Niedermaierová, Tereza January 2020 (has links)
Word forming process of clipping and its presentation and comprehension in French textbooks at B1 level This diploma thesis focuses on the word formation process of clipping and its presentation and seizing in French textbooks at the B1 level. The theoretical part of the work aims to describe the clipping in the context of other word forming processes and to provide basic information about this process based on the study of professional publications. This part of the work defines clipping and presents the basic typology (apocope and apheresis). Based on specific examples, the thesis describes the morphological and phonetic attributes of clipping, and also mentions specific forms of words associated with this process, such as lexical amalgams. In addition, the theoretical part mentions the words classes usually affected by clipping, the question of grammatical categories or the concept of clipping in the Czech language. The aim of the practical part is to analyse the occurence of the process of clipping in teaching at high schools, using three contemporary French textbooks at the B1 level according to CEFR. The presence or absence of the clipping process in the teaching is also analysed via questionnaire research in selected years of high school. The thesis is based on the assumption that the...

Slovotvorné procesy v současném anglickém slangu / Word-Formation Processes in Contemporary English Slang

Libertin, Daniel January 2011 (has links)
The presented study focuses on the processes involved in the formation of words in contemporary English slang. The aim of the study is to determine which patterns of word building are the most frequent, also compared to the general word stock of contemporary English, based on the analysis of a representative sample of contemporary slang expressions. In addition, the study attempts to determine if there are any phenomena that have been given little or no attention so far. The study consists of two parts. The theoretical part describes the phenomena that are relevant to the scope of the research and the study in general. The first section of the theoretical part includes a description of slang, also pointing out the differences in the treatment of slang between the English-speaking and Czech linguistic tradition. The second section contains a description of the source of the data used in the research, namely, the open Internet repository of slang expressions Urban Dictionary, which is one of the most widely used slang dictionaries on the Internet. The third section provides an overview of word- formation processes that are productive in contemporary English and relevant to the source material of slang lexemes. Sociolingvistická perspektiva bilingvních komunit v Mexiku: případ etnika Rarámuri / Sociolinguistic perspective of bilingual communities in Mexico: the case of the ethnic group Rarámuri

Sosíková, Tereza January 2016 (has links)
The thesis is based on an argument that the minority language Rarámuri, as well as other indigenous languages of Mexico, is found in unequal position to the Spanish language, coinciding with the indigenous communities' socioeconomic conditions in a comparison to the central majority of the Spanish-speaking population. The indigenous mother tongue is often percieved by its speakers as an obstacle for achieving a better socioeconomic situation and experiencing the modernized lifestyle of the majority. Often, it is one of the first cultural attributes that is being abandoned. The speakers of minority languages are also an object of the state's educational policies that are presented as supportive for vernacular cultures and languages, however they have mostly opposite effect, which reveals the fact their essential intention is an assimilation. In this study I focus on three aspects of this sociolinguistic issue: firstly, the general approach and educational politics of Mexican State in regard of indigenous population in the twentieth century. Secondly, the description of main extralinguistic factors that condition vitality of a language, in this case it is the Rarámuri language. And thirdly, a field work research of language situation in selected communities with different meassures of bilingualism....

Sociolinguistic and Crosslinguistic Aspects of the Acquisition of English by Lithuanian University Students / Sociolingvistiniai ir tarpkalbiniai lietuvių studentų anglų kalbos įsisavinimo aspektai

Braun, Algis Prekeris 28 December 2009 (has links)
This dissertation combines psycholinguistic, sociolinguistic and cognitive linguistic approaches to study the language production phenomenon of crosslinguistic influence (CLI). Modern psycholinguistics has taken an active interest in language production studies, offering a particularly influential model of speech production that is examined in detail. And yet, as many researchers have argued, language data alone are insufficient to paint an accurate portrait of a given speaker’s language use. Whether mono- or multilingual, a speaker’s system of language(s) is itself a sub-system of the language system of the speaker’s family, community, culture, etc. At the same time, recent cognitive linguistic advances in the study of conceptual blending and construction grammar offer unique insights into the structure of the lexicon and even concepts themselves. This dissertation examines the speech production of multilinguals whose English language system has been acquired but is still developing. Such a system is dynamic and subject to unpredictable dynamic effects, here grouped under the general rubric of CLI. The psycholinguistic aspects of this study are concerned with establishing the psychology of students’ language use. The sociolinguistic aspect addresses the need to research the sociocultural background within which the English language system has been acquired. The cognitive linguistic aspects allow in-depth insights into the cognitive and conceptual mechanisms underlying the...

Skuodo apylinkių šnektos sociolingvistiniu aspektu / Sub-dialects of Skuodas District in Sociolinguistic Perspective

Vyniautaitė, Simona 22 August 2013 (has links)
The Bachelor's paper examines the sub-dialects of Skuodas District - Vižančiai, Kerviai, Šarkė, Luknės - in sociolinguistic perspective based on the obtained questionnaire data. The main analysed areas are the use of language, approach to the language use, and ethnic and dialectal self-consciousness. We have described the phonetic features characteristic of the sub-dialects from the records and transcribed cohesive texts of the sub-dialects. 28 informants of different generations: younger, middle, senior were interviewed and recorded. The research showed that the dialectal language prevailed in communication with family, friends, neighbours, animals, as well as when thinking, counting. The Lithuanian standard language is perceived as more appropriate for speaking in the media and for the written language. Both speech versions are proper for singing.

Používání diskurzivního ukazatele 'che' v rioplatenské španělštině: sociolingvistické zaměření. / The use of the discourse marker 'che' in Rioplatense Spanish: a sociolinguistic approach.

ŠMÍDOVÁ, Markéta January 2014 (has links)
The core of the present master's thesis is a sociolinguistic analysis of the conversational marker 'che' in Rioplatense Spanish. Initially, the history and concept of conversation analysis are presented. The process of grammaticalization and the classification of pragmatic markers are also described. Secondly, the author defines sociolinguistics and, on the basis of William Labov's work, explains methodological problems related to collecting real language data. The terms Rioplatense Spanish and 'porte?o' are widely described as well. Further, 'che' is investigated theoretically as a case of interjection that resulted in a conversational particle. The proper sociolinguistic investigation is based on three methods: introspection, qualitative and quantitative analysis. Functions of 'che', as well as its occurence according to different social factores are studied in this work.

Analýza a porovnání dialogických a jazykových aspektů v interakcích youtuberů a raperů prostřednictvím zveřejňování hudební/audiovizuální tvorby / Dialogical and linguistic aspects of the interactions of YouTubers and rappers in the publication of musical/audiovisual creative material

Novotný, Tomáš January 2018 (has links)
This paper aims to introduce a concept called digital dialogical network. This concept is inspired by a similar concept called medial dialogical network, which was elaborated in past sociolingustic research. Whereas the concept of medial dialogical network is used to describe dialogical interactions, which may take place in a sequence of published media contributions, the concept of digital dialogical network aims to describe similar interactions which may take place in a series of language contributions published on the internet. Furthermore, this paper shows some language behaviour similarities between rappers and youtubers. Those are also social groups, language of which has been used as a primary language data source.
