Understanding flow and chunking constructs in self service technologiesEsterhuyse, Jacques January 2013 (has links)
When developing new services on SSTs it is very important to keep in mind what the user experience is when using it and that this experience will vary across different types of users. This study intends to investigate the flow experience of users when presented with different types of menu options (chunked / grouped vs. a listed menu) across different types of users.
The research is quantitative and causal in nature, and used an experimental factorial design in the conduct of the research. The TRI and flow scales were used in the questionnaire design and a total of 139 respondents were involved in the experiment. The study found that the impact of flow is greater with lower TRI respondents than with higher TRI respondents on SSTs / Dissertation (MBA)--University of Pretoria, 2013. / ccgibs2014 / Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) / MBA / Unrestricted

Readiness for hydrogen energy systems deployment in China, Spain, Sweden, the UK.Gavriljeva, Olga January 2022 (has links)
This thesis studies preconditions for clean hydrogen energy deployment in energy systems of Spain, Sweden, The UK, and China, considering these countries' geographical, political, and economic peculiarities. Countries' readiness for hydrogen energy uptake assessment is based on a comprehensive analysis of energy systems in selected countries by taking an integrated whole-system approach analyzing hydrogen supply in different infrastructure configurations as well as hydrogen transportation and storage and hydrogen use in the energy ecosystem. The readiness index of each country is evaluated in technological, political, societal, and economic dimensions, which are interdependent and influence not only each other, but the entire outcome of the energy transition phenomena studied in this thesis. The analysis concludes that the political dimension is the dominant one, as the government has the power to steer finance toward a green transition, making the desired change, such as clean hydrogen energy industry formation in the country, happen. Current energy transition entails economic and institutional change and deep industrial restructuring, all of which require specific policy instruments and conditionalities, balancing risks and behaviours in the process of the energy transition. Based on the results of this study, the UK and China have the highest political readiness among the analyzed countries, which also results in their higher economic, technology, and societal readiness levels.

Process enhancement and database support for vehicle operational readiness reportingMenko, Russell H. 12 1900 (has links)
Approved for public release, distribution is unlimited / The U.S. Army uses a Unit Readiness Index to track the combat readiness of systems. The Unit Readiness Index relies on the accuracy of automated and manual testing of the hardware and related software of the Line Replaceable Units (LRUs) that comprise the system. These tests are based on a GO/NOGO scenario. When an LRU fails, vehicle commanders, and commanders up the chain of command, can override the failure and continue with a mission. Overriding the NOGO recommendations produces a false combat readiness status for the unit, and creates a number of problems related to unit combat decisions as well as logistical support. This thesis introduces a new process for more effectively tracking combat readiness. It outlines some of the problems associated with the current GO/NOGO scenario and examines the current tests, artifacts and data available from the current process. It proposes an additional Report process and shows how this new process will eliminate the readiness tracking problems associated with the GO/NOGO scenario. It also presents the design of a Vehicle Database and Master Fault Database to support the proposed process, and presents several sample reports generated from this Master Fault Database. / Civilian, United States Army RDECOM - TARDEC

The Comparison of Factors That Constitute Different Internet Consumer Behavior among CountriesWu, Yun-Te 22 August 2003 (has links)
In recent years, the growth of Internet¡¦s popularity and prosperity not only brings about people¡¦s intention to utilize Internet service, but also enhances the attractiveness of e-commerce. Many entrepreneurs spot how usages of Internet can benefit their business due to its main advantages, such as low cost and fast reaction. As the result, besides the traditional retail sales and leaguers, many other businesses gradually started to adopt Internet as a mean to interact with their customers, including online shopping and other services. On the other hand, for customers, it is extremely convenient to simply sit in front of their desktops, look through catalogs, and buy what they like with several simple clicks on their computer screens. Because of the convenience of online store, more and more people started trying this modern way of shopping.
The purpose of this study is to investigate what external factors would affect online shoppers¡¦ intention to purchase items online, and how various available items influence shoppers¡¦ intention to buy things through Internet. The result of the study shows that internet shoppers¡¦ intention to purchase items online is directly proportional to the products¡¦ digitalized degree, network readiness index, and geographical factors; inverse related to the information richness and technology acceptance. Moreover, there are also significant differences in ratios of online shopping among various countries and products.

The relationship of the technology specified, knowledge management, global configurations strategy of MNCs.Chen, Wen-Hung 22 August 2003 (has links)
With continuous development, businesses cannot restrict to only one country or area. Establishing operation or production centers across the sea is the most important factor for businesses to live permanently. Thus, many large-scale companies become multinational corporations to integrate global resources and create the most powerful synergy. With this change, those corporations also strengthen their competitiveness in the market. It is the most obvious phenomenon after the 20th century that multinational or multi-national corporations rapidly expand by the work of value chain of their oversea subsidiary companies.
Many researches show that enterprises benefited a lot from successfully practice Knowledge Management (KM). KM does not success in the enterprise just only spending a fortune, purchasing and using KM software; it also depends on coordinating enterprise¡¦s culture and resources, carrying out the KM plan systematically and progressively to establish a climate of KM among all employers.
Many companies practice ISO quality management system (the ISO) before KM. The ISO makes all explicit knowledge and tacit knowledge into formal papers and documents and easy to arrange. Thus, the ISO lays a conceptual and systematic foundation KM and makes the enterprise practice KM more easily.
This research to discuss the relation between KM activities and global disposition strategies of MNCs. It contents analysis of KM topics by the view of technology mature degree, the relation between the ISO and KM, the relation between roles of Human Resources Management and the activities of value chain of its oversea subsidiary companies under different Knowledge Innovation strategies, and the relation between KM and strategies of global resources disposition under different technology mature degree. Following are the conclusions of this research:
1. Companies belong to low degree of technology maturity should use dispersal strategies of global resources disposition).
2. All companies should emphasize ¡¨sharing¡¨ no matter they belong to which degree of technology maturity.
3. Knowledge processing should match the company¡¦s KM system.
4. High response knowledge innovation strategy benefits the activities of value chain of oversea subsidiary companies.
5. Coordinate and control roles of Human Resource Management is more and more important when the company uses local for local innovation strategy of knowledge innovation.
6. Companies practice the ISO benefit to knowledge transfer.
According to the conclusions above, there are some suggestions to businesses:
1. To build up the Software System of KM that meets the company¡¦s needs.
2. To develop professional KM manager.
3. To set up the concept of ¡¨employees¡¦ knowledge is a big fortune¡¨.
4. To establish the culture of ¡§sharing¡¨.
5. To make good use of the ISO.
6. To integrate strategies of global resources disposition and KM.
7. To play different roles of Human Resource Management when come across different KM activities.
