When logistics is an important section in military operations, which today often take place inco-operation with other nations, it is of interest to examine what the capability ofinteroperability among logistic systems looks like. In this essay it will be done from an overalllevel comparing the logistic systems in the United States, Great Britain, Germany andSweden. This examination has its base in the theory of manoeuvre and the theory ofoperational logistics. It is based upon studies of literature on today’s existing doctrines andhandbooks. The examination consists of a comparison of how the countries use their logistic systemslooking at the capability for flexibility, tempo and efficiency and is based on the measuringinstrument that is in Annex 1. The following analysis shows similarities and differences in theways of using the logistic systems. How the similarities and differences will influence the countries’ capability of interoperabilitywill then be compared and analyzed with four variables (organization, command, equipmentand agreements) to show what the countries’ capability of co-operation in multinationaloperations looks like today. The measuring instrument for this analysis is also shown inAnnex 1.The conclusions at the end of the essay answer the initial questions:·  Are there any similarities and differences in how the countries are using thelogistic systems? The examination shows that the United States, Great Britain, Germany and Swedenuse respective logistic systems in similar ways. A possible difference that I have foundis in the capability of tempo and I am convinced that it is a passing stage because ofthe agreements NATO and other PfP-partners have made.·  How do the similarities and differences influence each country’s capability ofinteroperability? Those similarities that the examination basically shows point to a capability forinteroperability in a positive way. This essay ends with the conclusion that from a general point of view the United States, GreatBritain, Germany and Sweden probably have the capability to coordinate their logisticsystems on an overall level in multinational operations today. / Avdelning: ALB - Slutet Mag 3 C-upps.Hylla: Upps.
