Cette thèse a pour objectif de faire la lumière sur l'acquisition d'une langue étrangère en autonomie par la télévision. Elle s'inscrit dans deux champs de recherche, celui de la didactique des langues et celui de la psychologie cognitive. Elle s'appuie sur l ' étude de spectateurs tunisiens qui ont acquis l'italien par la simple exposition à la chaîne italienne Rai Uno et sur une expérimentation menée auprès de jeunes enfants. Des tests [CELI1] ont montré que ces spectateurs ont pu acquérir un niveau intermédiaire en italien malgré l'absence d'enseignement et d'interaction. L'analyse qualitative des entretiens a montré que l'exposition à une langue étrangère par la télévision s'accompagne d'un apprentissage implicite de cette langue, que l'acquisition de celle-ci est le résultat d'une exposition prolongée et qu'elle fait développer davantage des compétences de compréhension que des compétences de production. L'expérimentation menée auprès des enfants a confirmé ces résultats. L'ensemble de ces données a également montré la validité des hypothèses de Krashen concernant la primauté de l'acquisition sur l'apprentissage, l'importance des inputs compréhensibles et l'effet du filtre affectif. / This thesis aims to shed light on the fact to acquire a foreign language autonomously by watching television. It comes according to two fields of research that are “the didactic of languages” and the “cognitive psychology”. This thesis is based on a survey of Tunisian spectators who have acquired the Italian language by watching the Italian channel Rai Uno and also experimentation conducted with young children. Indeed, the acquisitions of language by the spectators are real despite the absence of education and interaction. They were evaluated by tests [CELI1] which have shown that these viewers have an intermediate level in Italian language. Qualitative analysis of interviews showed that exposure to a foreign language television is accompanied by an implicit learning of the language. The acquisition of the latter is the result of a long exposure and it is further developing the understanding skills than the production skills. Together, these data also showed the validity of Krashen hypothesis regarding the primacy of the acquisition to the learning, the importance of understandable inputs and the impact of the emotional filter.

Identifiering av UNO-kort : En jämförelse av bildigenkänningsteknikerAl-Asadi, Yousif, Streit, Jennifer January 2023 (has links)
Att spela sällskapsspelet UNO är en typ av umgängesform där målet är att trivas. EnUNO-kortlek har 5 olika färger (blå, röd, grön, gul och joker) och olika symboler.Detta kan vara frustrerande för en person med nedsatt färgseende att delta, då enstor andel av spelet är beroende av att identifiera färgen på varje kort. Övergripandesyftet med detta arbete är att utveckla en prototyp för objektigenkänning av UNOkort som stöd för färgnedsatta. Arbetet sker genom jämförelse av objektigenkänningsmetoder som Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) och Template Matchinginspirerade metoder: hue template test samt binary template test. Detta kommer attjämföras i samband med igenkänning av färg och symbol tillsammans och separerat. Utvecklandet av prototypen kommer att utföras genom att träna två olika CNNmodeller, där en modell fokuserar endast på symboler och den andra fokuserar påbåde färg och symbol. Dessa modeller kommer att tränas med hjälp av YOLOv5 algoritmen som anses vara State Of The Art (SOTA) inom CNN med snabb exekvering. Samtidigt kommer template test att utvecklas med hjälp av OpenCV och genom att skapa mallar för korten. Dessa används för att göra en jämförelse av kortetsom ska identifieras med hjälp av mallen. Utöver detta kommer K Nearest Neighbor(KNN), en maskininlärningsalgoritm att utvecklas med syfte att identifiera endastfärg på korten. Slutligen utförs en jämförelse mellan dessa metoder genom mätningav prestanda som består av accuracy, precision, recall och latency. Jämförelsen kommer att ske mellan varje metod genom en confusion matrix för färger och symbolerför respektive modell. Resultatet av studien visade på att modellen som kombinerar CNN och KNN presterade bäst vid valideringen av de olika metoderna. Utöver detta visar studien atttemplate test är snabbare att implementera än CNN på grund av tiden för träningensom ett neuralt nätverk kräver. Dessutom visar latency att det finns en skillnad mellan de olika modellerna, där CNN presterade bäst. / Engaging in the social game of UNO represents a form of social interaction aimed atpromoting enjoyment. Each UNO card deck consists of five different colors (blue,red, green, yellow and joker) and various symbols. However participating in such agame can be frustrating for individuals with color vision impairment. Since a substantial portion of the game relies on accurately identifying the color of each card.The overall purpose of this research is to develop a prototype for object recognitionof UNO cards to support individuals with color vision impairment. This thesis involves comparing object recognition methods, namely Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) and Template Matching (TM). Each method will be compared with respect to color and symbol recognition both separately and combined. The development of such a prototype will be through creating and training two different CNN models, where the first model focuses on solely symbol recognitionwhile the other model incorporates both color and symbol recognition. These models will be trained though an algorithm called YOLOv5 which is considered state-ofthe-art (SOTA) with fast execution. At the same time, two models of TM inspiredmethods, hue template test and binary template test, will be developed with thehelp of OpenCV and by creating templates for the cards. Each template will be usedas a way to compare the detected card in order to classify it. Additionally, the KNearest Neighbor (KNN) algorithm, a machine learning algorithm, will be developed specifically to identify the color of the cards. Finally a comparative analysis ofthese methods will be conducted by evaluating performance metrics such as accuracy, precision, recall and latency. The comparison will be carried out in betweeneach method using a confusion matrix for color and symbol in respective models. The study’s findings revealed that the model combining CNN and KNN demonstrated the best performance during the validation of the different models. Furthermore, the study shows that template tests are faster to implement than CNN due tothe training that a neural network requires. Moreover, the execution time showsthat there is a difference between the different models, where CNN achieved thehighest performance.

