SKYVOVÁ, BARBORA. Consequences of Economic Crisis on autonomous communities and cities in Spain. Diploma thesis. Brno: Mendel University, 2017. The diploma thesis focuses on impacts of the economic crisis (2008-2009) on seventeen autonomous communities and two autonomous cities of Spain. beta-convergence analysis and cluster analysis are applied to identify convergence or divergence process among Spanish regions within periods 2000-2007 and 2008-2015. Differences among regions are found out and economic situation is defined by macroeconomic indicators.

The topic of the thesis is Comparison of methods for determination of chemical oxygen demand. Chemical oxygen demand is one of the basic indicators of water pollution. It indicates the degree of pollution by organic and oxidizable inorganic substances. The work is focused on comparison of methods, which are commonly used for the determination of COD in wastewater. The methods assessed are the titration method and the spectrophotometric method. The methods are compared on differently loaded samples. The aim of the comparison is to assess the repeatability of the results, the financial costs of the methods, and the labor and time demands.

The diploma thesis deals with the evaluation of a selected set of ten business en-tities from the dairy industry in the specific period from 2009 to 2016. The aim of the thesis is to identify the key factors affecting economic added value in selected business entities, especially focusing on indicators affecting development sales. The introductory part describes the theoretical framework and case studies, which include issues closely related to the topic of the thesis. The second part is devoted to the analysis of financial ratios data and the economic value added of selected companies. Based on the results of this analysis, key factors affecting EVA are identified using mathematical-statistical methods. In the last part, there are suggestions that will lead to an increase in the EVA indicator in given companies or in the whole dairy industry, focusing on indicators that influence sales.

The diploma thesis deals with changes in the portfolio of construction companies and their influence on the economic and financial indicators. The first part is based on technical literature, which serves as a basis for the following practical part. The practical part is focused on current trends of construction companies in the Czech Republic and Europe, analysis of international and national external environment using SLEPTE analysis. Additionally, there is a case study, which includes an analysis of the portfolio of the selected construction company and financial analysis from 2014 to 2018. Based on these information and analyses, recommendations for increasing the competitiveness and proficiency of the monitored company and the entire construction industry are proposed.

Cibulka, O. Factors influencing the amount of sales in accommodation and catering facilities in the Czech Republic. Diploma thesis. Brno: Mendel University, 2019. The thesis deals with the quantification of factors affecting the amount of sales in the area of accommodation, catering and hospitality in the Czech Republic. In addition to assessing the significance of these factors, the development of sales in the observed area is examined. To do this, a model is drawn up that describes the behaviour of sales of the given facilities, and on the basis of which the prediction of values for the next 5 quarters is then made. Subsequently, the impact of the financial crisis on the size of sales in the observed area is clarified. Finally, according to the findings, appropriate recommendations for improving the quality of provided services in the observed area are created.

The purpose of this Master’s Thesis is to evaluate the economies of selected ECOWAS members – Ghana and Nigeria – to find out how some of their economic indicators perform when shocks such as monetary, supply, demand and external shocks are applied. This will enable us to gauge their policy responses to a shock such as occurred during the Global Financial Crisis. The work is divided into two parts, namely the theoretical aspect and the quantitative aspect. The theoretical aspect looks at other authors who have discussed similar issues and the quantitative portion deals with econometric models that analysed data pulled from the economic indicators of both countries. The results are then discussed and a conclusion is arrived at.

This diploma thesis examines the possibilities of using the PE ratio in the creation of a stock portfolio on the Chinese and American stock market. The result of this work is the finding that low PE shares achieve higher risk-weighted returns over short and long investment horizons than shares with high PE values in both ex-amined markets. However, based on the detected volatility of the shares with the extreme values of PE, it is possible to recommend the use of this indicator for creation of the portfolio only to the most speculative investors.

The diploma thesis investigates the effect of oil price fluctuations on selected macroeconomic indicators for a set of four oil-producing countries. It provides a general overview of the development in oil prices as well as the oil production and presents a more thorough analysis of the oil production, consumption and trade in the selected countries. It utilizes the methods of Vector Autoregression, Granger causality and Impulse response via the econometric software Gretl in the analysis of the effects and compares the current literature with quantitative results.

The aim of this thesis was sociodemographic analysis of administrative district ORP Bučovice in the period 2005-2015. The first part of this thesis was dealt with description of the demographic analysis and demographic indicators. The second part devoted to the characteristics of the administrative district, civic amenities, further there were analysis of the pointers like natality, abortion, mortality, marriage, divorce rate and the migration. For these indicators, the development trend was projected for 2018 with the help of trending function. The analysis has shown that there is demographic aging in the administrative district and there is also a higher level of education of these population. At the conclusion of this thesis, a cluster analysis was carried out of all municipalities in the administrative district, which divided the municipalities into the clusters.

This thesis deals with evaluation of financial and economical situation in furniture company NADOP-výroba nábytku a.s., for the period 2011-2015. Goal of the work is an elaboration of financial analysis of company's current condition using methods of horizontal and vertical analysis, differential indicators and ratio analysis. Theoretical and methodological basis and other aspects are described in the theoretical part. Practical part contains developed financial analysis based on which are evaluated the current situation and further developement of the company, and a prediction of financial distress. Part of the thesis is also proposal of tools and procedures for improving financial management based on the found results.
