Od výtvarné kritiky k výtvarné publicistice? Psaní o výtvarném umění po roce 1989 / From art criticism to art journalism? Czech arts writing after 1989

Sládková, Hana January 2016 (has links)
The purpose of the disertation From Art Criticism to Art Journalism? Czech Arts Writing after 1989 is to find out how did the Czech politics and society transformation influence the character of art critique, particularly the visual arts reflection. How did the post-1989 art critique deal with the communist regime past and relics? How was the art critique influenced by the art development and by the changes in the media structure and functioning? Content analysis of selected periodicals texts from the 1990s enables us to follow if and how do the form and content of the visual arts reflecting texts mirror the communication, art and media character and structure development. The topic connects media and communication studies with visual studies and art theory. Hanka Sladkova

Tradiční technika vyšívání v současném umění / Traditional technique of embroidery in contemporary art

Tocar, Sofia January 2017 (has links)
The present master's thesis discusses the traditional textile technique of embroidery in the context of contemporary art and analyses the way in which this craft technique has evolved from its invention to this day. The historical development points at the inevitable link between this artistic technique and women's history in Western societies, where embroidery strove to maintain stereotypes on femininity. In the twentieth century, embroidery as well as other textile techniques take on a new, subversive quality which enables the beginning of a social dialogue through art. It becomes a part of the public space in the form of banners in demonstrations or craftivist interventions in city streets. It tries to free itself from stereotypes and become an accessible technique for which the artistic process is as important as the finished piece. The work of contemporary artists reveals the shifting position of textile art, which cannot be considered as a simple offshoot of artistic craftsmanship for it has turned into in an autonomous and widely used medium of expression in current artistic production.

Český a globální trh výtvarného umění (s akcentem na kritickou reflexi českých a zahraničních autorit) / Czech and global fine arts market (with an emphasis on a critical reflection of authorities from the Czech republic and abroad)

Dvořák, Olga January 2013 (has links)
The dissertation examines art as a very specific luxury commodity that is difficult to define and place on a market. The objectively given uncertainty of an art market does not seem to be consistent with the investment function of an artwork. The price of this product is unstable and non transparent and it is generally formed through a marketing tool - a commercial art fair. The main aim of this dissertation is to uncover the specifics of the fine art market. The secondary objective is to determine how emerging art from the Czech Republic is represented on a global scale. The research method included expert opinions from interviews as well as statistical processing of survey answers from several different professions. The main outcome of this research found out expert opinions from prominent art institutions around the world, and their awareness of Czech contemporary art. The beneficial factor of this research is the recommendation for Czech artists and commercial galleries to penetrate the global market. Beside the practical benefits there are additional benefits for science, as the information and research is taken from different fields, which is not so sufficiently monitored or presented as well in the Czech Republic. The focus on the pedagogical benefits are evident as the author has paid much attention to these issues for several years in the conext of regular lectures on the art of marketing at the University of Economics in Prague.

Francouzská bulvární komedie na českých divadlech a hledání překladatelských strategií / French boulevard comedy on Czech stage and searching of the translation strategy

Töröková, Sára January 2019 (has links)
The thesis is divided into two parts, one theoretical and one empirical. The first one presents origin and different perception of the boulevard comedy genre in France, Czech Republic, Germany, United Kingdom and USA. Afterwards, a brief characteristic of the boulevard comedy is presented in terms of content and subject matter. Four kinds of comedy are presented - comedy of manners, comedy of situation, comedy of intrigue and interactive comedy. The translatological analysis of the Czech translation of the French humorist Laurent Baffie's contemporary play Toc toc by the director and translator Jaromír Janeček constitutes the second main part of the thesis. The analysis is based on the theoretical studies of Jiří Levý and Jan Mukařovský, which are dealing with the translation of drama, and also on the theory of so-called Manipulation school of André Lefevere. Several problems have arised from the detailed analysis of the original text. The comparison of the translation and the original text is made on the ground of these problems. Subsequently, there is an evaluation of the translation. In some cases, a different solution is proposed. The work is supplemented by insights into the translation practice, which are drawn from personal interviews with translators and experts on drama.
