Vybraná rizika měkkých cílů / Selected Soft Target Risks

Handl, Petr January 2019 (has links)
The diploma thesis deals with selected risks of soft targets, which may have a negative impact on the safety and security of these objects. In the current, we can find an explanation of the concept of soft targets, the terrorism that affects them and possible ways of protecting those targets. In our own solution we find an evaluation of the vulnerability of soft targets, possible countermeasures and risks arising from these measures.

ADAPTIVE VERTICAL SEISMIC ISOLATION FOR EQUIPMENT

Najafijozani, Mohammadreza January 2019 (has links)
Seismic isolation systems are widely recognized as beneficial for protecting both acceleration- and displacement-sensitive nonstructural systems and components. Furthermore, adaptive isolation systems have been shown to enable engineers to achieve various performance goals under multiple hazard levels. These systems have been implemented for horizontal excitation, but there has been very limited research on isolation for vertical excitation. Thus, this paper seeks to evaluate the benefit of adaptive vertical isolation systems for component isolation, specifically for nuclear plants. To do this, three vertical isolation systems are designed to achieve multiple goals: a linear spring and a linear damper (LSLD), a linear spring and a nonlinear damper (LSND) and a nonlinear spring and a linear damper (NSLD). To investigate the effectiveness of the proposed systems, a stiff piece of equipment is considered at an elevated floor within a power plant. A set of 30 triaxial ground motions is used to investigate the seismic response of the equipment. The maximum isolation displacement and equipment acceleration are used to assess the effectiveness of the three isolation systems. While all systems significantly reduce the seismic accelerations on the equipment compared to the fixed-base case, a LSND system is shown to exhibit superior seismic performance across multiple hazard levels. / Thesis / Master of Applied Science (MASc)

About 85% of that living in developing countries (WHO, 2006). In Brazil 21% of the population is in this age range, (IBGE, 2002). Adolescents are generally thought to be healthy, but it is recognizes the increase of the mortality in accident, suicide, violence, pregnancy related complication and other illnesses that are either preventable or treatable. The objective of this study is to investigate the situations of risk and protection to the health, for a low income adolescents. It is a qualitative descriptive study, carried through in the community of São Remo, São Paulo City, characterized for the poverty and the violence. The method used for collection of data was the focus group. 20 adolescents participated, divided in two groups, one of 12 to 14 years and another one of 15 to 18 years. Three meetings with each group were carried. The meetings were recorded, transcribed and the content of these data were analised according to Bardin (1977). The research results demonstrated that situations of risks to the health are consequence of the fragil familiar support, physical violence caused by third with emphasis in the police violence, psychological violence, test of social inclusion at school, use of drugs and transgressive behaviors. The factors of protection detected were: family, particulary the mother figure, religions, teacher as reference and future projects. The results demonstrate that the situations of risk to the health of low income adolescents are more evident than for those concerning protection.

Malmberg, Johanna, Nilsson Mattisson, Amanda January 2018 (has links)
Tre verksamheter i samma kommun besöktes. / The study aims to gain an understanding of how social workers attend to comorbidities in individuals who search help with their addiction. Furthermore, it is investigated how social workers experience meetings with indviduals who have an addiction and who have mental illness. The aim is also to investigate social workers’ experiences of which factors can affect the work of social harmony. The empirical material of the study is based on qualitative, semi-structured interviews with five social workers who have experiences with individuals comorbidities. Three operations were visited in the same community. The empirical material is also based on the knowledge situation in the field. The theoretical perspectives that have been applied are collaboration and stigma. The results show that social workers that face individuals who have an addiction as well as mental illness, which they identify as a comorbidity. They work with individual adaptations based on the individual’s situation. There is also some interaction between social services and psychiatry. At the same time, there is a collaborative effort to develop new working methods that can be used in collaboration around individuals who have comorbidities. Individuals who have comorbidities are particularly vulnerable and at risk to end up between businesses. The factors that can affect the work with social harmony are the individual’s intelligence, access to housing, work, social network, and psychiatric contact. Social workers experience about meeting with indviduals who have comorbidities are perceived to be complex and difficult. This is because of the meaning of comorbidites, lack of knowledge, and that collaborative work has been problematized and new working methods are being developed.

