Hur arbetar utvecklare med användbarhet i praktiken? : Webbutvecklares syn på användbarhet och användarcentrerad design / How do software developers work with usability? : Software developers’ view on usability and user centred design.

Larsson, Rebecka, Tran, Tho January 2021 (has links)
Internet and digital products such as websites, are used daily in people's lives. To meet customer demands and get happy and satisfied customers, as well as reaching the company’s financial goals, companies need to look closer to the usability of their digital products. Throughout this study our goal was to investigate how software developers work with usability in their everyday job.  A qualitative research approach were used as research strategy for this study. The study was performed by conducting semi-structured interviews with six software developers. All interviews were recorded and then transcribed. The material was then analysed using the method qualitative content analysis to study reoccurring themes in the interviews, with the purpose to investigate how the software developers reason and work with usability and ultimately user-centred design.  The study led to the conclusion that usability is perceived as important in web development by all six participants interviewed. User centred methods such as internal testing and A/B-testing was often used by the participants in the development process. However, the most common method used by the participants was identified as being internal testing with the help of colleagues. We could identify that through the development process the participants reason and work with usability attributes in different ways and to a varying extent, with the purpose to create a user centred design for websites.

How Nordea’s web interface can be improved by user centered design

Melinder, Jenny, Lagerström, Ulrika January 2017 (has links)
The society is becoming more digital, this is affecting bank systems and customer relations. Nordea is working hard to keep up with the digitalization to sustain and satisfy the customer needs. Digital systems are decreasing the personal contact between the bank and its customers, how is this affecting the relation? This study examines customers vision as well as Nordea and their competitor’s way of working with digital mortgage. Nordea’s interface is evaluated as digitalizing allows website to be the bank’s public face and the first thing costumer meet when applying for digital bank errands. The study aims to develop improvements for Nordea’s design choices and interface. The inquiry has been carried out in the form of interviews and user tests. The result of the study accounts for the flaws in the system and the customers wish of improvement. A prototype with enhancements and suggestions of change for Nordea’s webpage is presented in the end of the report.

Jonsson, Jonas, Andersson, Simon January 2009 (has links)
<p>In this paper we explore the relations between context and feedback generated in three user-centered evaluations of a flash-based game. Whether it’s the social context, the physical context or the degree of intrusion from the evaluator, they all contribute to the quality of the feedback received. The selection of test subjects is a narrow process, which gives the above mentioned factors different meaning. Contextual factors have shown to influence the feedback given within both usability and user-experience. The difference in feedback given to user-experience however, was shown to be influenced mostly by the social context where the selection of test-subjects and degree of involvement from the evaluator are key factors to the subjects. The test-subjects might not express vital thoughts because they don’t want to criticize the designer or intrude on the design, nor do they want to appear stupid when something is not understood.</p>

Ternblad, Eva-Maria January 2013 (has links)

Lundgren, Jens January 2008 (has links)

Celander Guss, Jonas January 2011 (has links)
This thesis consists of the design of a user interface for the website whatismykidplaying.com. The design of the user interface was meant to increase usability for the target-group, and was tested by users in a think-aloud test. The users evaluated the usability and their feedback was evaluated and the results were used to produce suggestions for improvements in the user interface, some of which were implemented. The basis for the study is the steps in user-centered-design, analysis - design - evaluation - feedback, and one cycle has been carried out. To enhance usability in the user interface, different rules and guidelines regarding how to design for usability were used for the design. How well these rules played together, in this design, was evaluated in the think-aloud test. The thesis presents and analyses how the users experienced the first design of the user interface and which parts had worked well and those that didn't, from the usability point of view.

Axelsson, Amanda, Karlsson, Lova January 2017 (has links)
This report describes the process of developing a website prototype with a focus on User Experience and Information Architecture. The study has been undertaken on behalf of a relatively small interiordesign company, whose business will eventually be transferred from selling products and services in both their physical store and on their website, to selling only on the web. The focus of the study was to investigate the target audience's information and experience needs when visiting the website, which was taken into account in the process of developing a user-centered website prototype. While the maingoal was to create a user-centered website prototype that aimed to promote positive user experiences, another objective was to develop a website that can also maintain the company's corporate identity. The future users of the website were involved during the design process. A semi-structured interview was conducted followed by two user tests, one on the the existing website and one on the produced prototype. Participants were asked to perform tasks while they gave commentary about their reactions and perceptions. The results from the user test show that there is a significant connection between the audience’s experience and their information needs. This in turn also relates to how the target groupexperiences the corporate identity. The results confirm that structure, content and a esthetics aret hree aspects that are inherently linked and important to consider.

The ceramist and the web : Development of a website prototype for a small B2C e-commerce business

Karlsson, Helena January 2016 (has links)
This report describes the process of developing and evaluating a prototype for a user friendly, experience based B2C (business to consumer) e-commerce business for a small company that manufactures and sells ceramic art handicrafts. The prototype was developed from scratch since the ceramist did not have a website prior to this project. This project adopted a user-centred approach which means that the needs of the future users of the website was considered throughout the entire project. Another goal was that the website should be exciting, creative and useable. Lastly, the website should be able to mediate the unique point of view of the artist. This project was inspired by the four principles of interaction design. The future users of the website was involved during the initial phase of the project through interviews and also during contextual inquiry sessions to evaluate the prototype. The initial phase revealed that the users needed a website that was easy to navigate, that the website should be aesthetically pleasing and that the content of the website had to be easy to access. Based on the needs that was established in the initial phase a prototype was built. The evaluation of the prototype revealed issues with the main navigation, and that the user experience didn’t meet the goal set by the stakeholder. This led to an iteration of the design process which resulted in a new proposed design with a corrected navigation and a more interesting layout for a more exciting user experience.
