Gemeinsamer Workshop von Universitaetsrechenzentrum und Professur Rechnernetze und verteilte Systeme der Fakultaet fuer Informatik der TU Chemnitz. Die Zielstellung dieses Vortrags besteht darin, die küftige Position des URZ zum Betriebssystem Windows zur Diskussion zu stellen. Ausgangspunkt ist eine Bestandsaufnahme der bisherigen windows-basierten Technologie des URZ. Darauf aufbauend werden die Dienste und deren Realisierungsaufwand bewertet. Es folgt eine Charakterisierung der aktuellen Windows-Plattformen aus technologischer Sicht. Der Vortrag endet mit einem Technologievorschlag und soll die Grundlage fuer eine anschliessende Diskussion sowie daraus abzuleitende Konsequenzen sein.

Chukchi Sea environmental data management in a relational database

Environmental data hold important information regarding humanity’s past, present, and future, and are managed in various ways. The database structure most commonly used in contemporary applications is the relational database. Its usage in the scientific world for managing environmental data is not as popular as in businesses enterprises. Attention is caught by the diverse nature and rapidly growing volume of environmental data that has been increasing substantially in recent. Environmental data for the Chukchi Sea, with its embedded potential oil resources, have become important for characterizing the physical, chemical, and biological environment. Substantive data have been collected recently by researchers from the Chukchi Sea Offshore Monitoring in the Drilling Area: Chemical and Benthos (COMIDA CAB) project. A modified Observations Data Model was employed for storing, retrieving, visualizing and sharing data. Throughout the project-based study, the processes of environmental data heterogeneity reconciliation and relational database model modification and implementation were carried out. Data were transformed into shareable information, which improves data interoperability between different software applications (e.g. ArcGIS and SQL server). The results confirm the feasibility and extendibility of employing relational databases for environmental data management. / text

Deja, kompiuterinės mokomosios priemonės beveik neišnaudoja komandinio darbo galimybės, nors tai laikoma viena daugiausiai žadančių inovacijų ugdymo procese. Šiai spragai užpildyti sukurta platforma, įgalinanti mokomiesiems žaidimams suteikti interaktyvaus komandinio darbo realiu laiku galimybę. Platforma skirta praktiniam pritaikymui mokomajame portale http://mokinukai.lt. Siekiama, kad platforma atitiktų šiuos reikalavimus: būtų universali ir pritaikoma įvairioms sritims, lengvai plečiama, mokomųjų žaidimų įtraukimas į platformą būtų kuo paprastesnis. Platformos veikimui pasirinktas mišrus kliento/serverio ir tiesioginio sujungimo modelis, kurio savybės geriausiai atitinka išsikeltus reikalavimus. Platforma geriausiai veikia su mokomaisiais žaidimais, turinčiais mažai žaidėjų ir nedidėlį duomenų srautą, tad tinkama pritaikymui praktikoje. / Usage of information technologies in people‘s lives is increasing, as well as increasing their application in the learning process. Unfortunately, those applications don‘t take advantage of team-work opportunity, although it is considered one of the most promising innovations in education. To fill this gap, a platform, enabling educational games to integrate interactive real-time team-work, was created. This platform is intended to be adopted to educational portal http://mokinukai.lt. The aim is that the platform has the following characteristics: a versatile and adaptable to various areas, not only education, easily expandable, creating new games to work on the platform is as easy as possible. For platform‘s architecture a mix of client/server and peer-to-peer models was chosen, it‘s characteristics suits the requirements best. The platform works best with educational games, having a few players and little traffic, so it is suitable for application in practice.

Creating a Secure Server Architecture and Policy for Linux-based Systems

Creating and maintaining servers for hosting services in a secure and reliable way is an important but complex and time-consuming task. Misconfiguration and lack of server maintenance can potentially make the system vulnerable. Hackers can exploit these vul­nerabilities in order to penetrate into the system internals and cause damage. Having a standard architecture/configuration supporting the needed services saves time and re­sources while it reduces security risks. A server architecture protected by a security policy can secure the integrity and quality of the overall services. This research demon­strates building a secure server architecture protected by a security policy. To achieve this a security policy and a checklist was designed and combined with a host based IDPS, a NMS and a WAF.

