The main aim of this study is to look for trends in the instructional technology field in Turkey and to visualize general tendencies in the field in research topics, research types, and methodologies. Content analysis research design was used in this study. In this study, the unit of analysis was MS theses and PhD. theses published in instructional technology departments in Turkey, and the researcher aimed to analyze all of the population. Hence, 215 MS theses and 32 PhD. theses were analyzed in this study. The data were categorized according to characteristics of the MS theses and PhD. theses (author, university, advisor, and publication year), research topics, research methods, sample type, sample size, data collection methods and research settings. These categories were statistically analyzed. In these statistical analyses both frequencies of these categories and fluctuations of these categories in time were analyzed. The findings of the study indicated that most of the MS theses were published in the Middle East Technical University and most of the dissertations were published in Ankara University. In addition to this, most of the MS theses and PhD. theses used quantitative research methods, and experimental studies were the most popular type. Not surprisingly, the study results revealed that convenient sampling was the most preferred sampling method and most of the studies used 31 &ndash / 100 subjects in their samples. Moreover, questionnaires, aptitude tests and interview schedules were the most common data gathering instruments used, and higher education was the most preferred research environment for the studies analyzed. Finally, most of the MS theses and PhD. theses focused on delivery system media formats, comparison studies and learner variables.

Context: Current unsustainable practices have resulted in the depletion of natural resources and a prevailing material scarcity. Urban Mining has emerged in this context and suggests the “mining” of cities or other sources in urban areas to retrieve valuable resources. It raises the topic of how urban mining as a market segment of the construction industry is like today and in the future.  Objective: The thesis sets out to study what firms in the urban mining market segment desires in terms of needs and priorities. Furthermore, what could be prioritized in the future (2030), what future scenarios could be expected and what implications these can have on organizations within the segment and on the construction industry.  Method: A foresight methodology was applied as a framework for the research design. Interview with representatives from 10 firms, including observations of their operations, resulted in a number of mutual needs shared across the urban mining segment. These were prioritized in relative importance based on a questionnaire of 67 respondents representing 44 different firms in Sweden. A combination of these studies and a review of technology trends further enabled the extrapolation of future scenarios.  Results: The findings shows that firms within the urban mining market segment prioritizes and emphasizes needs related concerns in optimization, cost control, safety, environmental and social care today. Needs related to safety, environmental and social care are indicated to remain top prioritized as a result of the future market circumstances. A holistic and lifecycle approach in urban mining practices was deemed of low priority today but was indicated to grow significantly in relative importance in the future.  Conclusion: Technology, urbanization and globalization indicates stricter and more competitive market circumstances in the future. Especially related to safety, lifecycle consideration, environmental, and social care. The research suggests that firms concerned and those operating within the urban mining segment may need to undergo transformational changes in their organization to meet what the market segment expects in the future. Moreover, the findings opens up the possibility for actors and stakeholders concerned with the construction industry to proactively go into a desired future by knowing how the future market could unfold. / Stanford University, ME310: Urban Mining

This exploratory and descriptive study examines research articles published in ten of the top journals in the broad area of educational technology during the last 20 years: 1) Educational Technology Research and Development (ETR&D); 2) Instructional Science; 3) Journal of the Learning Sciences; 4) TechTrends; 5) Educational Technology: The Magazine for Managers of Change in Education; 6) Journal of Educational Technology & Society; 7) Computers and Education; 8) British Journal of Educational Technology (BJET); 9) Journal of Educational Computing Research; and 10) Journal of Research on Technology in Education. To discover research trends in the articles published from 1995-2014, abstracts from all contributing articles published in those ten prominent journals were analyzed to extract a latent semantic space of broad research areas, top authors, and top-cited publications. Concepts that have emerged, grown, or diminished in the field were noted in order to identify the most dominant in the last two decades; and the most frequent contributors to each journal as well as those who contributed to more than one of the journals studied were identified.

This report describes the master’s thesis conducted by Sunny Ahmed and Linnéa Olssonat KTH Royal Institute of Technology for the client Zound Industries. By exploringemerging technologies and user needs, the project members developed a design proposal forheadphones for active users that can be released in three to five years’ time.Urbanears Ugglan is the headphone solution that allows you to take control of your physicalactivities and experience true freedom. It consists of two parts: true wireless earphonesand a wearable wrist accessory that stores and charges the earphones on the go, while alsofunctioning as a fitness tracker.Aside from the first purpose of creating the design proposal, the second purpose of the thesiswas to investigate the impact of involving the intended user in the design process duringproduct development when adopting a user-centered design approach.Different methods were used to gather relevant information. Both market research and atechnical trend analysis were done as background research, and complemented the userstudies. The insights discovered from these phases were used to generate concepts, fromwhich one was selected for further development after discussion with the client company. Thisconcept evolved into the final design proposal, Urbanears Ugglan.The project team found a positive impact from using user-centered design and involving theuser in several stages of the project. Including the intended user in the development led toa better understanding of their needs and values, which in turn allowed the project team toquickly verify the potential of product ideas. / I denna rapport beskrivs examensarbetet utfört av Sunny Ahmed och Linnéa Olsson påKungliga Tekniska Högskolan för kunden Zound Industries. Den består av två delar: trådlösa hörlurar och ett armband som kanförvara och ladda hörlurarna samt fungera som en fitness tracker.Utöver det första syftet att ta fram designförslaget var examensarbetets andra syfte att utforskainverkan av att involvera den avsedda användaren i designprocessen under produktutveckling.Olika metoder användes för att samla relevant information. Både en marknadsundersökningoch en analys av tekniktrender utfördes och tillämpades som underlag till användarstudier.Insikterna som upptäcktes från dessa faser användes för att generera koncept, varav ett valdesut tillsammans med kundföretaget för vidareutveckling. Konceptet kom sedan till att bli detslutliga designförslaget Urbanears Ugglan.Projektgruppen fann positiv inverkan av att tillämpa användarcentrerad design och attinvolvera användaren i flera delar av projektet. Att inkludera den avsedda användaren idesignprocessen ledde till en bättre förståelse av deras behov och värderingar, vilket i sin turgjorde det möjligt för projektgruppen att snabbt verifiera om idéer och koncept var önskvärda.