O estranhamento do próprio aspecto físico desencadeia processos de dissolução persistentes, com a completa subversão da ordem ontológica. Moscarda estabelece uma espécie de teoria com ênfase nas relações humanas e coloca em prática a destruição de suas próprias personae, que emergem a partir de suas relações sociais. Vitangelo Moscarda is a guy who is used to his current situation, until the day his wife points a defect in his face: the nose \'tilts\' to the right. Such lack of physical harmony also suggests the disagreement in the universe, in which the body itself is seen as something that is not in agreement with the reality as Moscarda believed. The estrangemnt of his own physical aspect results in persistent dissolution processes, with the complete subversion of the onthologic order. Moscarda stablishes a sort of theory focused on human relations and set the destruction of his own personae - which arise from his social relations - into practice. Through this denial of several images provoked in the other, one may read the conflicts and the crisis of Moscarda as resulting from the modernity experience and its respective environment moved by capital, vulgarity and interest that command the relationships.

Previous issue date: 2014-03-06 / Commercial flame photometers require a dedicated gas system and have considerable mass and volume, i. e., they are not portable. This work, as such, proposes the development of a portable flame photometer (prototype) using a torch lighter as the atomizer and controller, with an internal gas supply system, and managed by an Android mobile device. The internal control of prototype and the signal processing were performed by an Arduino Uno single-board microcontroller. The Android application was developed in App Inventor, an open source integrated development environment created and maintained by Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The nebulization was accomplished by ultrasonic cavitation in an adapted low power humidifier, which produces an aerosol sample which consists of very small radii droplets. The initiallyturbulent aerosol flow, needed to be damped before it reached the flame. Initial testswith calibration solutions of K+ resulted in a calibration curve validated using analysis of variance, the limits of detection and quantification were estimated. Optimizations still need to be made in the nebulization and aerosol transport system to improve theefficiency and to minimize inter-contamination of samples during the measurements. / Os fotômetros de chama comerciais necessitam de um sistema de gases dedicado e possuem massa e volume consideráveis, ou seja, não são portáteis. O presente trabalho, diante do exposto, propõe-se a mostrar o desenvolvimento de um protótipo de fotômetro de chama portátil pelo uso de um isqueiro maçarico como atomizador, com sistema de alimentação de gases interno e gerenciado por um dispositivo móvel Android. O controle interno do protótipo bem como o processamento de sinal foram realizados por um Arduino Uno. Um aplicativo para o dispositivo móvel foi desenvolvido no App Inventor, ambiente de programação criado e mantido pelo Instituto de Tecnologia de Massachusetts. A nebulização se deu por cavitação ultrassônica em um humidificador de baixa potência o qual produz um aerossol de amostra constituído por gotículas de raio muito pequeno. O fluxo de aerossol inicialmente turbulento precisou ser amortecido antes de sua introdução no queimador. Testes iniciais com soluções de calibração de K+ resultaram numa curva analítica validada utilizando-se a Análise de Variância e os limites de detecção e de quantificação foram determinados. No entanto otimizações ainda precisam ser feitas no sistema de nebulização e transporte de aerossol para a melhoria de sua eficiência e para a minimização de intercontaminação de amostras durante as medidas.

