In the early years of the 20th century, there were many changes in the Brazilian Republic. The new political-administrative model that was being settled aimed the modernization of the country by attaining the European characteristics of civility; therefore it was necessary to change the population habits and customs. Thus, the Juízo Distrital da Vara de Orfãos of Porto Alegre had a great role on promoting a new organization of the society inside of the families from Porto Alegre, because this unit would create and raise the citizen for the new Republic, as well the new desired individual. This study tried to understand how the Juízo dos Orfãos influenced the (re)organization of the families, the habits and customs of the population from Porto Alegre. For this, the present research had the Social History as the theoretical methodological establishment, in order to clarify the practices of this Juízo during the moment that these individuals were experiencing family breakdown. We believe that, in this way, it is possible to understand how the modernization process in the city of Porto Alegre influenced the structure and the social (re)organization of the family and, consequently, care for children.

Um método para engenharia reversa orientada a objetos. / A method for object-oriented reverse engineering.

Penteado, Rosangela Aparecida Dellosso 19 January 1996 (has links)
A method composed of four steps to conduct object oriented reverse engineering in systems developed using non object oriented technology is presented. This comprehensive, detailed method showing how to do reverse engineering is an advance to the state of the art as there are no published methods hitherto at this level of detail. The documentation produced by the reverse engineering based on the Fusion Method for object oriented systems development is composed by an Object Model, an Operation Model and a Life Cycle Model. An intermediary set of models directly extracted from the code and from a process/data interaction document is also included with the name of Current Systems Analysis Model. The reverse engineering of a software environment for designing reactive systems is shown in detail. This software comprises 30.000 lines of code in C, spread for 495 procedures grouped in 36 modules. This data dictionary-like document was prepared based on documentation contained in several dissertations and papers and mainly on the code itself. The reactive systems software development environment is described as well as its evolution through several versions, and its application is illustrated by designing the statecharts corresponding to an alarm clock. Facilities to specify activities triggered by the statecharts incorporated to the StatSim environment as part of this thesis\' are also discussed and applied to the example. The simulation of the controlling statecharts subjected to different possible events is included through diagrams and logs. This example is also used to illustrate a procedure devised for coupling statecharts and activity diagrams in the specification of reactive systems and for using the software environment to verify this specification. The Fusion Method is compared to other methods for object oriented systems development. The reactive systems development environment based on statecharts is situated among other tools for the development of such systems.

Lighting fires: re-searching sexualized violence with Indigenous girls in Northern Canada

Chadwick, Anna 01 October 2019 (has links)
In this thesis, I reflect on the ethical and theoretical foundations of researching (and re-searching) sexualized violence with Indigenous girls in remote communities in northern British Columbia, Canada, through a project called Sisters Rising, an Indigenous-led, community-based research study focused on centering Indigenous teachings related to sovereignty and gender well-being. Through an emergent methodology drawing from witnessing and borderland feminisms to conduct arts- and land-based workshops with girls and community members, I sought to unsettle my relationships as a diasporic frontline worker to the communities and lands I work with. To disrupt traditional hegemonic discourses of settler colonialism, I look to arts-based and collective witnessing, reflecting on how alternative, safer spaces for Indigenous girls can be created for resistance and (re)storying connections to land and relationships. / Graduate / 2020-09-12

Reentry and retention: a study of the relationship between characteristics of reentry nurses and reemployment in nursing

