Analyse visco-plastique de l'endommagement des plaques et coques soumises aux impacts / Viscoplastic damage analysis of plate-shell structures subjected to impact loading

Pyrzowski, Lukasz 26 November 2010 (has links)
The work presents the investigation in the response of plate-shell structures subjected to impact loadings (gas mixture explosions). This phenomenon is studied in the context of its mechanical aspects, mainly the ductile fracture prediction. The work starts with the literature review and the description of theories, which are nowadays the most popular in the damage and fracture modelling. After selecting the theoretical models and the numerical tools for the further analysis, the detailed report of all realized experimental tests and their results ispresented. Then, for the assumed constitutive and damage laws, the identification of material and fracture criteria parameters is realized. Finally, the numerical simulations are performed and their results, verified by the experiments, are summarized and commented. The work finishes with the conclusions, where the best approaches (from those, which havebeen tested) are pointed, all assumptions or limitations used in the study are discussed and the objectives for the further research are indicated.

Systém sponzorování a návrhy na využití sponzorovaných sportovců v marketingové komunikaci společnosti General Sport s.r.o. / Sponsorship system and proposals for utilisation of sponsored athletes in marketing communication of General Sport company

Procházková, Barbora January 2017 (has links)
Title: Sponsorship system and proposals for utilisation of sponsored athletes in marketing communication of General Sport company Objectives: The main target of this diploma work is to create proposals for better utilisation of sponsored athletes in marketing communication that will be created on the basis of an overall analysis of General Sport Ltd. sponsorship issue. The proposals will be supported on the internal information and the company's datas and so they will be better implemented in practice. Methods: In this work there was mainly used a written and oral survey method. To evaluate the overall relation to the sponsorship and the utilisation of sponsored subjects there was also used a method of an in-depth interview that helped to gain greater inoformation. Basic facts about the company were being detected during the personal interviews with the company's executive directors. Combining these two methods of questioning was chosen for its additional character and greater gaining information. Results: The results of the entire work, based on both the information received from the sponsor and the information from the sponsored sides, show that the GS sponsorship system is insufficiently sophisticated. It lacks a clear structure, clear rules that are not respected by either side. The most...

The Effects of the DUI 24/7 Program in Cass County, North Dakota

Berge, Christine Marie January 2019 (has links)
This study presents the results of an evaluation of the 24/7 Sobriety Program in Cass County, North Dakota, looking specifically at participants’ likelihood of receiving a conviction of Driving Under the Influence (DUI) both during and after exiting the program. Data was collected of participants who have been enrolled in the program from the start of the program in 2010 through 2018 and matched to public criminal records searches of each participant. Several analyses were run to determine whether substance choice (alcohol vs. drugs), gender (male vs. female), and duration in program influence a participant’s likelihood to recidivate. Findings for each measure are presented including potential changes that could be made, as well as, limitations of the study.

Frihet under ansvar : En studie om chefers förhållningsätt till privata angelägenheter på arbetsplatsen

Häger, Theodor, Andersson, Anders January 2020 (has links)

TO PERFORM UNDER PRESSURE : BASKETBALL PLAYERS FREE THROW SHOOTING UNDER PRESSURE

Svalling, Erik January 2020 (has links)
How people perform tasks and under what circumstances they perform them optimally has been a fascination for humanity for a long time and more particularly whether people perform better or worse under pressure. In this paper, I try to find out whether people perform better or worse when there is pressure. The data used is the free throw percentages for teams of the Swedish basketball leagues “Svenska basketligan” and “Svenska Superettan” for both men and women 2003-2019. I then investigate if the teams perform worse or better when games have a lot of pressure. I use definitions of pressure such as the size of the audience, if the game was close in terms of points and whether it was a playoff game. The findings are that for certain definitions of pressure, such as if the game was close and the size of the audience, players performed worse.

