Why consumers engage in eWOM : motivation to conduct research online and post online reviews / Varför konsumenter engagerar sig i eWOM : motivation till att nyttja information på nätet och skapa onlinerecensioner

Lulek, Alexandra, Wehinger, Marcus January 2015 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to provide a better understanding why consumers conduct research online and post online reviews. This was achieved by finding relationships between the two phenomena presented above. The study used a cross-sectional design since little was known about the relationships within the chosen research area. Results were measured by quantitative instrument through a self-administered questionnaire divided by each phenomenon. The questionnaire was directed towards Swedish consumers in the buying decision process.Consumers conduct research online with the specific goal for gaining information posted by other consumers, since it has a higher credibility. Helping other consumers and self-expression was reasons found in relation to why consumers post online reviews.Findings strengthen the fact that higher education could be found of relationship to conduct research online; however, not to post online reviews. In comparison to previous studies the study measured online shopping frequency instead of Internet experience. It was found that consumers who conducted online shopping were in relation with previous presented theories.

Number of Authors Predicts Influence on Evaluations of Journal Submissions

Lim, Likie Shawn January 2010 (has links)
180 students from the University of Canterbury were randomly assigned to reading and evaluating 4 counterbalanced abstracts under the cover story of a departmental journal submission procedure. This study tested whether the number of authors assigned to a journal submission is an influential factor on the acceptance rate of a submission regardless of the quality of the abstract. Also, it assessed whether the influence of a number of authors on the chance of acceptance interacts with the acceptance rate of the journal. In other words, the study investigated not only the extent to which number of authors influences acceptance regardless of quality, but how much of an influence this has for which kind of journals (in terms of the journal’s acceptance rate). The study also measured how much individual personality variables such as guilt-proneness and tendency to adhere to descriptive norms influences a reviewer’s willingness to accept a journal submission. Results found that number of authors had a significant effect on evaluation. Possible reasons and study limitations were discussed.

eWOM: Kundrecensioners påverkan på konsumenter utifrån Regulatory Focus-teorin

Al-Saad, Hussein, Tostemar, Patrik January 2014 (has links)
This study examines the eWOM effect, more specifically: how customer reviews effects consumers. The study is based on a modified version of the Regulatory Focus Theory which describes consumer behavior using consumer consumption goals. The purpose of this study was to examine how positive and negative customer review's influence consumers when analyzing products that are equally characterized by two consumption goals: promotion and prevention goals. The authors combined quantitative (questionnaire) and qualitative (focus groups) research methods with the sample selection for both research methods being based on students of Södertörns University. Results indicate that negative customer reviews have a stronger influence on consumers than positive customer reviews when analyzing products that are equally characterized by the promotion goals and prevention goals. The results contradict the authors hypothesis which predicted an equally strong influence from positive and negative customer reviews.

Decision making in statutory reviews and children in care

Sinclair, Ruth January 1984 (has links)
This thesis reports on a study into the decision-making that takes place within the six monthly statutory review of the cases of children in the care or under the supervision of the Local Authority. The research had four aims: 1. To develop a typology of review decisions whereby decisions taken in reviews could be classified according to their salient features. 2. To ascertain the level of the subsequent implementation of the decisions taken in reviews and to consider what factors contribute to or hinder their implementation. 3. To identify the functions of statutory reviews and the perceptions of the members of social work teams of the functions appropriate to reviews. 4. To consider the role and the importance of statutory reviews within the context of overall child care practice. The empirical research was undertaken in three social work area offices within one local authority. Information was gathered from almost three hundred reviews. The researcher, having first read the case record, attended two consecutive six-monthly reviews on the child. The social workers involved in these reviews were questioned on their opinions on reviews in general and on each review attended. Those 'researched' reviews gave rise to almost nine hundred review decisions, which were analysed according to the typology of decisions, and the level of their subsequent implementation was assessed. This study was designed as a policy-orientated study. Hence the research is presented first, within the broad context of developments in child care policy since the war, and second, in relation to the literature on statutory sreviews arising both from research studies and from policy documents. Furthermore, the concluding chapter points to the policy implications that may be drawn from the research findings, together with suggestions for policy changes.

Využití ošetřovatelského standardu "očkování" v primární péči o dítě / Improvement nurse standard "vaccinations" in primary care about child

MÁCOVÁ, Veronika January 2011 (has links)
Application of the ?vaccination? nursing standard in primary child care Vaccination is a topic having been discussed since the very beginning. It is one of the most important parts of prevention of infectious diseases. Thanks to vaccination we only know some infectious diseases from historical resources nowadays. The vaccination history is not really long, however vaccination has helped save a lot of children lives. Despite undisputable benefit of vaccination there are still more opponents of vaccination, whose arguments are very often groundless or taken out of context. Diseases that had been nearly eradicated thanks to vaccination have spread in countries where some vaccination ended. This is why vaccination is so important. There are a lot of vaccines on the market nowadays, new vaccination substances still appear and compulsory and no-compulsory vaccination is being changed with gradual scientific development. My thesis presents a complex outline of information on children vaccination and vaccination procedures. The aim of the thesis was to explore the present situation and vaccination procedures applied by practitioners for children and adolescents. Another aim was to develop a nursing standard for children vaccination and to check its practical applicability. To meet these goals the thesis is divided into a theoretical part including structured information on children vaccination and vaccination procedures in the past and at present. The practical pat of the thesis is focused on quantitative examination of the present situation, vaccination procedures and collection of information on novelties in vaccination in surgeries of practitioners for children and adolescents. The data were collected by means of a questionnaire, which was distributed to 130 surgeries of practitioners for children and adolescents in Vysočina and South Bohemia regions. 93 of the 130 questionnaires were suitable for processing. The practical part then contains an audit and an inquiry about the elaborated nursing standard performed in 6 surgeries of practitioners for children and adolescents. The questionnaire and the inquiry were anonymous. Both the set goals were met. The results show that there are differences both in vaccination procedures and in approach to children vaccination in the individual surgeries of practitioners for children and adolescents. The research results also point out that information on vaccination is sufficient, however unclear. The result of the audit and the inquiry showed that the elaborated standard is practically applicable and is beneficial for nurses. These result confirm that a nurse always participates in vaccination process, which is why it is important for her to be informed enough on children vaccination and related activities and to be able to perform vaccination as well as related administration. The thesis may be useful in my opinion as it contains complex and structured information on children vaccination. This is why it may be used both in a surgery of a practitioner for children and adolescents and for educational purposes. Of course with consideration to vaccination related amendments of the Ministry of Health Care.

Jak recenzenti nahlížejí na hry? Počítačové hry jako umělecké a technické produkty / How do reviewers percieve games? Videogames as artistic and technical products

Kolmann, Karel January 2016 (has links)
The main topic is centered around videogame journalism and the way in which game reviewers look at videogames. The defining question is whether videogame journalists treat videogames as cultural or technical products thorough their work. The role and position of videogame journalism, games as art and aesthetics aspects of videogames are first studied in the theoretical section. These topics are further examined in practice using content analysis of chosen reviews which aims to investigate the means through which reviewers describe videogames in previously theoretically defined categories.
