Obraz domácích prací v televizní reklamě optikou genderu / The image of housework in television advertising through gender perspective

Pozníková, Veronika January 2021 (has links)
Stereotyping of male and female roles is currently the subject of many discussions in various spheres of society. Stereotypes are widely used in the advertising industry, where they aim to make it easier for potential customers to identify with the product and support the company's image. Choosing the right gender for a particular advertisement depends on the nature of the product as well as on the target group. Some product groups are more gender- differentiated than others. An exemplary group are household cleaning products. Related advertisements traditionally show female characters more often than male characters. However, the time when cleaning products were promoted exclusively by women is over and nowadays, men appear in these kinds of advertisements too. The growing number of characters who are portrayed in non-stereotyped gender roles in television commercials began to be discussed more prominently as early as the end of the 20th century. From a sociological point of view, the gender role is a set of socially defined behavioral norms, reflecting what society usually expects from a man or a woman. For this reason, the portrayal of characters in inverse gender positions that is a step in the right direction in the pursuit of greater gender equality in society. The aim of this work is to find out...

Genderová analýza vybraných čítanek pro 1. a 2. ročník ZŠ / A Gender Analysis of Reading-Books for Pupils of 1st and 2nd Years of Primary Schools

Němcová, Marcela January 2012 (has links)
The diploma thesis A Gender Analysis of Reading-Books for Pupils of 1st and 2nd Years of Primary Schools focuses on the topic of gender in education. Specifically, it examines the ways in which female and male characters are represented in the texts and illustrations in textbooks and considers whether these are stereotypical views of gender and whether these are gender-sensitive views. The research consists of a quantitative content analysis of three reading-books and of qualitative interpretation of their gender correctness and sensitivity. It is set in a framework of theoretical foundations of psychology, sociology, feminist theory and gender studies. The work is based on the premise that the school as an institution plays an important role in gender socialization of children and the thesis therefore aims to find out whether and eventually how these reading- books promote gender equality. Key words: gender, gender stereotypes, gender system, socialization, school, textbooks

Češi hrají balkán: výzkum stereotypů českých hudebníků / The Czechs play the "balkan music": research on stereotypes of Czech musicians

Libánská, Alena January 2012 (has links)
The thesis deals with the Czech community of musicians who play so-called "Balkan music". The research deals with those coming originally from the Czech Republic and who do not have any obvious links to the Balkan peninsula. The emphasis is put on their stereotypical notion about Balkans. The content of the music works they produce and the way how are performed are considered as the key moments how the musicians express their feelings and visions about Balkan. The most of the thesis originates from my personal experience with the "Balkan music" in the Czech environment and from my participation in the Džezvica band. This band is also utilized as an reference model of the "western idea"about the Balkan. The work comprises of both theoretical part denoting the stereotypization and balkanism and the field research carried out during years 2010-2012 in Prague. As an integral part follows the analysis of semi-structured interviews with selected musicians on the (general) topic "balkan music". As the main outcome, the thesis captures and analyses whether we can evaluate the "czech balkanism" with the balkanism and if and how are such musicians' concepts being made.

Analýza mocenských vztahů a genderových stereotypů v dílech Gabriely Preissové - Gazdina roba a Její pastorkyňa / Analysis of power relations and gender stereotypes in writings of Gabriela Preissová - Gazdina roba and Její pastorkyňa

Konopáčová, Zuzana January 2012 (has links)
This thesis discusses the conception of power relations and gender stereotypes in Gabriela Preissová's literary masterpiece - Gazdina roba and Její pastorkyňa. The analysis employs the concept of power as an analytical categoryand draws on Michel Foucault's theories. The thesis further examines the discourse in which the main characters find themselves. The analysis of male and female characters focuses on the position of the main character and also on the ways in which female protagonists become influenced by their male partners. Selected characters are also interpreted by using Foucault's concept of bio-power and a special attention is paid to the subject type of homo oeconomicus. The thesis attempts to answer the question, whether the discussed literary characters are "disciplined bodies", or whether they embody a subversion of the (gender) system. Part of the text is also dedicated to the comparison of male and female characters in both Preissová's works as to whether they do or do not comly with traditional images of "masculinity" and "femininity" (and related gender stereotypes), or how many of them represent resisting or (in the case of some female protagonists) collaborating entities. Possible interpretations of the characters' inner drive in this regard are also offered. Key words:...

Komparace způsobů genderové socializace na stránkách časopisu Sluníčko v letech 1977 a 2012 / A Comparison of Approaches to Gender Socialization in the Sluníčko Magazine in 1977 and 2012

Vyskočil, Jan January 2016 (has links)
The diploma thesis Comparison of methods of gender socialization in the Sluníčko magazine in 1977 and 2012, focuses on the topic of gender in printed magazine for the youngest children. Specifically, it examines and compares the methods for portraying female and male characters in the text and illustrations in the Sluníčko magazine in 1977 and 2012. It analyzes the ways gender is viewed and considers its impact on gender socialization of children. The research consists of a quantitative part, which aims to evaluate the frequency of the representation and of qualitative part, which aims at content analysis and interpretation of the meanings hidden in the text and illustrations. For the analysing texts and illustrations were selected of two areas, family relationships in the private sector and relationships at work in the public sphere. At the theoretical level were used sociology, psychology, feminist theory and gender studies theories. The way-out of this research is the assumption that aesthetic and educational ambitions of Sluníčko magazine combined with aging readership of this magazine is a important element of gender socialization of children and, therefore, the aim is to find out whether the gender socialization is implemented in a gender-sensitive way.

