ABSTRACT - The imperative presence of the triad thinness/beauty/happiness in the media and the unhealthy discipline, most of the times fatal, that some women impose to their bodies, are a favorable setting to the reflection and theoretical research, mainly when interlaced to the cyberculture studies. The combination of different factors, such as the pressure for the achievement of the thinness and the dissatisfaction with the corporeal appearance, can develop or reinforce eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia. In order to make sense to the construction of the ‘self’, it is not enough having only the corporeal aspect idealized, but also embody the dominion practices and self-control of the body, subduing it to the more diverse pain and privation. Through the democratization of the communication enable by the internet potential, these practices find a propitious land to spread out, most of the times disguised by
unsuspecting forms. It is in the social web networks that many girls find a shelter and feel comfortable to expose the way they deal with the social pressure imposed to the feminine body, building from fragment of images a model to be worshiped and converting the eating disorders into one more magic reached prescription of the known ‘perfection’. The present study aimed understand the contemporary phenomenon of the digital construction of the feminine body afflicted with anorexia, as from reading and analysis of images shared by girls, users of the microblogging Tumblr platform. This investigation employed a 'multi-method' approach based primarily on the propositions of research methods to the Internet of the authors Suely FRAGOSO, Raquel RECUERO and Adriana AMARAL (2015), using for the construction of the data elements of netnography, referenced by Kozinets (2014), and the analytical stage, the discussions proposed mainly by Susan SONTAG (2003, 2004). The shared content daily between these young girls reflect the way the body is felt and noticed in a social context, becoming real in a collective reality.
