Tracing the Wild Beam: An Investigation of the Process Approach in Use at Prickly Mountain, VermontGreer, Kelsie 17 June 2014 (has links)
This thesis attempts to shed light on the process approach developed at Prickly Mountain, Vermont by investigating the influence of Yale professors Robert Engman and Chris Argyris. As a sculptor, Professor Engman influenced the way in which Prickly Mountain builders interacted with their materials, allowing space for discovery. On the other hand, professor Argyris from the Industrial Administration program inspired Prickly Mountain builders to consider the element of human behavior in interacting with their structures. Argyris' teaching also inspired critical engagement with the practice of architectural education. Together, Engman and Argyris present a more in depth picture of the design process at Prickly Mountain and thus help to provide an academic footing for this otherwise eccentric practice.

The study was designed to evaluate the in vitro susceptibility and in use of different yeast species originated from wild animals against different existing disinfectants on the market, as well as phytochemicals. Právní úprava myslivosti / Legal regulation of hunting managementOndová, Kamila January 2011 (has links)
The legal regulation of hunting and gamekeeping This diploma work deals with legal regulation of hunting and gamekeeping which is possible to characterize as an economic, special-interest, scholastic and organizational activity. This activity is performed by hunters who being professionally educated practise this activity in their free time and on their costs. The activity is aimed at wild game with purpose of preservation of all species of game, but also of keeping hunting customs. The diploma work contains the paper about valid law regulation of hunting and gamekeeping, which is represented by the basic law about hunting and gamekeeping and then the laws concerning nature and animals (veterinary law, law for tyranny of animals, law for nature and countryside preservation). The diploma work also goes back to the history of law regulations, which are the background for the present law. Some law regulations were of such quality that they might be inspiration in future. One part of diploma work is about environment in international context. This area is full of problems with worsening of environment, which influences game and hunting and gamekeeping as well. There are no frontiers for animals that is why there have been many international agreements and directives accepted for game protection as a whole on...

The Influence of Soil Characteristics on Saguaro (Carnegiea gigantea) Post Wild Fire Restoration EffortsJanuary 2013 (has links)
abstract: The Cave Creek Complex fires of June and July of 2005 north of Phoenix, Arizona, U.S.A. burned 248,310 acres of Sonoran desert, primarily on the Tonto National Forest, USFS. The fires consumed multiple stands of the keystone species Carnegiea gigantea, the saguaro cactus. Restoration efforts in late spring 2007 involved the monitoring of 200 transplanted saguaro cacti over a two year period for overall establishment and success. Observation of local saguaro distribution suggests that soil factors might influence saguaro growth. Therefore, soil samples were collected from each transplant location and analyzed for percentage coarse fragments, texture, pH and electrical conductivity as soil collection and analysis of these variables are relatively inexpensive and expedient. Regression analysis was used to determine which, if any of these soil characteristics significantly correlated with plant growth. The results of this study found significant correlation between saguaro transplant growth and the soil variables of clay content and pH, but no correlation between saguaro growth and coarse fragment percentages or electrical conductivity. / Dissertation/Thesis / M.S.
