Present situation The theoretical part of the diploma thesis is divided into four separate chapters. The first chapter deals with cerebrovascular accident (CVA). Another chapter describes the consequences of illness in various areas of human life. The third chapter defines the concept of follow-up care and the fourth chapter deals with diagnosed obesity. Aims of the work and research questions The aim of the diploma thesis is to map out the influence of obesity on follow-up care of patients after cerebrovascular accident. Research questions: 1. How does obesity affect patient mobility after CVA? 2. How does obesity affect the hygienic care of patients after CVA? 3. How does obesity affect normal daily activities of CVA patients? 4. What is the impact of obesity on developing self-sufficiency in CVA patients? Quality research was done through semi-structured interviews with CVA patients who were hospitalized in the aftercare department. Other interviews were conducted with general nurses providing nursing care to CVA patients. Research group The research group consisted of 11 general nurses working at different follow-up care hospital stations, and 16 patients who were hospitalized at these departments after the CVA. Results By analyzing the information obtained, it has been determined that obesity affects the patients mobility especially after the cerebrovascular event. At the same time, it represents a physical and psychological burden for nursing staff, but also for patients. The problem has been the fact, that most patients do not perceive obesity as a condition affecting their whole life. Conclusion The diploma thesis has provided insight into the problematic of the influence of obesity on the follow-up care in patients after cerebrovascular accident. The findings should lead to a reflection on the issue of prevention of obesity in terms of both CVA risk and follow-up care, but also the need for educational activities.

Analýza zdrojové soběstačnosti NNO v kultuře / Analysis of the resource self-sufficiency of NGOs in cultureSvobodová, Lucie January 2011 (has links)
The Master's Thesis focuses on resource self-sufficiency analysis of four chosen NGOs in culture. Those are theatres Činoherní klub, Semafor, Archa and Dejvické divadlo. All of the organizations underwent the Prague theatre transformation process and became the Public Service Companies. The Thesis investigates, whether the change into to private subject and the rising independence have led also to the increase of resource self-sufficiency and extension of financial resource portfolio. For this purpose the financial statements of the theatres were analysed. The resource self-sufficiency index was put in the context of other financial analysis indices. The Thesis has shown, that although the theatres use at least four financial resources, they are highly dependent on incomes from provided public services and especially on subsidies from the public budgets. The NGOs should improve their level of business activities and fundraising. The resource self-sufficiency of analysed theatres is between 35 and 52 %. While in three cases the self-sufficiency has been increasing, in the last case it has been decreasing continuously.

"En klients önkemål kan vara ett hinder i arbetet" : en studie om individuella bedömningar inom socialtjänstens enhet för ekonomiskt bistånd / "A client requests can be an obstacle in the work" : A study of individual assessments in the social services unit for financial assistanceWanngård, Matilda January 2016 (has links)
Abstract This paper is a peer-review about social workers´ experiences and descriptions of making individual assessments of their unemployed clients when working toward self-sufficiency and eventual obstacle for making them. The paper also deals with how social workers prioritize their work tasks. The study was conducted through interviews with five social workers at the same workplace. The results have been analyzed using theories of discretion, street-level bureaucrats and client dimensions within a street-level bureaucracy. The result shows that lack of time and limitation of discretion have negative influences in the social workers’ ability to make individual assessments. The result also shows that individual assessments are foremost made when the clients mismanage their planning and are risking not getting their application for financial assistance approved. Further the results show that the processing of applications and payment of financial assistance is a priority task since it is considered to be most important to clients and result in the greatest consequences for both social workers and clients if not performed. The discussion that follows is about the possible consequences of prioritizing work tasks this way.

Disconnected realities within Icelandic agriculture : A field study of farmers' narratives on the changing landscape of domestic agricultural production in Hrunamannahreppur, Southern Iceland.Thorkelsdóttir, Hrönn January 2020 (has links)
This thesis is situated in the academic sphere of human geography. The overall aim is to identify the current challenges and possibilities Icelandic farmers face in terms of changes in importation laws. This research is exemplary in its field as it uses the narratives of the stakeholders, farmers in this case, as the main data source. The research questions were as following: Is there an agricultural cluster in the region and if so, how does it work; what challenges and possibilities do farmers in the municipality of Hrunamannahreppur face in terms of the recent import law and lastly; according to the farmers, how do policies and laws in Icelandic agriculture ensure long-term farming practices in Iceland. The thesis uses theories of agricultural localization theory, cluster theory and the concepts of competitive and comparative advantages along with the concept of food self-sufficiency. The methods used are semi-structured qualitative interviews during a field study in southern Iceland. Data sources include seven qualitative interviews with farmers in the selected area, a review of agricultural policies and frameworks, and other sources such as articles and media. The main findings are that there is an unexplained disconnect within agriculture and its actors, indicating that policies give preferentiality to economic gain rather than preserving long-term farming in Iceland.