Foley, Elizabeth, n/a January 1990 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between characteristics of refreshed registered nurses and reemployment in the nursing workforce post Refresher programme. The application forms completed by the participants of the six programmes conducted by the ACT Health Authority (ACTHA, now Department of Community Services and Health ACT) provided data for a profile analysis. Employment data was derived mostly from statistics compiled by the Research Officer, Nursing, ACTHA. The findings of this study demonstrated that inactive registered nurses do return to nursing from periods of non-participation as nurses, following completion of Refresher programmes. Moreover, significant numbers of these returning nurses remain in nursing employment. In relation to that aspect of workforce planning which considers sources of supply for the registered nurse labour market an area for further study would be to explore the area of patient care in which the greater concentration of refreshed nurses were to be found post programme: acute care settings or extended care facilities. The study found that predictions of the successful reentry to nursing of the individual refreshed nurse and of retention in the nursing workforce could not be based on the characteristics of that person, alone. These findings supported the study's hypothesis that there would be no statistically significant difference between the characteristics of refreshed registered nurses who returned to, and remain in, the nursing workforce and those refreshers who either did not reenter nursing post programme or who left during the following twelve months. The characteristics examined were age, family status, post registration nursing experience, post registration nursing courses, worked as a nurse in the ACT prior to the programme, previous employment status, and time inactive from nursing pre-Refresher programme. Trends were identified which indicated that with some characteristics there was a greater likelihood of post programme reemployability in nursing. Refreshed nurses who reentered and remained in the nursing workforce tended to be younger.than those not working as nurses. There was a trend for post programme participators in the nursing workforce to have had fewer years of post registration nursing experience and to be more likely not to have obtained post registration nursing qualifications than their counterparts not working in nursing positions. Perhaps not surprisingly the study found that a higher proportion of the refreshers employed as nurses had previously worked at some stage in ACT health care facilities as registered nurses. A somewhat unexpected finding was that amongst the group of refreshed nurses working in nursing the largest contingent had been inactive from nursing for more years than was the case for those not working as nurses. The majority of refreshed registered nurses, whether they were working as nurses post programme or not had a family status of partner/husband and child(ren) and were unemployed before undertaking the Refresher programme. Refreshed registered nurses have provided a source of supply to the nursing workforce during a period of shortage of qualified nurses in the health care system. In the latter part of the 1980's there have been indications that shortage is largely confined to nurses with specialised skills. The findings from this study should assist the nursing profession in deciding the future role of programmes of reentry for inactive registered nurses who require reskilling for current clinical competence for general patient care areas.

Envisioning a Future Decision Support System for Requirements Engineering : A Holistic and Human-centred Perspective

Alenljung, Beatrice January 2008 (has links)
Complex decision-making is a prominent aspect of requirements engineering (RE) and the need for improved decision support for RE decision-makers has been identified by a number of authors in the research literature. The fundamental viewpoint that permeates this thesis is that RE decision-making can be substantially improved by RE decision support systems (REDSS) based on the actual needs of RE decision-makers as well as the actual generic human decision-making activities that take place in the RE decision processes. Thus, a first step toward better decision support in requirements engineering is to understand complex decision situations of decision-makers. In order to gain a holistic view of the decision situation from a decision-maker’s perspective, a decision situation framework has been created. The framework evolved through an analysis of decision support systems literature and decision-making theories. The decision situation of RE decision-makers has been studied at a systems engineering company and is depicted in this thesis. These situations are described in terms of, for example, RE decision matters, RE decision-making activities, and RE decision processes. Factors that affect RE decision-makers are also identified. Each factor consists of problems and difficulties. Based on the empirical findings, a number of desirable characteristics of a visionary REDSS are suggested. Examples of characteristics are to reduce the cognitive load, to support creativity and idea generation, and to support decision communication. One or more guiding principles are proposed for each characteristic and available techniques are described. The purpose of the principles and techniques is to direct further efforts concerning how to find a solution that can fulfil the characteristic. Our contributions are intended to serve as a road map that can direct the efforts of researchers addressing RE decision-making and RE decision support problems. Our intention is to widen the scope and provide new lines of thought about how decision-making in RE can be supported and improved.

Multi-Agent Designated Proxy Re-Signature Scheme

Lin, I-Shu 28 August 2012 (has links)
With the convenience and development of digital signature and network technologies, several companies are beginning to transmit documents and messages over networks. This is expected to reduce costs and improve the efficiency of the working process. Based on the typical digital signature technique over public key infrastructure, each company can apply for its own certificate from the certificate authority to enable people to verify whether a message is signed by the company through the public key within the certificate. Generally, a general manager is responsible for signing a message to be published. However, the general manager is not always available; hence, the proxy signature scheme can be an efficient solution to this problem. In the typical proxy signature scheme, the delegator will delegate a proxy agent with the power of signing. The proxy agent can sign and produce the signature of the company on behalf of the general manager. A malicious proxy agent involved in the signing process may cause substantial damage to the company because of misbehaviors, such as signature forgery. Therefore, we propose a provably secure multi-agent designated proxy re-signature scheme. In the proposed scheme, the general manager designates several agents as delegatees. Each delegatee signs the message and send her/his signature to the proxy. The proxy can re-sign the message to form the signature of the company only when the proxy has obtained signatures from all delegatees. In addition, security definitions and formal proofs are provided in our scheme.

