Att bekämpa hemlöshet på Irland: Samhällets insatser och volontärarbetares perspektiv : - En kvalitativ studie om volontärers roll i arbetet för att minska hemlösheten på Irland / To combat homelessness in Ireland: Society's efforts and volunteers' perspectives : - A qualitative study on the role of volunteers in the effort to reduce homelessness in IrelandNyberg, Felicia, Selander, Matilda January 2024 (has links)
Abstract Homelessness is a social issue worldwide and in Ireland, the government along with various community organizations is striving to collectively address a national crisis with over 13,500 homless individuals in the country, a number that continues to rise. One of the support initiatives is various volunteer programs regulated at national level, which as part of an ongoing five-year strategic plan, aim to recognize, support, and advocate for the contributions and value of volunteers to Irish society and the well-being of the country. The government's strategy is to continue pursuing a common ambitious vision of a stronger, more sustainable, and inclusive nation. The overall aim of the study is to examine volunteers' experiences in social work aimed at homelessness in Ireland and to map and problematize the country's homelessness situation. To answer the study, we have chosen to use qualitative semistructured interviews with five individuals working as full-time international volunteers in Ireland. The results from the interviews show that volunteer work in social work with homelessness is a rewarding and significant journey. By helping others, it can create positive emotions such as joy, satisfaction, and a sense of belonging, which in turn can contribute to increasing volunteers' self-esteem. Whether volunteer work is formal within organizations, informal, or through everyday acts of kindness, the willingness to do good and contribute to others is a driving motivation for many individuals. /
Granskningsseminarier examensarbeten i Socialt arbete

The Effects of the Student Teaching Experience on Cooperating Teachers in Secondary Agricultural Education Programs: A Case StudyEdwards, Stephen Wyatt 24 August 2012 (has links)
The purpose of this qualitative case study was to examine the effects of the student teaching experience on secondary agricultural education teachers. Eight of the thirteen participants in this study served as a cooperating teacher during the 2012 spring semester for pre-service teachers in agricultural education from a land-grant institution. Three of the participants had served as a cooperating teacher during either the 2010 or 2011 spring semester but had reported a negative student teaching experience with their last student teacher. Two of the participants had served as pilot interviews for the study, but they were added as participants during the analysis of the study. The participants provided interviews, opportunities for professional observations, and teaching documents for analysis. Four major themes emerged in the study 1) The professional identities of secondary agricultural education teachers are affected by their membership in the pre-service teacher community. 2) Secondary agricultural education teachers volunteer as cooperating teachers to help others and themselves professionally. 3) Secondary agricultural education teachers empower themselves and other members of their communities through their leadership due to their strong sense of political efficacy. 4) The professional practices of agriculture teachers are influenced by their service as a cooperating teacher. / Ph. Religiosity, Parental Support, and Formal Volunteering Among TeenagersPaintsil, Isaac 01 May 2019 (has links)
Few countries can boast of having the culture of formal volunteering seen in the United States. In explaining this phenomenon, many empirical studies have found religiosity significant in predicting behaviors among young adults, adults, and the elderly. However, teens (13 – 17 years) have not attracted much attention from researchers, though they possess the time and resources most needed to volunteer. Using data from the National Study on Youth and Religion (NSYR) Wave 1, this study examines the relationship between formal volunteering and teens’ individual (religious salience and religious experience) and collective religiosity (religious tradition, church attendance, and religious youth group participation). Parental variables and teen demographics are also tested using a three-stage ordinal logistic regression. Regarding individual religiosity, the results suggested a significant relationship between teens’ religious experiences and formal volunteering. In addition, parents can induce formal volunteering by encouraging their teens to volunteer and participate in religious youth groups.

Dobrovolnictví seniorů v mezigeneračních programech / Senior volunteerism in intergeneratioal programsZavadová, Kateřina January 2020 (has links)
The diploma thesis deals with volunteering of seniors in intergenerational programs. In my work I deal with the phenomenon of volunteering as a beneficial civic activity, together with the phenomenon of an ever-growing post-productive group of our population, the elderly. I connect these two phenomena in my work and put them into interaction with intergenerational issues. The aim of the research part is to map the possibilities of volunteer involvement of seniors in intergenerational programs in the Czech Republic, where senior volunteers act as service providers to the younger generation. I focus on various programs in which the oldest and youngest generation interact directly through various activities. The specific objectives are to find out how senior volunteers are addressed in these intergenerational programs from the perspective of program coordinators and to clarify the causes of the small number of senior volunteers involved in these programs.

Výběr aktivit dobrovolnictví v organizacích / Selection of Volunteering Activities in OrganizationsTruksová, Tereza January 2020 (has links)
Corporate volunteering as part of corporate social responsibility is gaining in popularity. So far, research has focused on aspects of motivating corporate volunteers or the link between volunteering and social responsibility. The choice of a non-profit organization that the company will support within the framework of corporate volunteering and the activities that are offered to employees to participate are topics that have only been marginally affected by research. Appropriate cooperation with a non-profit organization and the offer of activities are, however, the key to effective volunteering. The research aim of the empirical survey was to find out how companies select non-profit organizations to support in corporate volunteering. The aim was also to identify corporate volunteering activities and communication channels from the perspective of companies and volunteers. The survey was conducted with two groups of respondents, with companies and volunteers. The questionnaire method was used for data collection. Six hypotheses were defined, two of which were confirmed. The results showed that the choice of non-profit organization and activities influence the wishes of employees. Companies select non-profit organizations primarily based on the subject of their activity and most often use manual...

And in my Head I Paint a Picture : The Role of Development Volunteering Organizations in the Othering of States in the Global SouthZiegler, Runa January 2023 (has links)
The focus of the Bachelor thesis is to analyze how states in the Global South are being othered by states in the Global North that fund international development volunteering (IDV). A focus is put on states that fund IDV as part of their contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals. For this purpose, relevant literature from critical tourism studies, research on IDV and critical as well as postcolonial approaches to international volunteering are being introduced. This builds the basis for conducting a quantitative and qualitative content analysis of data from four IDV organizations’ websites. The sources to be analyzed are the descriptions of countries in the Global South on two websites and the pictures on the websites of four organizations. From this data collection three themes emerge in the discussion: Othering based on socio-demographic aspects - like gender, race and age - normative aspects and the representation of places. All three aspects contribute to the othering of places and people in the Global South through international development volunteering.
