L’utilisation des polymères biosourcés en industrie, bien qu’en constant développement, est encore limitée principalement en raison de leurs propriétés physiques insuffisantes. L’incorporation d’argile est l’une des voies permettant de compenser ces limites. L’objectif principal de cette thèse à vocation industrielle a été de formuler et caractériser de nouveaux matériaux composites à base de biopolymères et de charges minérales pour des applications dans l’emballage, en s’intéressant notamment à l’influence de la nature de la charge ajoutée. En outre l’une des originalités de ces travaux réside dans l’utilisation de taux d’argile élevés (≥ 30 wt%). De plus le rôle de l’interface entre la matrice polymère et le renfort minéral sur la structure et les propriétés thermomécaniques et barrière du biomatériau élaboré a été plus particulièrement étudié. Un screening de différents couples biopolymère/argile a tout d’abord été réalisé sur des matériaux élaborés " à l’échelle laboratoire ". Des formulations d’intérêt ont ensuite été sélectionnées et mises en œuvre « à l’échelle pilote ». Les résultats obtenus sur les systèmes PLA/argile ont permis de montrer que bien plus que le taux d’argile incorporé ou le degré de dispersion, c’est la nature de la charge qui influence davantage les propriétés thermomécaniques. Par ailleurs, appliquer un procédé tel que le biétirage permet de palier à la fragilité du PLA et d’augmenter considérablement ses propriétés barrière. Enfin, concernant la matrice d’alginate, la plastification donne lieu à un matériau hétérophasé et l’ajout d’argile n’induit pas de baisse de l’étirabilité tout en améliorant la rigidité du matériau. / Although in constant development, the use of biobased polymers for industrial applications is still limited mainly because of their intrinsically limited physical properties. Adding clay is one solution to outclass these limitations. The main goal of this thesis, with an applied nature, was to elaborate and characterize new composite materials based on biopolymers and clays for applications in the packaging field. More especially, the influence of the clay nature was assessed. One of the distinctive features of this PhD work is the use of a high clay contents (≥ 30 wt%). Moreover, a particular attention was paid to study the role of the interface between the polymer matrix and the mineral filler on the structure as well as on the thermomechanical and barrier properties of the elaborated biocomposite.A screening of different biopolymer/clay compound elaborated at the laboratory scale was firstly studied in terms of structure, morphology and physical properties. Then the most promising formulations were selected and elaborated at a larger scale using industrially processes. The results obtained on Polylactide (PLA)/clay compounds showed that rather than the content of clay or its dispersion degree, it is the nature of the clay, i.e. its chemistry and its crystallography, that mainly govern the thermomechanical properties. Furthermore it was highlighted that applying a biaxial stretching on this kind of materials offsets the PLA brittleness and increases its barrier properties. Finally, regarding the alginate based composites, plasticization leads to a heterogeneous material and adding clay involves an increase of the material rigidity without any decrease of stretchability.

Esta dissertação trata do impacto do onze de setembro sobre a visibilidade das comunidades muçulmanas no Brasil a partir de uma rede de instituições sunitas, com foco em duas especialmente, a União das Entidades Islâmicas (UNI) e a Assembleia Mundial da Juventude Islâmica (WAMY) e seu trabalho político com direitos humanos. As entidades passaram a ser interpeladas com acusações que se relacionam, fundamentalmente, à violação de direitos humanos, com um forte viés orientalista, nos termos de Edward Said. As iniciativas públicas e principais posicionamentos políticos tocam na questão dos direitos das mulheres e a proteção à vida. Além disso, os direitos humanos aparecem nas agendas humanitárias globais pautadas pelas entidades e outros atores políticos muçulmanos, como a questão palestina. Optei por abordá-los a partir de uma perspectiva de vida social ativa dada a heterogeneidade de material que tinha em mãos. Por fim, as entidades me revelaram um projeto político de comunidade com uma estética e uma ética específicas, bastante enleadas com a lógica de produção de imagens típicas de uma politicidade dos espaços de debate público contemporâneos. / This dissertation deals with the impact of September 11 on the visibility of Muslim communities in Brazil from a network of Sunni institutions, with a focus on two in particular, the Union of Islamic Entities (UNI) and the Islamic World Youth Assembly (WAMY) and his political work with human rights. The entities are now challenged with allegations that relate mainly to the violation of human rights, with a strong bias Orientalist, according to Edward Said. Public initiatives and major political positions touch the issue of women\'s rights and the protection of life. In addition, human rights appear in the global humanitarian agenda guided by the entities and other Muslim political actors, such as the Palestinian issue. I chose to approach them from a perspective of active social life given the heterogeneity of the material at hand. Finally, the authorities have shown me a community political project with an aesthetic and a specific ethical, rather ensnared with typical imaging logic of a political nature of the spaces of contemporary public debate.

Este trabalho surgiu do interesse em compreender as relações entre o Projeto UNI: Uma Nova Iniciativa na Formação dos Profissionais de Saúde: União com a Comunidade e os movimentos populares de saúde a ele relacionados. Desenvolveu-se como um estudo de caso na região Sul do município de Londrina – PR, através da utilização de um método qualitativo que compreendeu análises documentais, entrevistas semi-estruturadas individuais e coletivas, bem como contribuições etnográficas, através das observações realizadas em campo. Os resultados obtidos foram descritos e discutidos dentro de sete categorias analíticas construídas e teoricamente relacionadas ao trabalho, sendo elas: articulação, autonomia, organização, parceria, cultura política, oposição e participação. A análise destas categorias revelou um significativo impacto positivo do Projeto UNI nas organizações comunitárias, ao longo dos últimos oito anos, as quais conquistaram maior capacidade e instrumentos de luta, ampliando sua participação na sociedade, principalmente nos espaços criados pelo Sistema Único de Saúde. / This study was developed from the interest in understanding the relationship between the UNI Project: a New Iniciative in Health Professionals´ Education: Community Based and the Health Community Groups related to it. It is a case study about the southern district of Londrina, a city in Paraná State. Using qualitative approachs, the author analyzed documents, individual and colective semi-structured interviews, as well as ethnographic information gathered in the field observation. The results were presented and discussed though seven analitycal categories: articulation, autonomy, organization, partnership, political culture, opposition and participation. The final considerations showed an extremaly positive impact of the Project on these Community Groups during the last eight years. The community has become more participative in the defense of their rights, especially regarding the local public health system.

The purpose of this research was to determine uni-axial response of synthetic fibres required for structural design. The stress versus crack opening curves, required by RILEM for structural design of fibre reinforced concrete, were determined for each fibre type investigate and were used to compare the per fibre post-crack response, the pullout curves, and the flexural response. A study of the fibre distribution was conducted in order to determine the orientation factor required to predict the number of fibres expect in the tensile specimen crack face. The orientation factor, dosage, fibre geometry, and per fibre post-crack response were determined in order to predict the resulting tensile strength of a concrete mix. The tensile strength was compared to that of steel fibre currently being used in structural applications. The synthetic fibres tested only achieve a small percentage of their ultimate tensile strength; in order to produce synthetic fibres for structural applications, the bond strengths must be improved.
