Investigation of harmonic rejection for triangular patch microstrip antenna

Bin-Melha, Mohammed S., Jan, Naeem A., Usman, Muhammad, Elmegri, Fauzi, See, Chan H., Abd-Alhameed, Raed, Excell, Peter S. January 2013 (has links)
No / A coplanar edge-fed triangular patch antenna with an integrated stubline is proposed for harmonic rejection application. The design is aimed to achieve a good impedance matching to 50 ω at the fundamental frequency while suppressing radiation of the first and second harmonics. The antenna is attended to operate around 1GHz, with acceptable power gain above 1dBi and less than -15dBi at the harmonics. Simulated and measured results show a reasonable agreement.

NMR LINE SHAPES AND KNIGHT SHIFTS OF NaxCoO2-YH2O

Ning, Fanlong 12 1900 (has links)

We investigated the local electronic properties of the triangular-lattice materials NaxCO2 (x = 0.3, 0.72) and the superconductor Na0.3Co02-1.3H20 by 59Co and 170 Nuclear Magnetic Resonance(NMR). For Na0.72Co02 , 59Co NMR line shape shows clearly that there are two types of Co sites - Co(A) site and Co(B) site. The electronic character of Co(A) site is close to that of the less magnetic Co+3-like ion with spin rv 0, while the electronic character of Co(B) site is close to that of the strongly magnetic Co+4-like ions with spin ~ 1/2. The temperature dependence of the Knight shifts suggests that the Co(A) and Co(B) sites are electronically coupled, which is not consistent with simple phase separation. The local Co electronic environments propagate to the adjacent 0 layers through p-d hybridization. Therefore, there are two types of oxygen sites, O(A) site and O(B) site. We introduced a different route to do K vs x plot analysis for the Co sites and determined that for the Co sites, Karbitat(A) is 1.816 % and Kspin(A) is about rv 0.2 %; Karbitat(B) is 4.0255 % and Kspin(B) is at least 1.5 %. For Na0 .3Co02 , 59Co NMR line shape shows that the Co valence is averaged out in this material. There are two types of oxygen sites, 0( C) site and O(D) site, presumably because of the nearest neighbor Na+ sites. The constant behavior of Knight shifts below 100 K for both the Co and 0 sites suggests the emergence of a low temperature canonical Fermi-liquid behavior. For the superconductor Na0.3CoO2-1.3H20, both 59Co and 170 NMR line shapes show that there is only one type of Co site and oxygen site. The Knight shifts of 59Co and 170 are temperature independent below 100 K down to Tc. Combined with our spin-lattice relaxation 1/T 1 T measurements, we can rule out the possibility of ferromagnetic scenario of spin excitations above Tc.
/ Thesis / Master of Science (MSc)

The lateral-directional characteristics of a 74-degree delta wing employing gothic planform vortex flaps

Grantz, Arthur C. January 1984 (has links)
An investigation to determine the low-speed lateral-directional characteristics of a generic 74-degree delta wing-body configuration employing the latest generation, gothic planform vortex flaps has been conducted. In addition, the theoretical estimates from VORSTAB were compared against experimental data to aid in documenting this new method. VORSTAB is an extension of the Quasi-Vortex-Lattice Method of Lan which empirically accounts for vortex breakdown effects in the calculation of longitudinal and lateral-directional aerodynamic characteristics. The experimental results indicated that leading-edge deflections of 30 and 40 degrees significantly reduce the magnitude of the wing effective dihedral relative to the baseline for a specified angle of attack or lift coefficient. For angles of attack greater than 15 degrees, these flap deflections reduce the configuration directional stability despite improved vertical tail effectiveness. Asymmetric leading edge deflections are shown to be inferior to conventional ailerons in generating rolling moments. Asymmetric leading-edge deflections are effective in producing side force at moderate to high angles of attack. VORSTAB lateral-directional calculations provide ballpark estimates at low to moderate angles of attack. The theory does not account for vortex flow induced, vertical tail effects at high angles of attack and should not be used for this angle of attack region. The empirical formulae for predicting vortex burst effects are not reliable in their present form. Although the basic trends are correct, the magnitude of the predicted vortex burst effect is typically over-estimated. / Master of Science

NONLINEAR AERODYNAMICS OF CONICAL DELTA WINGS.

SRITHARAN, SIVAGURU SORNALINGAM. January 1982 (has links)
Steady, inviscid, supersonic flow past conical wings is studied within the context of irrotational, nonlinear theory. An efficient numerical method is developed to calculate cones of arbitrary section at incidence. The method is fully conservative and implements a body conforming mesh generator. The conical potential is assumed to have its best linear variation inside each cell; a secondary interlocking cell system is used to establish the flux balance required to conserve mass. In regions of supersonic cross flow, the discretization scheme is desymmetrized by adding the appropriate artificial viscosity in conservation form. The algorithm is nearly an order of magnitude faster than present Euler methods. It predicts known results as long as the flow Mach numbers normal to the shock waves are near 1; qualitative features, such as nodal point lift-off, are also predicted correctly. Results for circular and thin elliptic cones are shown to compare very well with calculations using Euler equations. This algorithm is then implemented in the design of conical wings to be free from shock waves terminating embedded supersonic zones adjacent to the body. This is accomplished by generating a smooth cross-flow sonic surface by using a fictitious gas law that makes the governing equation elliptic inside the cross-flow sonic surface. The shape of the wing required to provide this shock-free flow, if such a flow is consistent with the sonic surface data, is found by solving the Cauchy problem inside the sonic surface using the data on this surface and, of course, the correct gas law. This design procedure is then demonstrated using the simple case of a circular cone at angle of attack.

