O discurso pedagógico na modernidade: uma escuta psicanalítica do emprego de slogans e jargões no contexto escolar / The pedagogical discourse of modernity: a psychoanalytic listening of the use of slogans and jargon in the school context

Siqueira, Flávia Zanni 14 September 2012 (has links)
With this research, we propose an examination of the pedagogical discourse and linguistic features of their constituents (slogans and jargon), since its formulation by the Department of Education of São Paulo, to the attribution of practical sense in a public school, as made by their educational staff(teachers, coordinators, directors). Our aim is to understand the ways of the adherence of these agents to the discourse in terms of compliance and resistance. Regarding the public authority, we are interested in documents relating to the curriculum of São Paulo(operativefrom2008), defined as concrete representatives of public education policies of State. The construction of its proposed action is important here, as identified in the discourse of a school staff in team meetings (HTPC). We analyze the material released by the State agency and the data from field research in the light of Freuds writings on the mechanisms of psychic functioning of groups, and of the contributions of the Lacanian theory of discourse, seeking to high light the characteristics of movement and reproduction of pedagogical discourses and their language resources. Freuds theory of libido proposes that a group consists of two kinds of libidinal ties: established by a leader, and established among the members. From this perspective, education professionals in their local contexts can be studied as groups whose members found libidinal ties among them selves and in relation to common educational ideals. Our working hypothesis is that the possibility of the ideals are common to the whole group is facilitated by the use of linguistic resources, so that they meet a unifying role in the dynamics of everyday relationships as an ideological function.

A communicative approach to responsability discourse in business : from societal to corporate and individual levels

Atif, Muhammad 03 September 2013 (has links) (PDF)
I position my doctoral thesis in the broad field of organization science; it stands within the domains of business ethics, sustainability, and corporate responsibility. I appreciate the emergence of a globalized world whereby countries, people, and businesses are connected to each other through economic, political, social, and technological ties. The globalized economies and societies pose complex and multifaceted challenges. To cope with these challenges, businesses will have to assume newer responsibilities and roles. These responsibilities originate from the evolving societal expectations about businesses and their duties. Hence social discourse on business responsibility should highlight the emerging societal expectations. Further, within businesses, the responsibility discourse should give an insight to the reaction of businesses to these emerging responsibilities. And, finally these discourses should affect the consumers' cognitive development, and consequently impact their attitudes and behaviors. The challenges of sustainability and corporate responsibility are complex, conflicting and at times contradictory. It is imperative to bank on our ability to communicate, to discuss and to co-create universally applicable rules. Therefore I adopt a discursive approach in my thesis, and use Habermas' theory of communicative action (1981) as an overarching theoretical framework. The thesis contains three research studies, each focusing on one aspect of responsibility, thus covering the three levels of responsibility discourse: societal, corporate and individual. The first article presents a thematic analysis of the business responsibility discourse in popular CSR and sustainability books. Content analyses is used to elicit the apparent and latent responsibility themes of the sample books. The second article focuses on the patterns of social disclosure among large French corporations. The responsibility discourse is analyzed through content analyses of the annual reports of CAC-40 companies. The last article is aimed to comprehend the adoption of ethically conscious behaviors by the consumers. The article first presents a quantitative model of consumers' ethical decision making and then validates it empirically by structural equation modeling.

No. of bitstreams: 1 Fabiano Sena de Souza_Disertacao.pdf: 0 bytes, checksum: d41d8cd98f00b204e9800998ecf8427e (MD5) Previous issue date: 2012-06-05 / This paper analyzes from the discourse theory of Ernesto Laclau and Chantal Mouffe the constitution of the Plano Real as a hegemonic sense, considering the rhetoric involved since the implementation of the economic plan, and later in the 1994 presidential election campaign speeches of the two leading candidates: Fernando Henrique Cardoso and Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. The empirical data that supports this research, some of the statements in official documents of the presidency of the republic, official publications, laws, and the speech broadcast on Time Free Election Propaganda (HGPE) by the candidates under discussion. The process of analysis assumes formation of a privileged status of the particular meaning of the Plano Real, featuring a cut antagonistic to inflation, mischievously felt by the population when the implementation of the economic plan. This privileged sense, associated with the preliminary results of the plan, ultimately led to the economic plan to take the centrality of debates on electoral harvest by their competitors, directly influencing the outcome of the 1994 presidential election. Thus this research is to understand and explain the formation of these speeches, their links with other senses, which constituted the end of the process, a hegemonic sense around the Plano Real from these rhetorical discursive practices.

