Head and neck squamous cell carcinoma is the fifth most common cancer worldwide. They are associated with high morbidity and mortality. Despite considerable advances in surgical and oncological treatment over the past two decades, overall treatment outcome has only slightly improved. In my thesis I focused on serum gene expression analysis of head and neck cancer patients, which followed the tissue gene expression analysis in same patients. Further we investigated gene expression analysis in tumour stroma, which is now considered as significant factor in cancer initiation and progression. We revealed several candidate genes, which are involved in signalling pathways connected with cell differentiation and proliferation and are involved in apoptotic pathway (BCl-2, BCl-XL a MAX). As well we detected down-regulation of the main tumour suppressor p 53 protein. In peritumoural tissue we detected overexpression of cytokines typical for embryonal development and ectoderm differentiation - IGF-2 and BMP-4, which significantly influence the phenotype of normal keratinocytes. The theme of this thesis is based on my interest in art around 1900and follows my Bachelor thesis. In chronological sequenced chapters will show Arnošt Hofbauer's life story and describe his artistic development, among others it will also analyze foundation of S. V. U. Mánes, periodical Volné směry etc. In the end of the thesis I attached the catalogs of his work from public and private collections for a complete view of his work. The aim of this thesis is to present Hofbauer's creative work in the most integrated form and in cultural-historical context. I attempt to evaluate his position in the Czech art history.

The thesis covers methods for image segmentation. Fuzzy segmentation is based on the thresholding method. This is generalized to accept multiple criteria. The whole process is mathematically based on the free algebra theory. Free distributive lattice is created from poset of elements based on image properties and the lattice members are represented by terms used by the threshoding. Possible segmentation results compose the equivalence classes distribution. The thesis also contains description of resulting algorithms and methods for their optimization. Also the method of area subtracting is introduced.

The main goal is to create a realistic business plan that is describing an establishment of a coworking centre in Ceske Budejovice. The first part is focusing on several analysis. Analysis of coworking centres in the CR, analysis of the competition in CB, SWOT analysis and an online research can be found there. The practical part of the thesis covers the business plan. The plan includes information about the whole concept, about the way of managing the centre and also information about the main activities and offered services. Important part of the business plan is focusing on potential customers and marketing communication. The end is dedicated to the calculations of incomes and expenses.

Title: Acipimox during Short-Term Exercise Exerts A Negative Feedback of Growth Hormone on Ghrelin Secretion in Patients with Bulimia Nervosa and in Healthy Women: The Role of Lipolysis Objective: Eating disorders, such as bulimia nervosa (BN) and anorexia nervosa (AN), are characterized by abnormal eating behavior. The main features of BN are binge-eating and inappropriate compensatory methods to prevent weight gain. The appetite-modulating peptide ghrelin is secreted by the stomach and shows a strong release of growth hormone (GH). A potential GH-ghrelin feedback loop between stomach and the pituitary has been recently reported. Acipimox (Aci), an analogue of nicotinic acid, inhibits lipolysis in adipose tissue (AT) and reduces plasma glycerol and free fatty acids (FFA) levels. Exercise and Aci are stimulators of GH secretion. We suppose that a negative feedback from increased GH levels during exercise may play a role in reducing plasma ghrelin levels. We surmised that altered baseline activity and exercise-induced activation of the sympathetic nervous system (SNS) results in excessive stimulation of lipolysis associated with negative energy balance and may lead to abnormal AT metabolism in patients with BN. This study deals with an effect of fertilization on amount and quality of free amino acids in soil from wet meadows affected by nutrient loading. Free amino acids were analysed in the soil from the field experiment situated at wet meadows, where an increased nutrient input is simulated (fertilizer NPK). The experiment was established on two sites with different types of soil {--} Záblatí with organic soil and Hamr with mineral soil, both areas in the South Bohemia region. The soil was repeatedly sampled for more than two years and year. One part of this study is focused on testing of ninhydrine-method and HPLC-method for measuring free amino acids and efficiency of different extractants.

The goal of the thesis is to valuate the company Rodinný pivovar Bernard a.s. for the purpose of possible sale or merger in the future. The thesis is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part explains the valuation procedure, particular analyses and methods used in the practical part. A discounted cash flow method was applied, specifically the two-phased model using free cash flow to the firm. The practical part started with a strategic and financial analysis, which helped to build a financial plan. The financial plan made a basis for valuation of the company by income method.

The aim of the paper is to assess the ability of MAFRA a.s. company to increase company value and the ability to sustain the growth in the future. MAFRA a.s. company was valuated using free cash flow to the firm metod .Value of the company is estimated as of 31/12/2008. The value estimated is 2 996 851 677 CZK.

The thesis deals with RF spectroscopic methods, which are applicable for the detection of hazardous substances such as explosives or drugs. Particular attention is focused on promising method of nuclear quadrupole resonance. Abroad this method has recently been applied in the detection of energetic materials in hazardous locations. The cornerstone of the nuclear quadrupole resonance is to evaluate the interaction between electromagnetic radiation, in the range of medium to very short waves, and the researched substance. Observed parameter are the resonant frequencies of the substance. Spectral analysis of signal is used for their evaluation. Resonant frequencies are always typical for the crystalline structure, therefore every explosive or drug is clearly identifiable by this method.

The thesis deals with the refrigeration systems. It analyzes ways to optimize the refrigeration process and the associated energy savings. In a practical application on an industrial building where there is the need of cooling the machinery, it compares the reference system with another two optimized alternatives. The heat recovery alternative supports heating and hot water supply and the water-side free cooling alternative lowers the energy consumption during the cold period of the year. The experimental section assesses the suitability of floor cooling in relation to the stratification of air temperature along the height of the room and the effect on thermal comfort of people.