Four analysis axes were theoretically assessed in order to explore these categories: Work, consciousness, risk factors and protection to human development, and the historical-cultural theory of subjectivity , always on a Marxist reality point-of-view. Seven women living in a Campinas outskirts district took part in the research, aged between 20 and 59 years, residing there for at least one year and using the VivaLeite Social Program - a State Government Program for the transfer of income, which assures to families with less than a minimum salary, the offer of milk to up to three-year old children The information build-up technique was based on the historical-cultural approach, utilizing a semi-directed interview script. Participants were interviewed in May, June, and July 2007, along eleven meetings, and their participation was recorded and transcribed for analysis. The result of the four categories is as follows: a) The experience of alienated work produces more than social inequalities; it creates inhuman conditions in work ambience; b) Conscience motion itself appears when they perceive the unequal life condition, but cannot place this unequal life condition conscience to benefit a claiming action; c) The genre relationship, an important issue that popped up during the interviews, appears as an oppression factor and is subject to the class condition, and d) Human development, as a result of the whole relationship chain within capitalism and difficulty inherent to an education process in such conditions inflict limits that create the vicious circle of oppression and inequality, especially in genre relationship, but in class relationship in general. Havarijní připravenost Nestlé Česko s.r.o., závodu ZORA / Emergency preparedness of Nestlé Česko, s.r.o, Zora

PUPÍKOVÁ, Pavlína January 2016 (has links)
The thesis deals with the issue of emergency preparedness of Nestlé Česko, s.r.o, Zora Olomouc. According to the Act. No. 224/2015 Coll., concerning prevention of major accidents caused by selected dangerous chemical substances or chemical preparations and concerning amendment there is underlimit amount of hazardous chemical ammonia in the area and we cannot classify this as group A or B. On these not-classified resources there are not subject to some duties under this Act, especially the obligation to prepare an emergency documentation. There are a lot of factories like this in the Czech republic (and in the world) and there is certain danger for employees of this companies and for civilian population who is in the danger area. There is more than 6700kg of ammonia in the factory Zora and it is quite a lot. We have to look at special precautions. Ammonia is taken as moderately toxic substance that irritates the eyes, mucous membranes, and in high concentrations can cause death. Another dangerous effect, except the toxicity is its explosiveness and flammability. Impacts of hazardous concentrations are not threat only for people but also for animals and the environment.

Bilateral investment treaties and portfolio investment

Eichler, Stefan, Nauerth, Jannik A. 22 January 2024 (has links)
We analyze the effect of bilateral investment treaties (BITs) on bilateral foreign portfolio investment in equity and debt securities. We find that expropriation risk and the level of a BIT’s investor protection are complementary. Applying a Poisson Pseudo-Maximum-Likelihood model to a panel of 60 home and 39 host countries from 2002 to 2017, we find that host countries receive 40% more bilateral equity investment when they protect foreign investors with a BIT. This effect almost doubles when investment protection of BITs is strong, and the political risk of the host country is high.

How does society take responsibility for the foster children? : A study of social workers professional experience and work methods with support for foster parents

Rasmussen, Tess, Isaksson, Kelly January 2018 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to investigate social workers professional experiences of social services statutory responsibilities to provide advice, support and other help to foster families. Furthermore, the purpose was to analyze what factors and conditions that affects social workers ability to provide adequate support. According to both inter-national and Swedish research foster parents are asking for more support. We became curious about how foster care secretaries in Sweden give support. To get this infor-mation we had three focusgroup interviews with a total of twelve social workers. Our three focusgroups were located in municipalities in southern Sweden. The interviews were transcribed and coded for our results. The theoretical perspective we used were Urie Bronfenbrenner's theory about the ecology of human development and the perspec-tive about risk- and protection factors. The study shows that they have quite few sup-port methods to offer the foster homes and the lack of resources (time, education and economy) and vague guidelines are two factors that affects the social workers ability to provide adequate support. Although social services becomes the deputy parent of the foster child and are one protection factor in the child's life, the social services does not receive much attention in forms of for example further education.