Lie isomorphisms of triangular and block-triangular matrix algebras over commutative rings

Cecil, Anthony John 24 August 2016 (has links)
For many matrix algebras, every associative automorphism is inner. We discuss results by Đoković that a non-associative Lie automorphism φ of a triangular matrix algebra Tₙ over a connected unital commutative ring, is of the form φ(A)=SAS⁻¹ + τ(A)I or φ(A)=−SJ Aᵀ JS⁻¹ + τ(A)I, where S ∈ Tₙ is invertible, J is an antidiagonal permutation matrix, and τ is a generalized trace. We incorporate additional arguments by Cao that extended Đoković’s result to unital commutative rings containing nontrivial idempotents. Following this we develop new results for Lie isomorphisms of block upper-triangular matrix algebras over unique factorization domains. We build on an approach used by Marcoux and Sourour to characterize Lie isomorphisms of nest algebras over separable Hilbert spaces. We find that these Lie isomorphisms generally follow the form φ = σ + τ where σ is either an associative isomorphism or the negative of an associative anti-isomorphism, and τ is an additive mapping into the center, which maps commutators to zero. This echoes established results by Martindale for simple and prime rings. / Graduate

Grupo e criação na clínica do autismo / Group and creation in the autisms clinics

Britto, Cecilia Galvão de 29 June 2018 (has links)
The present work is based on the researcher\'s experience with the treatment of autist and psychotic children in group led the author to seek an understanding of the creation as a clinical tool in the treatment of the autism in heterogeneous groups, which is the general objective of the research in question. Also, as specific objectives, it is sought: to contribute to the construction of theoretical-clinical operators for the autism clinic; to contribute to think the clinic of groups under a Lacanian perspective having a dialogue with Kaës contributions. To be able to do that, a link was made between what Lacan psychoanalysts formulate about autism and what Kaës proposes about groups, using especially his formulation about unconscious alliances, and introducing Lacanian considerations about the identification of the subjective mark. The methodological support of this articulation comes from Luis Claudio Figueiredos theorization of the crossing of paradigms. In the development of the present research, we conclude that the creation has effects in a double aspect: as a tool of which the treatment with these children can be used, such as the playing, the games, the storytelling, the art and other forms of expression from the culture and the language (a form of articulation between the subject and the Other). The second strand would be the creation as that which the subject can produce. In the autism, what we propose is that creation as production takes place by means of an ordering of the inner world, the construction of a bodily image, and a saying that may be singular, that surpasses anonymity through its articulation in the culture, the language, with the Other precisely from what is most proper in it: its uniqueness. Considering the closure of these subjects to the other, we propose as strategy the so-called triangular intervention. Again, in this specific clinic we think that there is a double aspect: about group and about the creation. In the group, this occurs through the mediation of the analyst, who directs a child to the other, who lends his voice to what is not being said. Yet, children themselves can sometimes play this role. In creation, triangular intervention takes place when creation can operate as a third, when it can have an intermediate effect for the exchanges. From it, the subjects can take ownership of what is of the culture - of the Other - as well as they can go making symbolic exchanges and constructions of their Self, through identifications

No. of bitstreams: 1 PDF - Thamirys Ferreira Cavalcante.pdf: 1378085 bytes, checksum: 3f6a9ebf2593b00cc873e760dcf8ac66 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2015-06-30 / CAPES / Beginning from the dynamics of interests that guide the relationship between Brazil and Japan, the aim of this work is to study the Japanese-Brazilian relations, emphasizing the cooperation maintained between the two countries. To carry out the work, it employed the literature on the subject and it was supported by studies carried out by agencies of both governments and by research institutions such as ABC, the MOFA and the IBGE. The text builds itself in an effort to show how cooperation is capable of acting in the design of favorable identifications among countries and draw closer relations through the perception of common interests. Historically, Japanese-Brazilian relations developed in bases defined as complementary interests. These interests associated with changes in the international scenario draw Japan and Brazil closer to each other over the years, turning the mutual perception between them and outlining the contours of interaction structures. Apart from a relationship based on human ties, from the 1950s, new variables were added to these structures, such as trade and technical cooperation. Despite the intermittent character, the Japanese-Brazilian relationship has evolved and surpassed the bilateral sphere, expanding the results of this cooperation to other countries through a fruitful triangular partnership.
