Derivação de valores críticos de elementos potencialmente tóxicos em solos e avaliação de risco ao ambiente e à saúde humana / Derivation of critical values of potentially toxics elements in soils and environmental risk assessment and human health

Alexys Giorgia Friol Boim 18 June 2014 (has links)
The intensive land use and uncontrolled disposal of toxic substances in the soil due to the increase of agricultural and industrial activities can promote the accumulation of potentially toxic elements (PTEs) mainly in the upper soil layers, which favors the uptake by plants and can pose unacceptable risks to humans health, mainly by intake of contaminated food. In Brazil, there are few studies regarding the accumulation and the species in which these elements are present in the soil solution and can be absorbed by several vegetable crops eaten raw by the population, i.e., there is an indirect exposure by ingestion of vegetables. The Bioconcentration Factor (BCF) is the ratio of the total concentration of PTE in plant and soil. BCF is used to estimate the metal accumulation in plants. This study was carried out taking the following objectives into account: (i) the comparison of results obtained in bibliographic references from humid tropics and temperate regions; (ii) to calculate the critical concentrations of Cu, Ni, Pb and Zn for both urban and rural scenarios of exposure, using both mathematical models for assessment risk to human health: CETESB and CSOIL spreadsheets; (iii) to evaluate the reactive, available and bioaccessible fractions of Ba, Cr, Cu, Ni, Pb and Zn in soils cultivated with vegetable crops in Sao Paulo states, Brazil; and (iv) to estimate the PTEs contents in the fractions by empiric functions from pseudototals concentrations and soil physical and chemical properties. The following fractions of vegetables consumed in contaminated areas have taken into account: 10% for the urban scenario and 25% for the rural scenario. The BCF was the main parameter evaluated in the calculation of the critical concentration of EPTs. For calculating the critical concentrations based on risk to human health, it is suggested that the BCF should be determined for each state/region, mainly considering the physical and chemical soil properties, and the type and species of plants. The empirical models were able to predict the relationship between the reactive and the pseudototal fractions of the PTEs, and this fraction depended on the soil properties and on their pseudototal contents. In the available fraction, 3% and 1 % of Ba and Zn contents, respectively, were available in the soil solution in relation to pseudototal levels, suggesting the poor potential for the mobility of these elements in the soil. Moreover, Ba (bioaccessible fraction) had great solubility in acidic environments, such as the low pH found in the stomach.

Business intelligence system developed to meet low-cost, high-flexibility business strategy

Chang, Ching-chang 18 July 2012 (has links)
The business environment nowadays becomes much more dynamically and tensely than the past driven by the trend of globalization and free trading. Therefore, any enterprise in the world has to face competition from everywhere in the world. Under such complicated business environment, it¡¦s dangerous to make decision based on past experience or instinct. If some key message is missed or not collected, a disaster caused by logical decision, but far away from the reality might just happen. In last couple decades, software providers launched DSS(Decision Support System), BI(Business Intelligence), ¡K, etc. based on current enterprise IT infrastructure like ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), MRPII(Manufacturing Resource Planning), ¡K, etc. to help enterprise for decision making. However, such systems are not popular in Taiwan, not to mention the successful stories. While I studied the lesson ¡§information technology and competitive advantage¡¨ conducted by Profession Kuo, I concluded from classmates¡¦ discussion that the root causes were as follows. 1. Most Taiwan manufacturers¡¦ strategy is to launch product at lower cost to allow them to win business via price war. Therefore, they are willing to invest tangible hardware, not intangible software. 2. The branches of international companies can¡¦t develop their own information system due to Corporate policy or security concern. Based on above mentioned, I started thinking if we could have a BI system that doesn¡¦t need to spend money, is easy to implement, and no need for Corporate approval. Such BI system could help management to retrieve effective and enough information for precise decision making. After evaluation, I think Microsoft Excel spreadsheet software is the most suitable solution. It¡¦s because almost all enterprises have it, it can contain 1M units of data in a file, and useful tools of macro, pivot table, sorting, filtering, VBA(Visual Basic for Application). Furthermore, the nature of spreadsheet is similar to database structure, so it can be easily integrated with database like SQL database, Microsoft Access. Thanks to Profession Kuo¡¦s coaching, I started doing research, and studied necessary tool like VBA, ¡K, etc. to warm up for this thesis. After months, I finally finish it, and I hope it can contribute to the ones that have similar problem with me.