Ontogenetic Quinpirole Treatments Fail to Prime for D2 Agonist-Enhancement of Locomotor Activity in 6-Hydroxydopamine-Lesioned Rats

Brus, Ryszard, Kostrzewa, Richard M., Nowak, Preemyslaw, Perry, Ken W., Kostrzewa, John P. 01 December 2003 (has links)
Repeated treatments with a dopamine (DA) D2 receptor agonist result in the induction of DA D2 receptor supersensitivity, as evidenced by enhanced behavioral responses to subsequent D2 agonist treatments - a phenomenon known as priming of receptors. Priming of D2 receptors has been well-studied in otherwise intact (non-lesioned) rats. In contrast to D2 priming, repeated treatments with a DA D1 agonist are unable to prime D1 receptors unless nigrostriatal DA fibers are largely destroyed in early postnatal ontogeny. In order to determine if D2 receptors could be primed in rats in which nigrostriatal DA fibers were largely destroyed in early postnatal ontogeny, rats were (a) lesioned at 3 days after birth with 6-hydroxydopamine (67 μg in each lateral ventricle; desipramine, 20 mg/kg IP, 1 h; 6-OHDA), (b) treated daily for the first 28 days after birth with the D2 agonist quinpirole HCl (3.0 mg/kg IP), and (c) observed in adulthood for both quinpirole-induced and SKF 38393- (D1 agonist-) induced locomotor activity and stereotyped activities. In 6-OHDA-lesioned rats in which endogenous striatal DA was reduced by 99%, quinpirole did not produce enhanced locomotor or stereotyped activities. However, SKF 38393 produced increased locomotor and stereotyped activities even after the first dose of SKF 38393. These findings demonstrate that D2 receptors are not primed by ontogenetic quinpirole treatments of neonatally 6-OHDA-lesioned rats, although D2 agonist treatments do at least partially prime D1 receptors in 6-OHDA-lesioned rats.

Schizopsychotic Symptom-Profiles and Biomarkers: Beacons in Diagnostic Labyrinths

Palomo, Tomas, Kostrzewa, Richard M., Beninger, Richard J., Archer, Trevor 01 June 2008 (has links)
Several avenues of investigation through which the 'labyrinths' of schizopsychotic diagnosis may be examined, are offered by the consideration of the 'beacons' of symptom-profiles and biomarkers. Neurodevelopmental issues and risk assessment, neurocognitive factors of predictive necessity, supersensitivity in neurotransmitter systems, the implications of prodromal expressions of the disorder, functional dysconnectivity arising from prefrontal to diverse regional patterns and circuits with a neurodevelopmental origin, and heritable gene characteristics are viewed against the backdrop of the schizophrenia spectrum disorders. The associations between adolescent-adult use of cannabis, on the one hand, and, alternatively, the prevalence of chromosomal abnormalities, e.g., GRIK4 and NPAS3, and mental retardation, on the other hand, with the symptom-profiles of schizopsychosis provide further evidence of emerging biomarkers of biological inheritance factors. The involvement of dopamine D1 and D2 receptors, particularly in prefrontal region, with regard to functional integrity of cognitive systems is reviewed. It would appear that considerations of these disorders imply that one essential hub around which much of the neuropathology revolves may be observed in the various expressions of the cognitive and structural insufficiency.

Kolokace a reprezentace genderu v cyklu Letopisy Narnie / Collocations and representation of gender in the Chronicles of Narnia series

Ocelík, Dana January 2021 (has links)
This diploma thesis deals with the representation of gender in children's literature, namely in the book series The Chronicles of Narnia. The theoretical part discusses gender linguistics, characterizes children's literature and discusses the issue of gender stereotypes in this type of literature. The analytical part of the paper focuses on the collocations of proper names of the four main characters (two female, two male) and the pronouns he/she/I referring to them. Attention will also be paid to common names related to gender: girl(s), boy(s). The material consists of 300 examples. The thesis examines both left-side and right-side collocates (mainly adjectives and verbs) of these nouns and pronouns and their semantics. The thesis determines the semantic types of collocates the words under study are associated with and examines the differences between the depiction of male and female characters, i.e. how the characters are described, what characteristics are typically attributed to them, what actions they perform and so on. The thesis provides an analysis of gender-related collocational patterns in children's literature and hopes to contribute to a greater understanding of gender-based language in general, as well as possible stereotyping effects on the child reader. keywords: gender, gender...

Vliv fitness influencerů na self body image - fenomén fitness kultury u mladých žen a mužů / Fitness influencers on Instagram and their impact on the self body image - the phenomenon of fitness culture among young women and men

Skaunicová, Dunia January 2022 (has links)
This diploma thesis titled: 'The influence of fitness influencers on the self-body image - the phenomenon of fitness culture amongst young women and men' deals with the phenomenon of fitness influencers on Instagram, whose content may affect its users' body image perception, self-perception, and self-conception. This thesis aims to theoretically introduce Instagram influencer marketing in the fitness field, with the focus on body image perception amongst their users and the evaluation of its psychological aspects. The sample contains people who actively exercise in the 20-30 age range. The analysis of in-depth interviews with 12 respondents was chosen as the methodology. After data collection, the interviews are subsequently thematically analysed using open coding and a categorical system. This thesis aims to find out why individual Instagram users consume selected content and how they perceive it. Perception is linked to gender optics, which examines whether users monitor and perceive content concerning gender influencers and, if so, why? Gender comparison compares different motives for tracking profiles and simultaneously reveals overlap in the perception of profiles by users within gender stereotypes. Another goal of this thesis is to present the results of the topics which showed the importance...