Learning, Price Formation and the Early Season Bias in the NBA

Baryla, Edward A., Borghesi, Richard A., Dare, William H., Dennis, Steven A. 01 September 2007 (has links)
We test the NBA betting market for efficiency and find that totals lines are significantly biased early each season, yet sides lines do not show a similar bias. While market participants generally force line movements in the correct direction from open to close, they do not fully remove the identified bias in totals lines. This inefficiency enables a profitable technical trading strategy, as the resulting win rate of our proposed simple betting strategy against the closing totals line is 56.72%.

The determinants of under-five mortality in a selected village in Vhembe District, South Africa

Chifamba, Grace 02 August 2020 (has links)
MPH / Department of Public Health / Background: Despite modest improvements in child health outcomes during the 20th century, infant and child mortality rates remain unacceptably high in South Africa. South Africa, like many other countries in sub-Saharan Africa, is challenged by high levels of under -five child mortality. Aim: The purpose of this study was to explore the determinants of under-five mortality in a selected village in Vhembe District, South Africa. Methodology: The study was conducted in Mhinga Village in Vhembe District, Limpopo province South Africa. A qualitative approach using a descriptive design was used for the study. A sample of 7 mothers who lost children under 5 years of age through death were selected from the target population by means of snowball sampling. Data was collected through a semi-structured interview. The data collected was analysed using the thematic analytical approach. Results: Four main themes emerged during data analysis namely, diseases and infections as causes of U5M in Mhinga, Maternal and perinatal health as determinants associated with U5M in Mhinga, Health care factors as determinants associated with U5M in Mhinga and cultural factors as determinants contributing to U5M in Mhinga, Conclusion and recommendation: The study recommends that a study be conducted on the factors that affect the utilisation of health and ANC services and strategies to promote the use of health and ANC services in Mhinga. The researcher further recommends that a study be conducted on strategies to reduce U5M in Mhinga. / NRF

Subjective wellbeing in a sample of South African, Xhosa people with schizophrenia

Boshe, Judith 04 March 2020 (has links)
Subjective well-being when on neuroleptic treatment (SWBN), has been established as a good predictor of adherence, early response and prognosis in patients with schizophrenia(1, 2). The 20-item subjective well-being under neuroleptic treatment scale (SWN-K 20) is a self-rating scale that has been validated to measure SWBN(3). However, the SWN-K20 has not been previously used in a Low- and Middle-income country (LMIC). Aims and Objectives: This study explored the psychometric properties of SWN-K20 in a sample of Xhosa speaking African patients with schizophrenia, and investigated factors associated with SWBN in this population. Methods: As a part of a large genetic study, 244 study participants with a confirmed diagnosis of schizophrenia completed the translated SWN-K 20 scale. Internal consistency analysis was performed, and convergent analysis and exploratory analysis were conducted using Principal Component Analysis (PCA).Varimax rotation method was selected as we did not assume any correlation of the factors(4). Linear regression methods were used to determine predictors of SWBN in the sample population. Results: The PCA extracted 4 components which cumulatively explained 52.21% of the total variance. The internal consistency of the SWN-K 20 was 0.86 and those of the sub-scales ranged between 0.47 and 0.59. The total scores of the SWN-K 20 demonstrated moderate correlation r= 0.44 with GAF scores. The sub-scale scores had lower correlations ranging between r=.41 and r=.30 with the GAF scores. The total scores on SWN-K20 scale were used to explore factors influencing SWBN. There was a significant correlation between overall subjective well-being score with higher education level, increased illness severity and GAF scores. Discussion and Conclusion: The isiXhosa version of the SWN-20 scale can be used for clinical and research purposes in LMICs but predictors of SWBN in this population differed from those previously established in (high income countries) HICs. The individual sub-scales of the SWN-K20 were less reliable when translated into isiXhosa and hence the subs-scales were not a meaningful measure of specific domains of wellbeing . These findings merit evaluation to determine whether cultural and linguistic specific sub-cales might provide further insight and recommendations for use in South African context. Predictors of SWBN in this LMICs population were not comparable to those in HICs setting(5, 6). Older patients with lower baseline level of education, poor global functioning and less severe symptoms were noted to have lower SWBN and hence at risk of poor compliance. This information could provide guidance for clinicians, researchers and interventions that aim at improving compliance and the treatment experiences of this patient group.