Web-based spreadsheets and Business Intelligence : Combining a web-based spreadsheet with Pentahos Business Intelligence

El Harbiti, Deeb January 2017 (has links)
Business Intelligence is becoming more and more an essential element for a company’s planning, development and consistency. A company usually aims to predict and optimize the outcome of different decisions. In order to do that, it requires a tool that can perform scenario analysis or “what if” – analysis. These analyses can be performed with spreadsheets and today with the tools within business analysis being web-based, the purpose of the project is to combine a web-based spreadsheet with an analysis from a BI server. The BI server provides sample data. Should a combination be possible then a continuing goal would be to connect the BI server with a database and in that way provide the spreadsheet with data to perform “what if” – analysis. The results indicated that a combination between the web-based spreadsheet and the BI server was possible. However, a few alterations of the spreadsheet are still necessary in order for the combination to work as desired. Further developments of the product involve managing to adapt it to smartphones and tablets.

Real Estate Discounted Cash Flow Model Development and Design : The process of developing a new DCF model at a multinational real estate consultancy

Fetibegovic, Ahmed, Nilsson, Adam January 2011 (has links)
Due to increasing skill and awareness of overall functions in programs such as Excel, an increasing number of analysts at real estate firms and consultancies have started developing "desktop" versions of valuation models used for professional appraisal of property value. Due to personal preferences, differences in schools and professional backgrounds, these so called desktop models vary in quality, robustness, accuracy, design and user friendliness. Professional software suites are not suitable either, as they are expensive, hard to learn, hard to adapt to specific needs of the business, outdated design and need of additional IT resources. At a multinational Real Estate consultancy such as Jones Lang LaSalle, requirements on tools used for professional opinions on questions as important as property value, are rigorous. Therefore, decision was made to develop a new DCF model which would be closely monitored by management and have a prismatic approach meaning that the model would satisfy the needs of more than one division at Jones Lang LaSalle. When reviewing existing models and practices at the company, the result became a tailored DCF valuation model that was focused on increasing efficiency of appraisers at Jones Lang LaSalle. Aside from being robust and technically sophisticated, the result also suited the specific needs of Jones Lang LaSalle in terms of features and user interface. Development of the model involved several divisions to ensure that the needs were met for Research & Valuation, Capital Markets, Corporate Solutions and Asset Management at Jones Lang LaSalle.

Constraint-Based Patterns : An examination of an algorithmic composition method

Lilja, Robin January 2021 (has links)
This thesis examines the composition of three different musical works through the use of my constraint-based patterns. I have explored the patterns through spreadsheets and also SuperCollider: a software for algorithmic composition and audio synthesis. The aim is to find how the patterns can be used to reach clear contrasts while maintaining coherence in the music, as well as finding challenges and possibilities within the patterns, while exploring how evaluation of the artistic results can contribute to improved methods. While I see the main method as autoethnographical, with the core focus on composing, I have also used feedback from other composers, and through focus groups, as a way to collect data. Throughout this thesis I describe my process of constructing patterns and composing music, accompanied by my reasoning and relevant feedback. My results from analyzing feedback, score and patterns are that while some ways of using the patterns are well suited for achieving contrast and coherence, problems arose related to (among other things) musical form and predictability. Evaluation through feedback and interviews resulted in a better understanding of the patterns, and different workflows allowed for different viability in the evaluation. The most valuable insight is that the greater the amount of composition parameters which are controlled through constraint-based patterns, the simpler each individual composition parameter has to be in order to reach contrasting results that I find satisfying. My conclusion is that I can therefore design each individual composition parameter with high coherence to reach contrasting results when the composition parameters are applied on the same musical structure.
