Avaliação do tamanho das lâminas palatinas no resultado do crescimento dos arcos dentários e relação interarcos na dentadura decídua ou mista precoce / Evaluation of the size of palatal shelves on the outcome of dental arch growth and interarch relationship in the deciduous or early mixed dentition.Carrara, Cleide Felicio de Carvalho 19 October 2011 (has links)
This retrospective study evaluated the correlation between the size of palatal shelves and the occlusal index in patients with complete unilateral cleft lip and palate. The study evaluated dental casts of 339 patients whose impressions were obtained at three different stages: before cheiloplasty (stage 1), before palatoplasty (stage 2) and in the complete deciduous or early mixed dentition (stage 3). Cheiloplasty was performed at 3 to 6 months of age by the Spina or Millard techniques and palatoplasty was performed at 9 to 18 months by the von Langenbeck or Furlow technique. Four surgeons performed the surgeries, yet each patient was submitted to lip and palate repair by the same surgeon. The palatal shelves were measured on scanned images of dental casts of stages 1 and 2, using the software Adobe Photoshop CS2. The occlusal index was evaluated on the dental casts of stage 3 using the index proposed by Atack et al. 1997, known as 5-year-old index. The dimension of palatal shelves compared between stages 1 and 2 evidenced a mean growth of 0.5 cm. The cleft width at the central portion presented a mean value of 1.13 in stage 1 and 0.69 in stage 2. The correlation between the size of palatal shelves and the occlusal index was analyzed by the Spearman correlation test. The results demonstrated significant negative correlation between the size of palatal shelves and the occlusal index only for patients operated by one of the surgeons and only for one surgical technique (Millard with Furlow). It is believed that other factors involved in the rehabilitation process may have greater influence on the occlusal index outcome than the size of palatal shelves. The surgeons skill in performing a certain technique and achieve his or her best outcomes seems to be a determining factor for the facial growth outcome of these patients.

OPTIMALIZACE SKLADOVÉHO SYSTÉMU U VYBRANÉHO SUBJEKTU / OPTIMIZE STORAGE SYSTEM IN SELECTED COMPANYCHUDÁČKOVÁ, Barbora January 2009 (has links)
The aim of this work is to analyze individual malt technologies according to their use for beverages storing in Elko limited warehouse, then suggesting optimal alternative in terms of time and cost demands of establishing and running the warehouse. The main factor when choosing optimum in-store technology and service means is the fact, that Elko company stores a high turnover ratio material, which is necessary to complete for almost every order. For this reason, the warehouse either has to have a room sufficiently big for completing orders, or an option of completing the orders right in the store core. Sub-objectives were to prepare the legislative framework of the work, to assess the processes in the enterprise, assess and propose improvements to the stock.

ODENSE Illuminating Storage : Matching user needs with smart textiles todevelop a multi-functional furniture concept / Odense lysande förvaring : Utveckling av ett multifunktionellt möbelkoncept sommatchar användarbehov med smarta textilierLindgren, Pierre, Thagaard Hansen, Jacob January 2022 (has links)
This report presents the master thesis project carried out by Pierre Lindgren & Jacob Thagaard Hansen at KTH Royal Institute of technology for IKEA of Sweden. The project aimed to explore the capabilities of so-called smart textiles, as well as to establish clear user needs which these can meet. Based on this, a design proposal for a furniture concept was developed, with the main purpose of offering the client IKEA clearer paths for further research and development on the chosen materials. The final design proposal, which was named ODENSE, was developed based on the needs of users who want to be more active in their homes. The design proposal meets their need to have easy access to their training equipment, by way of a multi-functional storage. The storage solution offers additional functionality in the form of light, thus occupying the same space and providing the same functions as a floor lamp and a small storage shelf. The design proposal potentially offers additional environmental benefits with regard to energy consumption and CO2 emission as it merges two products and functions. As the furniture concept combines the functions light and storage, it also has the opportunity to meet more needs than what it was initially developed for. Thus, Odense has great potential to be further developed to meet the needs of even more users. The project group found great benefit in the concurrent background research on smart textiles, as it enriched the user study significantly and opened up the minds of both the interviewees and the project group members to the future development opportunities.

Benthic habitats of the extended Faial Island shelf and their relationship to geologic, oceanographic and infralittoral biologic featuresTempera, Fernando January 2009 (has links)
This thesis presents a new template for multidisciplinary habitat mapping that combines the analyses of seafloor geomorphology, oceanographic proxies and modelling of associated biologic features. High resolution swath bathymetry of the Faial and western Pico shelves is used to present the first state-of-the-art geomorphologic assessment of submerged island shelves in the Azores. Solid seafloor structures are described in previously unreported detail together with associated volcanic, tectonic and erosion processes. The large sedimentary expanses identified in the area are also investigated and the large bedforms identified are discussed in view of new data on the local hydrodynamic conditions. Coarse-sediment zones of types hitherto unreported for volcanic island shelves are described using swath data and in situ imagery together with sub-bottom profiles and grainsize information. The hydrodynamic and geological processes producing these features are discussed. New oceanographic information extracted from satellite imagery is presented including yearly and seasonal sea surface temperature and chlorophyll-a concentration fields. These are used as proxies to understand the spatio-temporal variability of water temperature and primary productivity in the immediate island vicinity. The patterns observed are discussed, including onshore-offshore gradients and the prevalence of colder/more productive waters in the Faial-Pico passage and shelf areas in general. Furthermore, oceanographic proxies for swell exposure and tidal currents are derived from GIS analyses and shallow-water hydrographic modelling. Finally, environmental variables that potentially regulate the distribution of benthic organisms (seafloor nature, depth, slope, sea surface temperature, chlorophyll-a concentration, swell exposure and maximum tidal currents) are brought together and used to develop innovative statistical models of the distribution of six macroalgae taxa dominant in the infralittoral (articulated Corallinaceae, Codium elisabethae, Dictyota spp., Halopteris filicina, Padina pavonica and Zonaria tournefortii). Predictive distributions of these macroalgae are spatialized around Faial island using ordered logistic regression equations and raster fields of the explanatory variables found to be statistically significant. This new approach represents a potentially highly significant step forward in modelling benthic communities not only in the Azores but also in other oceanic island shelves where the management of benthic species and biotopes is critical to preserve ecosystem health.

Optimalizace organizace knihovního fondu Knihovny společenských věd T. G. Masaryka v Jinonicích (s důrazem na volný výběr dokumentů) / Optimalization of the organization of the T.G. Masaryk Library of Social Science's book collection (with emphasis on open access shelves)Slabochová, Jitka January 2011 (has links)
This master thesis deals with an issue of optimizing organization of the library shelves in the T.G. Masaryk Library of Social Sciences in Jinonice. The first part focuses on theory and defines basic concepts of organizing open access shelves. The next part provides a comparison of open access collections in selected libraries with particular emphasis on methods of books shelving. The core part describes rearrangement of the Library's collection on the basis of implementing new categorization scheme ordered in a subject-territory manner. The thesis also presents results of a survey asking whether this new arrangement enables more effective searching in the Library's open access collection.
