Quando a rua vira praia - mesas de ruas. Apropriação do espaço público no bairro da Vila Madalena em São Paulo / When the streets turns beach - Tables` street

Francisco Gonçalves da Cunha Saes 16 April 2014 (has links)
This work has as object the tables on the sidewalks in the streets of the neighborhood located at West of the city of São Paulo and the relations of coexistence and conflict in the space appropriation, inherent in the urban experience process, making the dimension of living experience and the ongoing changes in the location. Part on the assumption that there is only a street while various socialization process are promoted, otherwise the street becomes one and only one route of urban transport, or a simple place of passage. It investigates the transformation constrains present in the neighborhood\' streets and its impacts on the daily lives of city dwellers and theirs living experiences, addressing the adverse local conditions, which are revealed at least uncomfortable due to noise, traffic and the large influx of people to the site, in search of pleasure in the name of culture and tourism. It lists current issues in conflicts in the setting of public spaces in the contemporary city and everyday life in times of local change in face of real estate speculation.

An analysis of population lifetime data of South Australia 1841-1996

Leppard, P. (Phillip I.) January 2002 (has links) (PDF)
Accompanying CD-ROM is part of the appendix. It includes computer programs, data files and output tables. Bibliography: leaves 166-170. The average length of life from birth until death in a human population is a single statistic that is often used to characterise the prevailing health status of the population. It is one of many statistics calculated from an analysis that, for each age, combines the number of deaths with the size of the population in which these deaths occur. This analysis is generally known as life table analysis. Life tables have only occasionally been produced specifically for South Australia, although the necessary data has been routinely collected since 1842. In this thesis, the mortality pattern of South Australia over the period of 150 years of European settlement is quantified by using life table analyses and estimates of average length of life. System requirements for accompanying CD-ROM: IBM compatible computer. Other requirements: Winzip. Adobe Acrobat Reader is required to view or print the PDF files.

Fundamental Scheme for Train Scheduling

Fukumori, Koji 01 September 1980 (has links)
Traditionally, the compilation of long-term timetables for high-density rail service with multiple classes of trains on the same track is a job for expert people, not computers. We propose an algorithm that uses the range-constriction search technique to schedule the timing and pass-through relations of trains smoothly and efficiently. The program determines how the timing of certain trains constrains the timing of others, finds possible time regions and pass-through relations and then evaluates the efficiency of train movement for each pass-through relation.

Componentization of IP and Netfilter Architecture in Linux Kernel

Lin, Jiun-nan 25 July 2007 (has links)
In this thesis, we exercised the componentization technique to componentize the Netfilter architecture in Linux network system. Netfilter is a software architecture for filtering packets. System administrator can register packet-matching rules and target handling function into the system. Netfilter matches packets according to the rules and processes them by the corresponding target functions. By componentizing the architecture, we can improve the elasticity and the reusability of Netfilter. Hot-swapping is an important procedure in componentized software system. In this study, we implemented hot-swapping based on the work developed by Fan[1]. It stores the relocation information of exporting symbols into the module symbol table. With this information, we are able to dynamically change the caller-callee relationship of modular components at run time. In addition, we extend their work to allow the same modular component to be loaded into Linux kernel for more than once so that the same component can be replicated in the system. We started with decomposing all the ¡§hook¡¨ functions into smaller and simpler components and then for each component, we added in-ports and out-ports and registered its own iptables, and we fixed the limitation of only one instance of a module allowed in kernel and broke the hard rule in iptables. As a result, after Netfilter componentization, we are able to illustrate new configurations that cannot be done in the original architecture, and the system becomes further compact with only necessary components loaded in the system. This reflects in slight performance improvement in our experiments, which is not usually seen in other frameworks due to componentization overhead.

Architecture multi-agent pour la gestion d'objets tangibles et virtuels sur Table Interactive

Lebrun, Yoann 08 March 2012 (has links) (PDF)

Improving digital object handoff using the space above the table

2013 August 1900 (has links)
Object handoff – that is, passing an object or tool to another person – is an extremely common activity in collaborative tabletop work. On digital tables, object handoff is typically accomplished by sliding the object on the table surface – but surface-only interactions can be slow and error-prone, particularly when there are multiple people carrying out multiple handoffs. An alternative approach is to use the space above the table for object handoff; this provides more room to move, but requires above-surface tracking. I developed two above-the-surface handoff techniques that use simple and inexpensive tracking: a force-field technique that uses a depth camera to determine hand proximity, and an electromagnetic-field technique called ElectroTouch that provides positive indication when people touch hands over the table. These new techniques were compared to three kinds of existing surface-only handoff (sliding, flicking, and surface-only Force-Fields). The study showed that the above-surface techniques significantly improved both speed and accuracy, and that ElectroTouch was the best technique overall. Also, as object interactions are moved above-the-surface of the table the representation of off-table objects becomes crucial. To address the issue of off-table digital object representation several object designs were created an evaluated. The result of the present research provides designers with practical new techniques for substantially increasing performance and interaction richness on digital tables.

Spatial and temporal mapping of shallow groundwater tables in the riparian zone of a Swedish headwater catchment / Kartering av ytliga grundvattennivåer inom den bäcknära zonen i ett svenskt avrinningsområde

Hellstrand, Eva January 2012 (has links)
Understanding the hydrology of the riparian zone in a catchment can be an important prerequisite for determining solute loads and concentrations in streams. The riparian zone is the transition zone between surrounding landscape and an open water stream. This study focuses on the spatial and temporal variations of shallow groundwater levels in a forested headwater catchment in the Bergslagen area of central Sweden. Three snapshot campaigns were conducted during dry, humid and wet conditions to map the spatial variability of the groundwater levels. Piezometers giving the total hydraulic head were placed in the riparian zone along a stream network consisting of three first order streams and one second order stream. To asses temporal variations five groundwater wells were installed with automatic loggers to record continuous data during the wet period. Historical streamflow records from a permanent field station were collected and related to the groundwater levels in order to assess the relationship between groundwater levels and streamflow. Additionally a landscape analysis using GIS methods was conducted in order to identify potential drivers of spatial variation of groundwater levels in the riparian zone. The results showed that the slope could partially explain the observed spatial variability of riparian groundwater levels. The results from the spatially distributed piezometers and the continuously monitored groundwater wells with loggers were contradicting. Where the piezometers showed increasing depth to the groundwater table with increasing slope the loggers indicated the opposite. However, because the piezometers outnumbered the loggers the piezometer results can be considered more representative of the spatial variation of groundwater levels. There could be no general result concluded on the catchment scale but when looking at specific subcatchments it could be found that the variations in the riparian groundwater levels could be better explained where the stream had a more distinct channel. This indicates the importance to evaluate not only slope but the profile curvature as well for groundwater predictions.