Slaves to our Screens? : A Critical Approach to Self-Regulation of Smartphone Use at the Example of Apple’s Screen Time Feature

Berr, Katharina January 2019 (has links)
The increasingly ubiquitous role of smartphones in our everyday lives causes concerns regarding our relationship with the devices. While some raise the question whether smartphones are addictive (Alter 2017; Lopez-Fernandez 2019), others regard this concern as the most recent manifestation of moral panics (Cashmore, Cleland & Dixon 2018; Leick 2019). Meanwhile advocates of the attention economy argument claim that the problem is the design of technology occupying users’ attention (CHT 2019a-d). Somewhere in between, media and communication studies search for empirical evidence. From this vantage point of ideas this study explores the role of Screen Time, shaping and being shaped by this discourse. As a feature of Apple’s iOS software it is supposed to support users in regulating their smartphone use. Applying the walkthrough method as proposed by Light, Burgess & Duguay (2018) combined with an analysis of user experiences, shows how the technology company shapes a concept of self-regulation for users to adopt to. A concept, which first and foremost follows corporate and not the users’ best interest. This thesis poses the the question whether we are slaves to our screens, but arrives at the conclusion that we carry chains of self-regulation. The question remains, how we can create more sustainable and meaningful environments for protecting our attention.

Silva, Edna de Mello 11 April 2007 (has links)
This thesis discusses the practice of called communitarian journalism on SPTV Comunidade, shown on tv news SPTV 1a. edição on Rede Globo de Televisão. Here, I try to get the different social discourses, wich interact with the news tv and its communities. This research discusses the history of Brazilian news, the concepts of community and the space of the so called alternative journalism as well as the field of the communitary journalism. The news reports shown on SPTV Comunidade are studied according to the theories of discurses and the content analysis. In this work, the Language Sciences are the basis for further discussions as well as theoretical basis. The studies of Michel Foucault concering disciplinar society and the panopticism, as well as Maingueneaus notion of scenography have also contributed to the our results. This results show the various districts are portraited as a scenario for the tv news discourse, wich work as social discipliner, in other words it disciplinates various discourse places and the communities visibilities.

Polarizace české mediální krajiny po roce 2013: analýza diskursu nových mediálních projektů / Polarization of the Czech Media Landscape after 2013: Discourse Analysis of New Media ProjectsPolarization of the Czech Media Landscape after 2013: Discourse Analysis of New Media Projects

Lebedová, Veronika January 2017 (has links)
The thesis deals with the polarization of Czech media landscape after 2013 as a discursive construct. Our topic is the emergence of new media projects, responding to the takeover of MAFRA by Andrej Babis. Three of these are being discussed: Echo24.cz, Reportér and Neovlivní.cz. The thesis aims to describe the discourse of the alternative media, its own representation in current situation. The subject is based on several concepts. First of them is the theory of social responsibility, which is a strong social value despite being quite questionable. Then, we discuss the trend of media ownership concentration and the development of Czech media after 1989, which has come to important changes, such as the change of the overall model of media ownership and the polarization of the media landscape itself. The first part of the thesis serves as a contextual background for the critical discourse analysis. The analysis verifies the hypothesis as follows: Alternative media is defined in opposition to the mainstream and uses the arguments based on the principles of the social responsibility theory to represent its own position, goals and interests. As a result, we found out, that the new projects construct an opposition us versus them as independence versus oligarchization. At the same time, the principles of...

Chilean Uprising : Grassroots movements as an instrument of contestation to social injustice and neoliberal urbanism

Freitas de Souza, Camila January 2020 (has links)
In October 2019, a wave of massive demonstrations took place in Santiago de Chile and this movement was stamped in several newspaper covers worldwide. People shouting against the Chilean neoliberal system, holding posters with anti-imperialist sayings, and organizing artistic interventions on the streets went viral in social media. The message was clear – for several consecutive months, people in Chile were actively questioning the political, economic, and societal systems as well as the power struggles faced in the country. Relying on the 2019-2020 Chilean Uprising as a case study, this research investigates the consistency of the Santiago de Chile demonstrations by connecting its social claims to the field of urban studies for the understanding of social and spatial constructions. The thesis relies on postcolonial, decolonial, and critical urban theories, a critical perspective of the neoliberal system, the Lefebvrian Right to the City concept, and Manuel Castells' grassroots movements definition, as well as semi structured interviews and newspapers articles as empirical data for the enhancement of the debate.