Performance Evaluation of Various Open Source Projects Providing SIP Functionality

In recent times, the usage of Voice and Video over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services has increased tremendously. There are many signaling protocols such as Bearer Independent Call Control (BICC), H.323, Media Gateway Control Protocol (MGCP), Session Initiation protocol (SIP) etc., that are used for establishment of sessions and to carry out voice and video data services. SIP has become popular because of its easy implementation, flexibility and good scalability. Choice of Open Source SIP server software (OS-SIP Server Software) is important when deploying in a VoIP based network. So we need to evaluate the performance of OS-SIP Server Softwares in an ideal condition before it is deployed to real environment. This document evaluates and compares the performance of three OS-SIP Server Softwares which are quite popular. A SIPp traffic generator tool is used to generate scenarios namely Registration with authentication, Registration without authentication, Session establishment, and Session establishment with response delay at User Agent Server (UAS) side. Using these scenarios, the performance of OS-SIP Server Softwares is evaluated with respect to parameters such as Registrations per second, Calls per second, Response delay, and Percentage of successful calls and registrations. From the experimental results, we observed that there is a significant performance difference among the SIP server softwares. OpenSIPS is the best OS-SIP Server Software for the scenarios Registration with authentication, Registration without authentication and Session establishment with response delay. Asterisk server is the best OS-SIP Server Software when compared with the other two (OpenIMSCore and OpenSIPS) servers for the scenario Session establishment.

Denna rapport beskriver utvecklandet av en applikation till operativsystemet Android. Här sätts utvecklingen av applikationen i förhållande till god användbarhet och hantering av resurser på en mindre plattform. En server med tillhörande databas kommunicerar med applikationen som klient. De båda utgör tillsammans helheten i ett system designat för bokningsbolaget Current and Able, verksamt i Sverige, som önskar presentera sitt utbud av exklusiva varor och tjänster direkt till fans av bolagets artister.   I projektet avhandlas grundläggande klasser och komponenter för utveckling av applikationer till Android och hur de bäst samverkar för att optimera användandet av resurser. Java användes huvudsakligen som programmeringsspråk. På serversidan utvecklades ett gränssnitt i PHP mot en MySQL databashanterare. / This study describes the development of an application for the operating system Android. We consider the developing of the application in relation to a good user experience and the managing of resources on a smaller device. A server with an appurtenant database communicates with the application as a client. Together they constitute a unity in a system designed to serve Current and Able, a managing and booking music agency in Sweden, who whishes to offer their supply of goods and services to the fans of their related artists.   In this project we deal with basic classes and components regarding development of Android applications and how they interact to achieve the best possible performance when using system resources. Java was the main programming language used. On the server side we developed a graphical user interface in PHP, targeting a MySQL database management system.

The goal of the thesis is to examine and assess actual portfolio of products on the market for server visualization and to compare performance of individual products with performance of the physical machine. The research and the assessment of the actual portfolio will be carried out with the focus on current trends in the area of server virtualization, reasons for realization, and important aspects for their successful implementation. The comparison will be carried out in areas of supported platforms, hardware emulation spectra, hardware limitations, licensing and prices. Further it will be performed comparison in the form of benchmark performance in areas of CPU, RAM, hard-drive throughput, and network throughput of most commonly used products for server virtualization.

The core of the work contains techniques and tools used by the attacker and protection against them. In following chapter there is a design and implementation of the security solution based on the previous theory. This solution is then tested against various threats, to verify its effectivity.

Server pro správu klíčů v prostředí vSphere 7.0 / Key Management Server for vSphere 7.0 Environment

The purpose of this work is to create a functional Key Management Server (KMS) with basic functionality for the vSphere 7.0 platform. It should communicate with vCenter and together provide the functionality to encrypt individual virtual machines. Commercial solutions in this area are very expensive and therefore the question arose whether the entire server can be implemented using freely available tools. Since vCenter uses the publicly available KMIP protocol to communicate with KMS, it turns out to be possible. The resulting implementation is based on the Ubuntu 20.04 operating system. The PyKMIP library for python 3.9 was used for the application logic and ETCD as storage. To connect the application and storage, a custom module was created. Bash scripts were created for whole installation and all of the necessary configuration. The overall result is fully functional and no flaws were found during testing. This work was done in cooperation with Master Internet, s.r.o.