This bachelor thesis at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden, aims to clarify how the minimum bandwidth of a stabilised mobile inverted pendulum is affected by the position of its center of mass and the frequency of measuring the state variables. The scope is to apply basic theories in automation control and electronic systems when designing the system. The mechatronical system in the experimental trials is constructed with the main components consisting of bipolar stepper motors, stepper motor drivers (DRV8825), potentiometer and Arduino UNO. The mobile pendulum in question consists of a cart on a rail with a potentiomoter and a rod mounted to it. In the experimental trials in this paper, three different radial positions of the center of mass are analysed with regards to the bandwidth of relevant measurements. A variety of PID parameters, for both the angle and position regulation, are the essential basis on which these stability trials are performed. The results are limited to the resolution of the potentiometer outputs, the length of the rail and the stiffness of the rod. The result is presented by comparisons between data of the greatest angles which are stabilised and the corresponding maximal latency of the angle corrections. These data concludes to that the minimum required bandwidth to sustain stability decreases for an increasing length between the center of mass and the point of rotation. / Denna kandidatexamensuppsats genomfördes på Kungliga Tekniska Högskolan, i Stockholm, Sverige, och har som mål att klargöra hur den minsta bandbredden för en stabiliserad inverterad pendel påverkas av positionen av dess tyngdpunkt samt nätfrekvensen av tillståndsvariablerna. Projektet omfattar grundläggande teorier om reglerteknik och elektriska system. Det mekatroniska systemet som används i experimenten är uppbyggt av följande nyckelkomponenter: bipolära stegmotorer, stegmotordrivare (DRV8825), potentionmeter och Arduino UNO. Den mobila pendeln består av en stång och en potentiometer som är monterad på en vagn löpandes på en räls. I de utförda experimenten i denna rapport analyseras tre radiella positioner på masscentrum med hänsyn till bandbredden och relevanta mätningar. En reglering med olika PID parametrar, för både vinkel- och positionsreglering, är den kritiska process som lade grunden för analyserna av stabiliteten. Resultaten är begränsade av upplösningen hos potentiometerns utsignal, längden av rälsen och stångens styvhet. Resultaten presenteras genom jämförelser mellan data för de största vinklarna som stabiliseras och de motsvarande maximala fördröjningarna. Sammanfattningsvis minskar den minst nödvändiga bandbredden för att upprätthålla stabilitet för ökande längder mellan pendelns tyngdpunkt och rotationspunkten.

Environmental Performance of Steel Grit and Specialty Sand as AbrasivesSilvadasan, Xavier 17 December 2004 (has links)
Dry abrasive blasting is a surface preparation process used in shipyards for cleaning the surfaces of the metal plates to be used in various components of the ship. Commonly used abrasives include sand, steel grit, mineral abrasives, metallic abrasives, and synthetic abrasives. The basic objective of this study was to understand the environmental performance of two abrasives, Steel Grit and Specialty Sand. The project was funded by the Gulf Coast Region Maritime technology Center (GCRMTC) and USEPA. It simulated actual blasting operations conducted at shipyards under enclosed, controlled conditions on plates similar to steel plates commonly blasted at shipyards. The emissions were measured using EPA Source Test Method to quantify particulate emissions. Steel Grit was observed to be more productive, less consuming, and more environmentally friendly compared to Specialty Sand. The findings obtained in this study will be valuable in reducing costs, improving productivity, and protecting the environment.

This thesis serves to document and define my creative process and efforts to perform the role of Oscar in My Friend, Oscar which was written by me and Brian Kaz. It contains my research, how I put my research into use in the role, my production journal, and my project evaluation. My Friend, Oscar was produced by Reyo-San Pictures whose members are Brian Kaz, Charlie Farve Hayes and me. The film was shot from early November of 2008 until April of 2009. After post-production, the film is projected to be ready for screening in September of 2009.
