevin, Claire 13 December 2011 (has links)
The study on the pre-contract in author’s contract law is about the period before the author’s contract itself; the pre-contracts can punctuated that period. This study is about the junction, during the pre-contract period, between the system of common law and the author’s contract law rules under which the contract will be written. It appears that the pre-contract period is completely subjected to the common law rules even though the author’s contract law has an indirect influence on the pre-contract, especially concerning the importance of certain duties. Thus, the pre-contract, which appears before the author’s contract, is subjected to the common law. However, the period of the pre-contract does not ignore the author’s contract law. It gives a legal framework to pre-contracts which can be concluded by the author. Pre-contracts allow contracts’ law rules to infiltrate the pre-contract period.

Mythes bibliques et mythes polynésiens : flexibilité des imaginaires de la conquête et du rêve : images littéraires de la Polynésie du XVIIe au XXIe siècle / Biblical myths and Polynesian myths : the flexibility of the imaginary of conquest and dream : literary images of Polynesia from the XVIIth to the XXIst century

Angué, Chloé 28 June 2016 (has links)
This study comes within the scope of mythocritics, image and postcolonial studies. It seeks to identify and analyse literary images from the sixteenth to twenty-first century Polynesia through biblical and Polynesian myths which are at the basis of these representations. The most famous image is obviously the Polynesian Eden, a cliché constructed by Western travellers and deconstructed by Insular writers. Literatures of the Triangle are also tinged with a reinterpreted Old Testament imaginary and with re-written traditional Polynesian myths. The biblical culture of a deeply evangelised region then mingles with the highlighted representation of pre-contact Polynesia which was so often denied or disparaged by missionaries, settlers and Western writers. Crossing disciplines and using Polynesian concepts have favoured a global vision of how myths (inter)act within literary works that take part in this territory of archipelago’s representation.

Capability to Promise (CTP) Handling Strategy in SAP

Laoniphon, Patriya, Yu, Wenyi January 2011 (has links)
Nowadays, many companies attempt to adapt their production planning and strategy to make order fulfillment more flexible. In manufacturing, the capacity and capability constraints are key factors which need efficient production planning for controlling service level and minimizing inventory cost. This thesis focuses on looking for the economic and efficient strategies for Capability to Promise or CTP handling. This strategy is proposed to work for Low Volume/High Mixed product manufacturing. Moreover, SAP is used as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system for steering the CTP handling strategies in order to increase automated order handling regarding cost efficiency. The results of this research are both concepts and implementations on how to set CTP handling by using SAP, regarding the demand uncertainty environment in Make to Order (MTO) fulfillment.
