Patienters upplevelser av att vårdas tillsammans, både män och kvinnor, på en akut sjukvårdsavdelning inom nedre kirurgi / Patient´s experience of care in a mixed sex ward on an acute medical department of the lower surgeryHeed, Cecilia, Roeger, Maria January 2011 (has links)
Mixed sex-wards, where you mix men and women, occur in hospitals around Sweden and should be recognized by the patient´s perspective when they are in a position of the medical and healthcare environment. Today it is becoming increasingly common for hospitals to have mixed sex-wards, this is usually because the lack of time and space. The study's purpose was to describe patients' experiences of care in a mixed sex-ward on an acute medical department of the lower surgery. The study was qualitative with a phenomenological approach. An interview study with fifthteen patients who had been cared for in a mixed sex-ward was conducted. The result showed that most patients felt positive when cared for in mixed sex ward. It turned out that they experienced a better atmosphere, softer jargon and a calmer ambience. It also emerged that some had not reflected on the mixed sex ward. They argued that there was something quite normal and that all patients towards the same goal, to get well. However, it was a few who felt traumatized by the experience and felt a violation of integrity. In conclusion, the study´s results showed that the mixed sex-wards were seen as a positive experience and something that many patients would consider in the future.

valorizados durante a concepção arquitetônica do edifício.
The contemporary spaces of health that points to a new design are based on a more
human relationship with the user, in which all those involved in health care are valued during
the architectural design of the building. In this sense, the architecture of health areas goes
beyond the technical simple and formal composition, of these environments, once the
Humanization aims to consider situations which are not built, delimited by a space and time
experienced by groups taking their cultural values and social relations into consideration. In
the particular case of the pediatric wards, one has to understand that children and adolescents
hospitalized have needs other than simply medical, which must be met with equal importance.
Taking these data as assumptions, this paper aims to investigate how the built environment
can contribute to the humanization of health areas, particularly pediatric wards, creating
guidelines for future projects. This work is characterized as an Exploratory Research, with an
interdisciplinary as well as a qualitative approach. It leans on the multidisciplinary literature
on the subject and field studies, with reference to the techniques and tools of Post-Occupancy
Evaluation. The study was conducted in two pediatric wards of general hospitals in Juiz de
Fora, with public or charitable service where the three following types of users were
investigated: patients, caregivers and staff. The architecture as an element contributing to the
quality of the experience of its users was analyzed as well as opinions have been raised about
the ideal place for such care, pointing to new challenges facing a most humane approach. It
was concluded then that for effective humanization of healthcare environments
multidisciplinary efforts will be needed. This study also points to the need for architectural
designs to be considered, first of all the individuals who inhabit them, guiding and planning
spaces that facilitate their experience in all aspects, respecting the individuality and
particularities of each type of user involved in the production process of healthcare.

Expecting the unexpected : How distance to maternity wards affects movingMunter, Emil January 2023 (has links)
This thesis investigates how a closure of a maternity ward affects the moves intoand out of a municipality. The policy focus of a centralization of maternal care in Sweden may bring unseen consequences that matter for society in a larger sense than only births. By treating closeness to a maternity ward as a positive amenity for a municipality, these closures introduce an exogenous variation that is used to estimate how moves change over time. With the lack of data availability, utilizing Sweden’s administrative areas, the lack of data over amenities as well as other factors such as employment possibilities are compensated for, revealing the possibility of using similar areas as potential substitutes for amenities. The results indicate that closures are likely to introduce a lower mobility for the regions as both fewer moves in and fewer moves out are revealed in the estimates. The results are strongly significant, a one minute increase of travel time would be associated with a decrease of around 3 moves in and 2.7 moves out. These results are mostly robust, and findings suggest north and south of Sweden are fundamentally different.

Missed opportunities: the role of community pharmacy after discharge from cardiology wardsFylan, Beth, Blenkinsopp, Alison, Armitage, Gerry R., Naylor, Deirdre January 2014 (has links)
No / This research aims to develop a better understanding of how
cardiology patients experience the care provided by community
pharmacy after discharge from hospital.
• Contact with community pharmacists is infrequent and can
be via a proxy. Patients’ experiences of community pharmacy care are limited and many patients have unmet medicines
use support needs.
• Community pharmacy misses opportunities to support
patients in their medicines use after hospital discharge