Study on Business Architecture Reengineering ¡VUsing T Company as a Case Study

Chen, Ta-wei 15 June 2006 (has links)
For decades, the scope of an enterprise becomes huge day by day. In order to adapt to the rapid changing environments, it is necessary that an enterprise considers the re-engineering of organizational structures and functional processes altogether. The enterprise's administrators, while re-enginerring enterprises, need an applicable business architecture to be the Model. While setting up the business architecture, we must dialyse such factors as organizational structures, functional processes, etc. to build up the most suitable strategy. While re-enginerring enterprises, a better result comes out if organizational structures and functional processes are considered altogether. Currently, business re-engineerings adopted by an enterprise belong to process-oriented business re-engineerings. Process-oriented business re-engineerings focus mainly on an enterprise¡¦s functional processes and neglect the relationship between organizational structures and functional processes. The achievement is always not so good as expected. Embracing organizational structures and functional processes in concert and harmony, it has offered and organized advantages received after business re-engineering, the best shared practice and experience. This research probes into architecture-oriented business re-engineerings. This research leads business re-engineering and starts from the process-oriented business re-engineering that most enterprises choose now. And from ¡§organizational structures and functional processes in concert and harmony,¡§ it carries on business re-engineering necessary terms to succeed in to prove, still lies in: ¡§organizational structures and functional processes in concert and harmony,¡¨ ¡§tactics architecture of globality,¡¨ ¡§carry on the re-engineering to the cardinal or key architecture,¡¨ ¡§trans-departmental architecture re-engineering groups,¡¨ ¡§comprehensible enterprise architecture perspective,¡¨ ¡§understanding and analysing business architecture,¡¨ etc. This is exactly one of the elements that architecture-oriented business re-engineering needs too. It is expected that it can lead to an important reference that the business re-engineering requires. According to the above conclusion, we find that an enterprise can be benefited by the contribution of this research. It also provides administrators or executives many suggestions that support implementing business re-engineering of an enterprise. Key Words: Business Architecture, Architecture-Oriented Business Re-engineering, Process-Oriented Business Re-engineering, Organizational Structure, Functional Porcesss

Rituals and repetitions : the displacement of context in Marina Abramovic's Seven Easy Pieces

Tomic, Milena 11 1900 (has links)
This thesis considers Seven Easy Pieces, Marina Abramović’s 2005 cycle of re-performances at the Guggenheim Museum, as part of a broader effort to recuperate the art of the 1960s and 1970s. In re-creating canonical pieces known to her solely through fragmentary documentation, Abramović helped to bring into focus how performances by Joseph Beuys, Bruce Nauman, Gina Pane, Vito Acconci, Valie Export, and herself were being re-coded by the mediating institutions. Stressing the production of difference, my analysis revolves around two of the pieces in detail. First, the Deleuzian insight that repetition produces difference sheds light on the artist’s embellishment of her own Lips of Thomas (1975) with a series of Yugoslav partisan symbols. What follows is an examination of the enduring role of this iconography, exploring the 1970s Yugoslav context as well as the more recent phenomenon of “Balkan Art,” an exhibition trend drawing upon orientalizing discourse. While the very presence of these works in Tito’s Yugoslavia complicates the situation, I show how the transplanted vocabulary of body art may be read against the complex interweaving of official rhetoric and dissident activity. I focus on two distinct interpretations of Marxism: first, the official emphasis on discipline and the body as material producer, and second, the critique of the cult of personality as well as dissident notions about the role of practice in social transformation. It is in this sense that a distinctly spiritualist vocabulary also acquires a political dimension in drawing upon movements such as Fluxus and Neo-Dada, and underscoring the value of the immaterial and the non-productive. Finally, I explain how a reversal of Slavoj Žižek’s tripartite structure of ideology can help to articulate how a repetition of Beuys’s actions in this context actually displaces their cosmological aspect by virtue of the re-enactment setting alone.

Re-design av kommunikationsbyrån Åkesson & Currys webbsida : En rapport som beskriver produktionsprocessen för kommunikationsbyråns nya webbsida / Re-design of the communications agency Åkesson & Currys website : A report describing the production process of the communication agency's new website

Beijer, Frida January 2013 (has links)
This report describes the production process during a re-design of a website. The communications agency Åkesson & Currys website has existed for over five years. In these days the company does not think that the website represents who they are. The aim for me was to examine how they look upon their identity. The goal was to enable a new vision of Åkesson & Curry's identity and come up with design sketches of a website that presents them in a right manner. The re-design enables the user to become interested in the agency and desire to initiate a contact with Åkesson & Curry. The report describes my approach through interviews, lists of goals, personas and scenarios. These methods have led me to a solid starting point when developing the colour palette, logotype and producing the design sketches. The development was done in the programs Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign. The result was a website that is clean, warm and attractive – the opposite of Åkesson & Curry's current website.
